About the Owner

My wife and I live in north Leeds, Yorkshire, England. We are both teachers and have two grown up daughters. We decided to buy a comfortable but unique family holiday home with our own pool, near relatives in Cyprus. We wanted a situation that was quiet in a village but accessible for eating out. We wanted a very private location with stunning views, as we love the Yorkshire Dales and the wonderful countryside, this is why we chose this rural part of the island. It is tranquil but still has all the amenities. We have Greek neighbours, as this is where they come to holiday from Limmasol and Nicosia. They are all lovely and very keen to be friendly and very kind.We recently decided to let our second home because I have had to retire due to ill health. Year purchased: 2008.

Picturesque Location for Enjoying Polis

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed staying at this villa for our vacation in Cyprus. It was very spacious with a stunning view! It is located high above the towns of Latchi and Polis (which are about a 15 minute drive away) and was a wonderful place to stay.

Do note, there are several things to know about this location:

(1) It's in a neighborhood of two rows of villas. During our time, it was essentially empty. While great for privacy and relaxation, it's also a bit isolated.

(2) The villa is well appointed. Two notes (1) I'm fastidious and (2) the villa was quickly turned over as there had a been a group before us that was late leaving. With both of those things in mind, the villa itself could have used a fairly deep cleaning. On the surface and for the things that you will most likely use it's quite clean, but it looks like it doesn't receive a very deep clean (aka scrubbing appliances, mopping the floors, broken pool umbrella, etc.) very often.

(3) The wifi is ok, but is only in the bottom of the house, not in the top two bedrooms. I had a cyprus cell phone provider and there was very little cell signal in the area (again, you are relaxing in a remote location outside of Polis).

(4) Definitely need to hire a car to get here and then travel around the area.

However, don't let any of this prevent you from booking. This is an amazing place to visit and I certainly would stay here again in a heartbeat if I have the opportunity to return to Cyprus!

Beautiful villa with a stunning view

  • 5 of 5

My husband, our two daughters aged 3 and 9 months have just returned from a two week stay in this beautiful villa.

Christine emailed directions for us to find the villa from the airport and they were spot on, we never made a wrong turn.

When you arrive at the villa you instantly see the amazing views of Latchi and Polis. It's a very peaceful location and just a short drive away from local amenities but a car is a must.

The villa itself was perfect, it had everything we needed and more.

Jon, the accommodation manager, was very attentive with the pool and shared his knowledge of the area so we knew where everything was which we found very helpful. The villa is in a beautiful spot and we got very spoilt with the views.

We hope to return very soon.

The most amazing villa

  • 5 of 5

The stay in this villa was to die for. I have never come back from a holiday so chilled out & relaxed.

The villa is situated in an ideal location with beautiful restaurants & tavernas a short drive away in the beautiful Laid back resort of Polis, where locals were both friendly & helpful & food delicious.

The property manager Jon could not have been more accommodating with his local knowledge ensured we had a fabulous stay. Nothing was too much trouble.

Overall a spotlessly clean well equipped stunning villa with breathtaking views to wake up to 5* doesn't do it justice.

Already looking for flights to come back.

Heaven in cyprus

  • 5 of 5

This villa is like booking a week in heaven. The location is very private and so picturesque. The villa itself has everything anyone could possibly need (apart from a private butler but John who looks after the property came a close second). It was very spacious and spotlessly clean. A short drive into beautiful Polis and you have fantastic tavernas and restaurants. You do need a car due to its location but this is what makes it perfect. The only passing traffic are the local goats with their bells at around midday. I cannot recommend this villa highly enough. I will definatley be returning.

Excellent Choice

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at this superb villa exceeded all our expectations. First of all, the location was just perfect. Set on the edge of this beautiful village it had all the advantages of easy access on foot to the local shops and numerous tavernas. The villa itself was spacious and tastefully furnished throughout. The owners had provided everything to ensure our stay was relaxing and stress free. An added bonus was the site manager who greeted us on our arrival, answered our questions and supplied us with the groceries that we had requested. It was so reassuring to know that he was at the end of a phone if there were any problems. Needless to say, there were none. a most enjoyable stay.

In a quiet location with complete privacy, this villa didn't disappoint. It is the perfect place to relax, whilst you overlook the stunning views.

The villa is very clean and tidy, and offers everything you need. Pawel the on site manager was very helpful, welcoming us on our arrival.

