The Farmhouse.

The Farmhouse is ideal for the larger family or group.

A typical open plan Breton farmhouse the floor being tiled throughout, comprising a large lounge, kitchen and dining area.

The lounge is dominated by a magnificent fireplace that incorporates a cast iron wood-burner and giving more than ample heat for the whole house if needed.

The first bedroom has 2 single beds, plus a further single if needed.

A second bedroom that has 2 single beds, plus another single if needed.

A third that has a king sized bed, and a single bed.

The first floor bathroom has a shower, wc and hand washbasin.

There is also a separate cloak room on the ground floor with a wc and hand washbasin.

The spacious lounge area is comfortably furnished with three settees and TV which receives English television and radio plus a DVD player.

The kitchen has a gas cooker, a fridge with small freezer, a microwave oven and a washing machine.

There is also a good selection of various cooking utensils.

About the property


Each gite has been converted to the highest standards and includes all modern comforts, yet retaining elements of traditional charm such as exposed beams and stonework. Situated on the outskirts of the small village of Dineault, Gouspagne has outstanding views of the surrounding countryside and is the ideal location whether you are looking for a quiet walking holiday or a beach based one. The town of Chateaulin is about a 15 minutes drive away and provides a good selection of bars, restaurants, shops and also supermarkets. A major attraction during the fishing season, where salmon is the main sport fish. The picturesque village of Port Launay which is about 20 minutes away, has a centre for various water sports and has an annual boating festival which attracts many visitors. The city of Brest further to the north is easily within an hours drive and has major attractions such as a 23 hole golf course and Oceanopolis, which not so much an aquarium as a marine theme park.

About Angela Boddington

Philip and I are originally Warwickshire farmers with a love of the countryside and rural life. In our mid 50's and looking for a new venture in life we were introduced to 'Gouspagne'

Why Angela Boddington chose Quimper area

Our first thoughts of the ivy covered semi ruin were far from favourable, but when we saw the panoramic views over the valley and surrounding Brittany countryside we knew we had found our dream. So in May 2006 we started work restoring and renovating this ancient farm and buildings. Being a bricklayer by trade with a passion for stone work Philip was in his element. With the help of family and friends and a few "tres bons" of encouragement from the locals we created what we have today. The house and buildings have changed but the view is still as spectacular as ever, a friend once described this area as the garden of Eden, come see it for yourselves.

Booking Notes:
A non-refundable deposit of 25% is required at the time of booking and confirmation. Full payment is required 6 weeks before the booked dates. On arrival a returnable security cheque of £150-00 or equivalent in euros is required. This cheque will be shredded or returned as soon as possible following departure and inspection, if cash is given this will be returned as a cheque or bank transfer.

Changeover Day:
Normally Saturday to Saturday in The Stables and The Farmhouse and Friday to Friday in The Haywain and The Dairy however we can be flexible with change-over days in some months. Arrivals after 4 pm and departures before 10 am.

Notes on prices:
We can be flexible with start days/dates and prices please ask. Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds.
Discounts are available for winter lets please ask for details.

Notes on accommodation: Strictly non-smoking in the properties. Each gite has a TV that receives UK channels. Cots are available for each gite, as are highchairs. Electricity in The Stables and The Farmhouse is supplied via a meter that accepts a 2 euro coin, electricity in The Haywain and The Dairy is included in the price. Wood for the woodburners is extra and can be supplied by us at cost. All properties are suitable for children being durable and easily cleanable.The property as a whole would be ideal for larger groups of people, ramblers, birdwatchers, painters, anglers, golfers, cyclists, works do's etc, easily sleeping up to 26 people. The Stables is suitable for people with mobility problems. Outside: Each gite has a selection of outside furniture as well as a BBQ. There is a very large paddock behind the property with outstanding panoramic views across the countryside and down in to the river valley below, the ideal place for a picnic on a warm summers evening. We also provide swings for the children and a choice of various garden games.

Fun and Friendship at the Farmhouse

Angela and Philip, owners of the Farmhouse, are warm and friendly people who are there if you want help. but discreet if you do not. The accommodation is best described as "rustic comfort". The place is very clean and provided with enough towels to meet the fussiest of bathers.

The furniture and equipment are eclectic - being drawn from all of the different stages of the Boddington's lives, I suspect. The cooker and washer are first rate, though. The beds are clean and comfortable, if a little utilitarian in the two smaller bedrooms but, after all, the prices that one is expected to pay must be in the lowest percentile of any decent accommodation in Brittany so one cannot expect "Laura Ashley" throughout.

We simply loved the feel of the place and to us it was a home from home.

Chatelain, the nearest town, is a picture postcard and within an hour in any direction lie some of the best walks, historic villages and stunning coastline in Western Brittany. As birdwatchers, we were in our element and we will certainly be going back to stay at the Farmhouse to see the changes in avian population in another season of the year.

Thanks to Angela and Phillip for being warm and welcoming and adaptive enough to allow several of our visitors to stay at different times.
