A Cotswold Cottage in the Heart of Woodstock

Updated: 11-Nov-2016
Cottage in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England - Within Walking Distance of Blenheim Palace - check what's on by visiting: www.blenheimpalace.com

A charming period cottage situated in the heart of Woodstock with oak beams, an open log fire and comfortable sofas and beds. A superb selection of restaurants and pubs are only a few metres away with one of England's 'jewels' - Blenheim Palace - just a short walking distance. Blenheim Palace is the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, Britain's most famous 20th century Prime Minister whose grave is at nearby Bladon church. The Palace is the home of The Duke of Marlborough and you can read about the history of Blenheim Palace, and 'what's on' during your visit, by visiting www.blenheimpalace.com. Woodstock is also an excellent base for visiting the beautiful Cotswolds, Oxford's historic colleges (only 8 miles) and William Shakespeare's birthplace, Stratford upon Avon. Little Peacock House is a beautifully traditional period cottage that stands at the end of a pretty terrace looking down Woodstock's famous Oxford Street. The cottage sleeps 5 (but also has a sofa-bed) and features oak beams, an open inglenook fireplace, gas central heating and a fitted kitchen. The dining room has a solid oak floor with a refectory table and 6 chairs.

Perfect Location

This cottage has an absolutely brilliant position within walking distance of everything that Woodstock has to offer, including Blenheim Palace and all the local bars, pubs and restaurants. The cottage is typical for the area and age, with lots of character features such as timber beams, slopping floors and a real bonus an AGA oven. Lovely big dinning table and good sized bedrooms with all facilities and equipment provided. We really enjoyed our stay and can highly recommend this cottage; the owners were very attentive and made sure that we had everything we needed.

Activity and Interests

Oxford is just 8 miles from Woodstock and boasts many restaurants and bars and, of course, its world famous colleges. Or you can take in a film at one of the Oxford's cinemas. Shopping is excellent in the city with many leading brands having a store there. Woodstock is on an excellent bus route with regular buses to and from Oxford. Blenheim Park hosts many events throughout the whole year.

Further Details:

Woodstock has everything you need; a Supermarket, Chemist, Doctor’s Surgery, Barclays Bank and an excellent Post Office.

Eating out: There are some fantastic places to eat (or just drink) in Woodstock – we’ve tried them all (many times over!) The Kings Arms has an excellent atmosphere and they have a ‘half price champagne night’ every Wednesday (go on, push the boat out!). Brotherton’s, the Italian bistro, has real gas lamps! There’s a Chinese takeaway on the left as you’re looking out of the dining room window, and a Chinese restaurant in High Street. If you fancy Fish and Chips - it’s opposite, and, if you like Indian food, we can thoroughly recommend The Jaan just 100 yards away!
