Lovely, fully-equipped cottage & pool in mountain vineyard

Updated: 18-Oct-2016
2 bedrooms with beautiful views across the vineyard to the Guadiaro Valley

Finca del Rio is set in an acre of land, cultivated with newly planted vines. The original name was “La Viña de la Iglesia”, the Church vineyard, so to re-establish this, we have planted 1100 Tempranillo and Syrah vines. The 10 x 4.2m shaped pool, usable from April to October, heated by the sun, is surrounded by terracing.

There are several large paved areas with plenty of seating spots & sun loungers for relaxing, sunbathing, dining or finding a shady place to read a book. The top terrace has a thatched roof providing permanent cover for outside dining including a gas barbecue and lounge furniture.

At one end of the pool there is a shaded area, including a bar. Around the Finca you will find quince, fig, plum, apple, pear, apricot, almond, olive and walnut trees; feel free to help yourself when fruit is in season. Follow the path at the side of the property, through the vineyard to the viewing point in the middle and take in the magnificent views across the Finca to the hills beyond.

Take a look at our website link for more photos, details and blogs about our property and vineyard: www.fincadelrio.co.uk

We had a wonderful week at this property. It was very peaceful: not overlooked by anyone, or noisy. The pool was very clean and the property spacious. It was a great holiday.Brian is a great host.

Beautiful property in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

If first impressions are what counts then this was fantastic. Arriving late afternoon we found ourselves in this beautiful spot. We had planned to have a relaxing 10 days and that's exactly what we did in this quiet location with great views. We found the location perfect with the train station some 15 minutes walk away for days out in Ronda.

Villa was spotless and Monica and Brian provided everything we required and more.

I have no hesitation in saying we will return.

Fantastic property in a wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a fabulous week at La Casita, relaxing in the house, spending time by the pool and taking day trips to nearby sights. The villa is in the perfect location, remote enough that you feel you're the only people for miles around and yet just a 10-minute walk from the village of La Canada del Real Tesoro - we loved our morning walks to the bakery and supermarkets and a lunchtime stop at Bar La Parra. The Casita itself is beautiful, very well appointed inside and out and Monica was kind enough to leave a little step and some children's DVDs for our daughter alongside some home-made jams, chutneys and wine - we only wish we'd had enough room in the suitcase to take some home! The gardens are beautiful and home to friendly geckos and lizards and we spent several long and relaxing sunny afternoons at the pool. We went on day trips to nearby Ronda and down to Gibraltar and to Cueva de la Pileta to see the 20,000 year old cave paintings. All in all we had a very relaxing week in a marvellous location and we would love to return.

Beautiful setting, welcoming hosts

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay for 9 nights in the casita in mid-April. Monica and Brian were very helpful in ensuring we had everything we needed, including cot and other facilities for our baby daughter, and made sure we enjoyed every aspect of our visit. The casita itself was spacious, well stocked and immaculately presented, and the outside facilities including pool were top notch.

The location up in the mountains is truly stunning and it's a great base for exploring the Ronda area and Grazalema national park - although it is quite remote, so day trips further afield do involve long drives on windy mountain roads. But it's a world away from the tourist-centric coast - a true slice of authentic Andalucian life. Highly recommended.

A fantastic and relaxing place to spend time.

  • 5 of 5

From the first moment we arrived, we were overwhelmed by the beauty of the area, the situation of the finca and the fantastic weather. we gradually discovered the very local village, the nearby(up the twisty road) main town and local sites and enjoyed everything we saw. Ronda was our favourite place. It is certainly a property and an area that we would revisit.

Excellent time had by all

  • 5 of 5

Great pool. Great views. A wonderful place to relax in a fantastic part of Spain. Friendly service in local bars and restaurants, with good food. Take the train for a trip in to Ronda or to access a walk along the river gorge. Benoajan is well worth a visit for a meal at Molino del Santo or El Muelle.
