In line with new Portuguese laws regarding holiday rentals, we are pleased to confirm that we have been registered as a tourist villa with Albufeira town council.

Wake up and have breakfast on the sunny, east facing, roof terrace, then follow the sunshine all day until it sets in the west drenching the pool, gardens, terrace and balcony in the Algarve warmth. The villa offers comfortable, stylish accommodation for up to six people. Forte Atlantico is perfectly situated in the quiet area of Areias Sao Joao halfway between Albufeira old town and the 'Strip'. Forte Atlantico has the added benefit of being built on the beach side of the area making quick and easy access to the golden sands of Sao Joao and Praia Da Oura. Of course, you have the benefit of the large shared pool and gardens of Forte Atlantico and you may prefer to relax in the privacy of this wonderful development. Although central to amenities, Forte Atlantico is in a quieter location, within easy walking distance of the Old Town and the Strip, offering the best of both worlds for those who like to relax by day and party by night!

About the Owner


We have now owned this property for 8 years, since new and absolutely love visiting and relaxing in this wonderful part of the Algarve. We have created a stylish and relaxing holiday home and offer it for your use, just as it is when we use it. We keep our house well maintained and updated and it is the place where we switch off from the day to day rush in the UK. We are just a normal working couple with a grown up family and grandchildren, we are very sociable and love relaxing with a good Portuguese red wine.

‘We returned from the Algarve yesterday evening after having enjoyed a great week in your villa. All was exactly as you described. The area was very quiet and peaceful which was just as we wanted and the overall ambience of the area was good. We found good places to eat, although we did use the Tres Palmeiras a few evenings. The service from your check-in company was good too - they arranged a driver collection and return to the airport for us at 32 euro. Overall your villa is excellent and we thought your contemporary style of interior decoration and furnishing was very nice. The location is as you said the best on the development. We will definitely be back and would like to rent from you again. We are now going to research when the ideal weather months are, i.e. little rain and not too hot.’ Mr E.

Amazing place to stay

I always stay in Sao Joao when I visit Portugal and this has to be one of the best rentals I have stayed in. Extremely comfortable, everything you need with the bonus of free wifi. Sun in the garden all day, lovely swimming pool and just a stone throw away from my favourite restaurants Tres Pameiras and Palacete. You can stroll in to the old town or take the little train and there are plenty of cafés, bars and places to buy all your shopping within walking distance. This place is a must to stay at and I will definitely book again.

From the Owner

One of the most important aspects for us was sun and location and this property ticked all the boxes for us. When the sun rises in the morning it hits the open top terrace which is ideal for eating breakfast or early morning sunbathing. During the morning the sun moves around to the front of the house, overlooking the pool and therefore the house is in the sun all day, right up until the sun sets in the evening. As the sun sets , we love to sit on the main bedroom balcony with a glass of lovely Portuguese red wine before heading out for the evening or relaxing and watching English TV, catching up on e-mails or chatting to neighbours.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Faro (45 minutes drive) at 60 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Bottom of the hill...5 mins walk at 1 Kilometres


The local golden sand beach of Sao Joao is 5 mins walk from the house, you can walk all the way along the beach to Fishersman's Beach and Albufeira Old Town in about 15 mins, lovely! Praia da Oura beach which is about 15 mins. The beaches have a wide range of water sports available in high season including par-ascending, yellow banana rides and jet skis.


You will usually fly to Faro airport however Lisbon is about 2h30min drive if you wish to fly then drive down to the Algarve.

Taxis are available at the airport or ask us for our recommended transfer operators.


Local restaurants, shops, bars, beaches all within walking distance. 10 minutes walk to the famous 'strip' and abou15 minutes walk along the beach or the road to the Old town of Albuferia. Great bus service. Plenty of water parks and theme parks to keep the children happy are all within 10-15 minutes drive. 'Algarve Shopping' is located directly on the N125 (the main road which runs right along the Algarve) a few minutes drive from Albufeira, just near the village of Guia.

For those of you who like a bargain, there are loads of markets to visit, just don’t forget to haggle for clothing and gifts as the prices quoted can sometimes be higher than local shops!

Lagoa - Market days: 2nd Sunday every month except July and August

Loulé - Market days: every Saturday. Very popular, busy market within and around the market hall in the centre.

Portimão -Market days: 1st Monday every month

Quarteira - (Also known as the Gypsy Market) - Market days: every Wednesday. One of the busiest weekly markets of the Algarve.

Sagres - Market days: 1st Friday every month

We think the location is perfect, 5 minutes walk to the beach, 10/15 minutes to the Strip and 20 minutes (max) to Albufeira Old Town (Beach route highly recommended in the daylight hours). There is a small mini market just across the road and local bars within a few minutes walk. We also offer free wi-fi access and English TV channels.