We enjoyed visiting the quiet beaches along the Akamas penisular, particularly very early in the morning, where the water is crystal clear and warm. in the evenings we were able to watch shooting stars as there is so little light pollution.

We will be definitely recommending this villa to our family and friends. We look forward to our next visit. Thank you.

Location

From the Owner

Why the owner choose a property in Drouseia: we love Drushia because of the fantastic facilities in the area. The village is gorgeous and all the beaches on the coast here are beautiful. The marina boasts a great range of bars and restaurants. The area is easily accessible with Pafos airport just over half an hours drive away. The location is quiet and private with stunning views and is a lovely rural location. We wanted a situation that was quiet in a village but accessible for eating out etc. It is a very private location with stunning views over open countryside This is why we chose this part of the island. It is tranquil but still has all the amenities. The goats are still herded by the local Goat herd and beaches such as turtle beach. Sites of special interest are very near.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Droushia is on the edge of the Akamas Peninsula at the western most point of Cyprus, and the whole area is crisscrossed by rocky trails and long distance walking routes. It is the easternmost point of the three major flora zones of Europe, and the number of plant species found here runs up to 600, of which 35 are endemic.

The variety of fauna is also impressive: 168 bird species, 12 mammals, 20 reptiles and many butterfly species. Akamas is ideal for climbing, walking, running, mountain biking, swimming, diving, fishing, exploring, cruising on small craft, and bird watching. Akamas is one of the very few important sea turtle nesting areas in the Mediterranean for both the Loggerhead Turtle and the rarer Green Turtle.

The town of Paphos to the south, is on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. Among the treasures unearthed, are the remarkable mosaics in the Houses of Dionysus, Theseus and Aion, the mysterious vaults and caves, the Tombs of the Kings, and other places of interest.

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beaches are 10 minutes drive away at Latchi and Polis in Akamas National Park.10 minute drive will bring you to Latchi's harbour with fishing boats and yachts and water sports for all the family. Akamas National Park, fabulous for diving, boat trips and exploring an unspoilt natural environment in accessible to motor vehicles. Here are some of the finest fish restaurants on the island.

Health and beauty spa 10 minutes walk away.

Entertainment at spa and exclusive hotel 10 mins wal

Travel:

Paphos international airport is a 30 minute drive away. Car hire is strongly recommended as there is little or no public transport to or from the village. However driving is very easy as driving is on the same side as the UK. and there is easy access to this part of the island due to a new by pass. Car hire easily available from the airport or locally.

Distances:

The local supermarket is only a 5 minute walk away and so to are the village tavernas. A 10 minute drive to Latchi with its seafood restaurants, and 15 minutes drive to Polis a very small town which has banks, shops, restaurants and cafes. Kathikasis is 5 minutes drive away and has a winery and a couple of excellent tavernas.

A 30 minute drive will take you to the world heritage site next to the lovely harbour in Pafos which has an Amphitheatre and castle. The Troodos mountains are 1 hours drive

Further Details:

There can be a welcome pack on your arrival to help you over the period before you can get to the supermarket, there is an excellent supermarket in Polis and hypermarkets in Paphos, which will meet all your requirements. There are plenty of heritage sites of interest to visit in the tourist town Paphos, including the World Heritage site at the harbour. We recommend a visit to Aphrodite Baths and Waterfalls for a cool swim on a hot day. Explore the wine vineyard routes which are to the west and south of the villa and taste some of the good wines of the region. Akamas National Park with its gorges and mountain goats or take a jeep safari and view the beautiful flora and fauna on your travels. Mountain biking, guided walks and quad-bike trips in the Akamas Park, scuba diving, snorkeling and boat hire can all be booked with local companies. The area also benefits from superb locally grown fruit and vegetables. The Cypriot long distance walking routes pass through Droushia, and you can walk or bike directly from the villa into the beautiful scenery of the Akamas Park and the coast (our manager can provide you with bikes and can transport you back to the villa. Droushia is the centre for some of the best rock climbing in Cyprus, in walking distance of the villa.

There is a 5 star hotel 10 minutes walk away for fine dining. there is a leasure complex with health and beauty spa plus dining and evenings entertainment.

The villa and pool area is completely secure for children. Please note that in Cyprus you drive on the left side of the road just as in Britain.
