Updated: 17-Aug-2016
Villa Near Sao Martinho do Porto, Silver Coast, Portugal - Peaceful, Rural Setting

This spacious 3 bedroom semi-detached villa has a private pool for the exclusive use of our guests in our secluded back garden. It was completed in 2008 and provides everything you would want for a fabulous holiday on the Silver Coast with its spectacular coastline and countryside. This small development of just 5 privately owned villas is walled and gated and located along a quiet country lane on the edge of of the busy local village of Alfeizerao. It offers a peaceful setting for your holiday with fields and apple orchards to the front and pine trees screening the back garden and pool. The delightful bay at Sao Martinho do Porto is just 3km away, boasting a newly built promenade, safe bathing for children and plenty of local bars and restaurants. The heritage cultural sites of Obidos, Alcobaca and Fatima are within easy reach. The nearby amazing Buddha Eden development is not to be missed. Excellent golf courses are about half an hours drive. About the Owner

I live with my husband Clive in a small village in the Lincolnshire Wolds. We are now both retired from working in local government, have grown up children and five fantastic grandchildren. We were both born and brought up in central London but over the years we have found that the further north we go the better we like it. We have settled in rural Lincolnshire and just love the space, big skies, beaches and pace of rural life.

Just to let you know we all had a fab time in your villa, it is beautiful and we all loved the remote location and we sampled some of the finest red wines we had ever let our pallets loose on. Absolutely gorgeous local people, very helpful and understanding of our lack of the Portuguese language. Stansfield Family 2013

Thanks for a wonderful holiday it was just what the doctor ordered, lovely house in a great location too. What more could we have wanted? Williamson Family July 2012

Thank you so very much for all your help. The villa is just amazing, so to are the Portuguese people & the country as a whole. The Applegates June 2012

The perfect time escape to relax and soak up the sun

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying at Linda's home. The pictures on the website are really accurate, there were just the two of us but it's actually a great house for 4-6 people.

Linda was really helpful right from the beginning of the booking process (our first time using the site). Directions to her home where easy to follow, just over an hour from Lisbon airport and the house was beautifully clean and set up for our arrival. It has everything you could want, and including English tv (we got to see the British Grand Prix, the men's Wimbledon final and the World Cup match).

As promised, the sun rises over the pool by 10am and has the sun on the whole area all day. There is a lovely charcoal bbq and outdoor seating area which we used everyday.

The local town is within 10 minutes walking distance and has everything you need. For larger shops you have a choice of supermarkets.

We enjoyed the villa and outdoor space so much that we never actually made it out to dinner during our weeks stay and fully utilised the villa.

We were coming concerned as two female friends travelling alone how safe we would feel. Firstly to get near the villa you need a fob to open security gates and then it has security blinds on all windows so you can close the villa right up at night so although the villas either side were unoccupied throughout our stay, we felt really secure.

It really was the perfect quiet escape and exactly what we were looking for.

Holiday in a magical paradise

  • 5 of 5

The villa is superb. The furnishing, fittings, bathrooms, kitchen and decor are all to the highest standard. The outside pool area are fab The location is beautiful and peaceful. Local amenities are close at hand. Very friendly local bars and restaurants in a short and pleasant walking distance. Excellent supermarkets and local fresh food and fish market a short drive away. Lots of fresh seafood was cooked on the villa barbecue The stunning coast at Foz do Arelho is reached by a drive through a magical landscape. Sao Martinho do Porto is a joy to see. Excellent natural bay with beach and shops, bars and restaurants. Very good as a family spot. Caldas da Rainha is a superb spot for the more determined shopper and is also stylish, classical and special.

Relaxing in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

This property was incredible and contributed to one of the best holidays we have ever had! Four of us stayed but there was ample room for more. The place was spotless for us and was carefully maintained by the housekeeper who resolved any queries we had, as well as providing us with information about local events.

We were provided with clear, precise instructions and reached the property easily. Then the local knowledge and extensive leaflets at the property itself meant we were never short of ideas for things to do (and the restaurant suggestions were impeccable!)

Overall, I can't express enough how this property met, and well exceeded, our expectations. Thank you Linda and Clive for a brilliant time and we cannot wait to come again!!

Wonderful Villa & Pool with Lovely Helpful Owners

  • 5 of 5

We are 4 Ladies (Elderly Disabled Mother & her 3 Daughters in our 50's) we found ourselves just 3 days away from our holiday with nowhere to stay !! We emailed a few owners but Linda was the only owner who contacted me willing to take my booking at such short notice. She sent me the keys that evening recorded delivery & we were so grateful. We were so lucky she did as the villa was everything we required with a spacious downstairs bedroom for mum in a wheelchair with a shower room close by. Two large bedrooms & a bathroom/shower upstairs. The kitchen was large, clean and very well equipped, we liked that they left condiments, soap powders etc as a lot of places leave you nothing. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The pool and garden area was quiet and not overlooked, we unfortunately didn't have great weather but were able to use the pool 2-3 occasions and the water was quite warm. We would recommend this Villa and the service we got from the owners and hope to return next year. **THANK YOU LINDA** - Place to Visit OBIDOS - Lovely town

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

we had a wonderful holiday. Weather was brilliant and we were able to make full use of the pool. We and our friends were very impressed with the villa facilities and we had several enjoyable meals on the patio. Location was ideal for sightseeing and we enjoyed our evening strolls into the village and surrounding area. We will certainly consider your villa again when we return to Portugal in the future.

From the Owner

We spent a lot of time visiting various developments along the Silver Coast before deciding to buy this particular plot in its lovely setting. The house and the setting ticked all the boxes for us and we still never fail to be enchanted by the area, the village, the local food, the countryside and the beaches. This part of Portugal is still relatively 'undiscovered' and just so 'untouristy'. Yet it is just an hour's drive north-west out of Lisbon. You wont find any massive hotel developments along this particular coastline but you will find beautiful deserted beaches, great surfing, fantastic local restaurants, wonderful local wines, big fat sweet tomatoes and olives and of course, lovely people. We love it and we know that you will too.

From the Owner

The villa is easily located on the edge of the village of Alfeizerao, with easy access up onto the A8 highway. It is set in a private development of 5 similar properties. The location certainly fits our bill for quiet, privacy and tranquility. Yet within a few minutes we can be heading off to the medieval town of Obidos or down to Peniche to some of the best fish restaurants in the country. A gentle stroll in the morning will take you to Cinderalla, the local bakery/patisserie shop to pick up fresh croissants and eggs for breakfast. The small, charming seaside town of St Martinho with its perfect U shaped bay has a unique, atmosphere all of its own. It's a great place for children to safely run free on the beaches. They don't call it 'The Children's Beach' for nothing.
