Stone house With Babbling Brook And Enchanting Views Of Medieval Village

Bedrooms 6
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Stone house in Seillans, Nr. Fayence, Provence, Cote D'Azur, France - Secluded, Yet Less Than One Km Walk To The Village Through The Grounds, Idyllic Setting.

The property consists of a three storey house (with its own annex) set in about 7 acres of land. The main house is reached at the end of its own drive, 300m from the road. The grounds originally included a jasmine garden (for the local parfumerie) and a working mill powered by the lively perennial stream which still flows just as vigorously through the property (it is augmented by springs on the edge of the property above the house). The whole property is on the side of a valley, which slopes towards the adjoining medieval village of Seillans, "one of prettiest in France". The house affords stunning views of this exquisite village.

There is an annex 30 metres from the house for extra guests (always rented with the main house). It includes two bedrooms and two bathrooms and will suit adolescents or young adults.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Frederique,

It would be true to say that I have never been so excited at coming out to France. But that is the same for so many people and we are so lucky to be coming back to your lovely home!

with the very best

mark, lisa and the boys

We are addicted to la bastide. We have been returning since 1996! Judy

The house was lovely, in an ideal location and furnished exceptionally nicely. We certainly appreciated the beautifully and extensively equipped kitchen, the bed linen was of by far the best quality Ihave experienced in a rented holiday house Emma

We were completely fascinated by your house and all the pictures.it is not every landlord that has been to a small birthday party with the Beatles!Fiona

It's fabulous here and we're having a very happy time, thank you.  Best regards, Kelly

The house is perfect for us.We are so sad to leave.Sarah

Our 4th visit to Seillans, but the first at "La Bastide".It has been the best.Absolutely stunning house and villa. At various times we have been

joined by relations and friends and all have been captivated by this glorious area.We feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to stay here.

We and the children hope to return very soon.

In summary:

Farmhouse and villa above, the Tops.We are very jaleous of those following us.

BBQ great, but difficult to clean.Just light up and scrape.

Sunbeds fab,but one or two chairs were beyond hope when we arrived.

Walk to the village for early croissants:delightful

Restaurants in the village:on the whole, very good.

Library:Impressive!the best we have seen in a rental. Not a single Jacquie Collins type of book!

Farmhouse in Seillans

  • 5 of 5

This was an incredibly memorable holiday for our family and friends. We stayed in both properties as we were a such big group, which was perfect. The farmhouse is 10 minutes walk away from Seillans so it's great to start the day with croissants from the patisserie in town. The pool was spectacular with comfortable sun beds for those who wanted to relax. The ping pong table was also a huge hit. We loved being able to eat el fresco and both the dining room table and the outdoor one were so big we could all easily eat together. Great BBQs. The farmhouse has rustic charm and we enjoyed just reading and hanging out in the house. The location was ideal....the owners provide tons of information so there's plenty to do. We visited vineyards, markets, and lakes. Whatever the age, there's plenty to do for everyone. All-in-all a great stay!

magical Provence

  • 5 of 5

Seillans, a hilltop village in Provence, offers pure tranquillity and majestic views of forested landscapes and rolling valleys. This summer, I was privileged to be part of a group staying at this enchanting farmhouse, located in a valley, which provided the perfect setting to enjoy the region at its best. Unaffected by its neighbouring glitz, this was the ideal retreat for those in search of pure relaxation as well as exquisite pastoral surroundings.

The Seillans farmouse provides a picture perfect view of this stunning region. In addition, the property boasts unique features which were thoroughly enjoyed, by both adults as well as the children in our group, including a running stream, a spring, in acres of captivating wilderness which runs through the property.

Each morning, we would explore and come across memorable views to take back to London with us – groves of fruit trees (unfortunately my knowledge of this was somewhat prohibited), waterfalls and a large paddock. In the afternoons, we would laze by the pool. It was heavenly and quiet – you can hear nothing but the sound of the summer breeze and the tweeting of birds sometimes muffled by children from our party too!).

The house itself is comfortable, clean and spacious, comprising 6 bedrooms, of which 3 are small, large living areas and equipped with the finest amenities. The owner of the house was also fantastic. She was on call and patiently answered a few queries we had. To top it all, the owners also have an insightful guide to ‘their Provence’ with their preferred recommendations of supermarkets, restaurants, hikes, must-sees and must-dos.

This place is truly magical.

Great place for a family holiday

  • 4 of 5

We had a fabulous time at La Bastide, the pool was used non-stop and we had some ferocious ping pong battles beside it (grandparents vs grandchildren the nots hotly contested). Leisurely meals were enjoyed at the long patio table and the house was very well-equipped. We walked into the village every morning for our croissants and enjoyed a coffee in the market square. Frederique, the owner, was hugely helpful, answering queries prior to booking and being on hand for advice on a local taxi service. The description of the house was accurate and it was well looked after - clearly a well-loved family home with lovely views over the valley.
