Sicily is the largest of the Mediterranean islands, due to its history of invasions by various regimes over many centuries, each have left a mark. Visit the Unesco protected Greek temples in Agrigento, Ampitheatres in Siracusa and Taormina, the Roman villa with its fantastic array of mosaics discovered after 400 years under a mudlslide.
Sicily is also home to the majestic volcano Mount Etna, this active wonder is also surrounded by award winning wineries offering great wine tasting experiences. Food is also a very important part of the culture, we offer great food experiences, traditional cookery lessons, olive oil making, market tours etc...
My name is Karen, I am from the north of England where I spent 15 years working for a chain of luxury hotels. My husband and I relocated to Sicily in July 2007, we married locally and created The Lemon Tree, a collection of fully equipped holiday apartments within a gated community. We are also destination wedding planners.
Karen Cacopardo purchased this apartment in 2007
Sicily is a stunning island offering amazing scenery, fantastic history and great food and wine. Taormina is a hidden gem with its traditional piazza's and local restaurants, you can spend hours wandering around the narrow cobbled streets, visit the botanical gardens or people watch from the main Corso Umberto soaking up the wonderful Sicilian life.
Whilst staying at The Lemon Tree you will experience the luxury of a personal touch with attention to detail. As you will see by our 180+ reviews on Trip Advisor. We thrive on offering a friendly relaxed ambience coupled with a home from home feel.
Both fluent in Italian and English, we can assist you with all of your requirements: excursions, restaurant table booking, home cooked food, travel planning and any other issue that could arise throughout your stay. Paola (our housekeeper) is also on hand to replenish your laundry and bedlinen as and when required and generally keep The Lemon Tree running at full steam. Molly our very Sicilian dog is just here to entertain.
Dear Karen & Diego Thank you for everything, we had a really lovely holiday and enjoyed our time at The Lemon Tree. Thanks for all your kindness and welcome. We wish you well with all your future plans. Take care and keep in touch. Colin and Elizabeth

Stunning hillside location, views to the sea and the across the valley to Taormina, very interesting drive to the property if you follow a sat nav - DON'T. Hosts friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, good with English and Italian :) Rooms are well appointed, clean, with all the facilities you want including excellent WiFi, a good shower and a pool. It also actually has a Lemon Tree. Sitting on the large terrace overlooking Taormina bay took you away to another more peaceful time and pace of life. If you have kids get a car, if not get a scooter or two. Mt Etna worth the trip and you can see it from the back of the property a very short walk. Would recommend the Lemon Tree in heartbeat.
The lemon tree is located about 3kilometers from the centre of Taormina and Giardini Naxos, on a mountain side with breath taking views.
We were met by Karen late at night at the train station, we were taken to the apartment and were given a tour of the place, which includes a communal pool, BBQ area, table tennis and table football. We also met Molly the most relaxed dog you would ever meet, must be that Sicilian sun. Karen supplied us with some much needed food and a bottle of their own grown wine.
The apartment included all amenities, Wi-fi, air conditioning a small bottle of their own olive oil and a bottle of water which is a nice touch. The apartment has also a bunch of brochures for various things you can do, not only in Taormina but in Sicily. Even though we had a 'GPS' we asked them for the quickest routes and turned out it was the better option!! Karen and Diego know their way around!! Karen booked restaurants for us, advised us on the best granita in Sicily and generally took time out to make sure we had a great holiday.
Parking is ample and its free!! Even though we had planned our itineary they helped us alot in choosing alternative sites.
The only down side (if you can call it that); is you will need transport, as there is no public services close by. Alternatively you can always use a taxi or use the in house shuttle service from/to Taormina for about €10 each way.
All in all, we think it was a brilliant place and we will definitely be back.
We stayed here for the week running up to our wedding in nearby Castelmola.
The accommodation is spacious, spotlessly clean and very reasonably priced. Apartments come with jaw dropping views of Taormina, Ionian Sea and Mt Etna. We actually saw all the apartments as we had the whole place booked out for our wedding. All eight are lovely.
There is nothing Karen and Diego won't do to make sure you enjoy your time in Sicily. You can rely on them to organize anything for you, from traditional Sicilan BBQs to day trips and weddings! They even make their own wine and olive oil, both of which I highly recommend trying.
We actually loved it here so much that we curtailed our honeymoon in Southern Italy to spend one more week here!
We loved staying at the Lemon Tree. It's our second holiday there and we never do return trips anywhere, the world being large and our time off small. This time we were in the Ulivo and Limoncello-combining two apartments for maximum comfort and space for our pre-teens. It was really quiet and relaxing. The pool was a welcome retreat on a hot afternoon and the hosts were enormously helpful and knowledgable about the island-with loads of invaluable tips about local eateries, markets, hill top towns of note and manageable day trips to other parts of Sicily. Taormina, Castelmola and Giardini Naxos have plenty to offer but if you're so inclined there is loads to see and do in the area. This being our second trip we just relaxed and sampled the local offerings. The apartments were extremely well equipped and scrupulously clean. We were perfectly happy to sit on our wonderful balcony and enjoy the world class view, with a welcome breeze in the shade to keep cool. We will most definitely be back....again!
We’ve been back to the Lemontree, and had a lovely time. And our time passed perfectly between the pool, the wide patio with great views opposite Taormina, the barbeque and our own cool terrace. And there’s lots to do in Taormina. Music in the Ancient Greek Theatre this year was a special time. Its an hour or so from Syracusa , a little more from the wonderful Piazza Armerina mosaics . The local food is a revelation and the restaurants good value and often in memorable spots. Paradise really. Karen and Diego both know the locality and will do anything to make a holiday a good one. Say, ringing ahead for a good table, or letting you know where the world’s best cannolis are ( bottom of the hill ! ). Thoroughly recommended.
