Tranquil, private 3 bedroom family house amonst vineyards, large pool
Les Hirondelles is a 19th century maison de mâitre with lovely 10x5m pool, set in luscious and pretty scenery with views of vineyards and rolling fields. The house provides a tranquil, relaxing base for your holiday as well as an ideal location from which to explore countryside, markets, numerous Bastide towns and historic chateaux. Wine lovers will be able to enjoy the small independent wine producers (caves) nearby, and the more famous wine producing estates which surround the historic towns of Saint Emilion (35 mins), and Sancerre (30 mins) while lovers of culture and fashion can enjoy the vibrant city of Bordeaux, which is within easy travelling distance (1 hour). The house is a welcoming and comfortable generously proportioned home, with many original features; such as beamed ceilings, open fireplaces and antique tiled and wooden flooring. The large swimming pool is surrounded by large lawn dotted with ornamental shrubs, roses and numerous fruit trees. Dogs very welcome. Les Hirondelles is usually rented out Sunday to Sunday.

About Mark Elvins
We fell in love with Les Hirondelles and had to buy it. It is such a peaceful place that we love to stay there simply relaxing, enjoying the away-from-it-all vibe and the slow pace of rural life all around. Children love running in the gardens and playing in the pool, and grown ups have lots of things to do in the area too.

Why Mark Elvins chose Entre Deux Mers
The calm serenity of Les Hirondelles' rural location has to be experienced to be believed. The slow pace of life is a real stress-buster, whether using the property as a base for local exploration or simply staying at home, relaxing in the peaceful gardens or cooling off in the large pool.
What makes this house unique
Les Hirondelles is set in a small rural hamlet far away from heavy traffic and the pace of life there is dreamy. It's easy to relax and feel in the middle of nature, but at the same time enjoy all the benefits of access to the fun of a modern swimming pool. Lovely views over the surrounding vineyards are combined with as much rest and relaxation as anyone could want, with the local attractions of St Emilion and Bordeaux on tap if you need them.

Rustic and restful
This is a great house in an idyllic setting – a very ‘unspoilt’ country hamlet, but close enough to plenty of towns so getting supplies / eating out is easy. The building itself is big and roomy with plenty of period features – a classic maison maitre – but nicely appointed with all the amenities you’d expect. Plenty to do in the local area (and Monsegur on market day is definitely worth a visit), but if that feels too energetic this an ideal place just to have a splash in the pool and then sit back, relax, take in the view and listen to the grapes growing in the vineyard next door.
Comfortable, peaceful, nicely furnished
We had a lovely time here, exploring the local countryside on our bikes, making the occasional foray to local vineyards. The house has the kind of rustic charm you always hope you will find in the south of France. It is tastefully furnished, well-equipped (especially the kitchen) and everything was in good nick. The place is not too remote, but its extremely peaceful and the locals were very charming and helpful, Definitely considering a return visit.
Delightful base for exploring Entre Deux Mers
This was my second stay here, I've stayed with a party of 2 families and kids, and in a party of 5 friends, and the house was great for both. It is clean and as described and I would recommend it. The pool is lovely, private but set in a mature garden, and well maintained. The pretty garden goes all round the house so you can choose sun or shade for outdoor meals. Inside is comfortable, with high quality and generous furnishings, and we found everything we needed, even Elizabeth David to cook with. It is a house in which you can thoroughly enjoy staying and you feel at home. There are lots of nearby places to visit including markets, and local summer festivals featuring food, wine and dancing. La Reole was particularly interesting, also Arcachon further afield with its amazing dunes and museum from another age. A week can certainly go by very quickly here!
Idyllic holiday house
If you're looking for a classic French gite with your own pool in a beautiful, sunny and peaceful place then this is for you. The house is tastefully furnished with plenty of room, large gardens and with countrl walks to enjoy right from the doorstep. There are many beautiful sites to visit, especially St Emilion, and plentiful towns and villages for excellent meals out and wine tasting. Couldn't recommend it highly enough, and at a bargain price!
Stunning Family House with gorgeous pool
This beautiful house is ideal for two families to share. It was immaculate, spacious and perfectly located to explore the local area. It has everything you need for eating inside or outside and is ideal for entertaining. There is ample parking and the house is situated in a lovely quiet location. We had a fabulous holiday and will definitely return soon.

Activity and Interests
The dunes of Arcachon are around 2 hours away by car.
Bordeaux airport is an hour away by car; Bergerac airport is 1 hour 15 mins by car. Bordeaux train station is an alternative and where connections to Langon and La Reole (15 mins from the house) can be easily made. However car hire is recommended and is easily available from either Bordeaux or Bergerac.
We are close to the vineyards of St. Emilion (35 mins) and Sauternes (30 mins). There is much to do locally such as visiting the medieval towns of La Reole (10 mins), Sauveterre-de-Guyenne (15 mins), Monsegur (25 mins) and Duras (30 mins), the nearby chateaux of Malle (near Sauternes), Cadillac and Malrome (a connection to Toulouse-Lautrec), and discovering historic churches, abbeys (La Sauve) and ancient mills (Loubens).
The nearest supermarkets are in Sauveterre and La Reole (10-15 mins drive away) and restaurants abound in the local villages and towns, where it is easy to find anything ranging from haute cuisine to good country meals, all very well priced.
