A stunning spacious villa with its own in ground pool, craftsman built as part of a very small select development. The villa is beautifully furnished and sleeps 4. Situated with open views of an ancient ruined castle and rolling vineyards yet just a short walk to the local village.

The Villa was built a few years ago, it is now maturing beautifully into it's surroundings and was loved by all who stayed there last year. The villa is fully furnished with comfortable seating for 4 adults inside or out in the living, dining and patio areas. There is satellite TV showing the main UK channels in addition to about 50 other channels, a DVD player if you wish to bring DVD's and also a Bose sound-dock to play your ipod. The villa also enjoys WiFi internet access. As it is built on a sloping site the villa is entered at first floor level. There is an open plan staircase down to the very spacious living / dining area. The open plan kitchen, fully equipped with fridge, freezer, oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine adjoins this room. The master bedroom with large double bed and ensuite shower room is a mezzanine floor partially above this area and there is a further twin bedroom and house bathroom on the upper floor. There are South facing doors opening onto the comfortably furnished, very private patio and pool area with sun loungers for lazy days, a table and chairs for al fresco dining and a large parasol for when the sun is a little too strong

Durban Corbieres is superbly situated to make the most of the fascinating and varied landscape of Languedoc, from the 300 km of unspoilt beaches stretching from the Cote d'Azur to the Spanish border, over 40 of which have blue flag status, to the medieval castles of the Cathars. Not forgetting of course some of the best wine growing regions in France.

The region enjoys a superb climate: Daytime temperatures in summer average 30 degrees and 20 degrees at night, making it just about the perfect climate for a holiday. This region boasts over 300 sunny days a year with an annual average of 22 degrees, great for a week away from the hustle and bustle at any time of year.

Activities: The Cathar Way long distance footpath passes through Durban Corbieres and explores all the main Cathar sites or for the less ambitious there are a multitude of walks through the vineyards enjoying the scents of the juniper, wild thyme, rosemary and lavender which grow in the wild garrigae landscapes of the region.

An unmissable Languedoc experience is to walk, boat or cycle along the tree lined Canal du Midi which passes just a few miles from Durban Corbieres.

Alternatively enjoy the quiet roads and cycle amongst the vineyards stopping at a cafe to enjoy a well desrved drink or snack. The French love of cycling is well known and the respect and space given to cyclists is a wonderful change from being in the UK.

The more active can find everything from tennis to kite surfing on the lagoons at Leucate.

As little as 70 miles away is the Pyrenean ski centre of Formigueres which has an enviable reputation for reliable snow and beautiful sunny weather.

Wonderful villa with spectacular views!

Four of us ( 2 couples) stayed here for 2 weeks . The villa was very clean, tastefully decorated and furnished and very well equipped, especially the kitchen .

The outside area was spotless as was the pool.

The villa is beautifully situated above Durban Corbieres and we never tired of sitting outside looking at the wonderful unspoilt views whilst sipping a glass of wine!

The weather was magnificent and the pool was a welcome relief from the heat.

The villa was big enough for us and having 2 bathrooms meant no queues!

Dave and Jeanne , the couple looking after the villa were very helpful when we had a minor problem and also went out of their way to help when we had car trouble.

The local supermarket had a superb boulangerie and also stocked most other items we required. Sigean and Narbonne had bigger supermarkets .

Highlight for us was visiting the Nou Camp in Barcelona. Well worth a trip if you like your football!

We had a fantastic holiday and would recommend this villa to friends and family.

We will be back!

Lovely Villa

Holiday in Durban Corbieres

Thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing stay in a well equipped and clean villa.

We loved the view from the patio and appreciated the pool when it got hot.

There were plenty of places to visit including Carcassone, Lagrasse, the Canal du Midi and Cathar ruined castles.

We found the village supermarket had a good range of food and we enjoyed walking down to the village to get the fresh bread for breakfast.

Wonderful situation and views.

We were very comfortable in the house, it really was like home from home, even down to having hooks for hanging ones dressing gown, a small thing but makes the stay comfortable.

Kitchen was well supplied.

We would love to go back one day. We would definitely recommend the house to our friends.

The Languedoc is the ideal holiday location, it has everything from beautiful beaches to fantastic Cathar castles to explore. There are an endless number of wonderful wine caves to visit where you are able to sample the produce of this fascinating region and every town or village has bars and restaurants for you to either sit and watch the world go by or enjoy some simply fabulous food. For the more active there is a superb variety of walking and cycling, ranging from watching the boats as you cycle along the nearby Canal du Midi to walking up to some of the peaks in the area which will offer views all the way down to the coast. The more adventurous can even enjoy some high quality rock climbing in the area!

Coast/Beach:

30 minutes drive to the beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean. The nearest beach is a La Franqui with its fine golden sand. Also nearby is Leucate, again offering fine sand with a nudist area at the far end of the beach.

Travel:

Easy access with budget flights to Perpignan, Carcassonne, Toulouse, Montpellier and Nimes from a variety of UK airports.

Just 12 miles from the A9 autoroute for those wishing to drive down and nearby Narbonne is a stop for the motorrail.

Perpignan is just 5 hours from Paris by TGV.

Distances:

The village of Durban Corbieres with all local amenities of bakery, supermarket, post office and pharmacy is only a few minutes walk away. There are a selection of bars and restaurants nearby ranging from the simple local restaurant to a Michelin starred restaurant just 5km away.

When we bought the house and were planning the furnishings we had a simple plan. "That we should be at least as comfortable on holiday as we are at home". accordingly all the furniture, bedding, towels and kitchen equipment were brand new and high quality. Judy loves to cook and so the kitchen is very well equipped should you wish to self cater. We hope you too will be very comfortable should you choose to spend your holiday there.
