A Provence style property situated in the quiet residence of Mas de la Mer, close to the village of Théoule sur Mer, occupying arguably the best position of all. Added to that, the rare two-storey configuration offers twice the the view!

Both the terrace and the balcony share the most spectacular vista across the bay of La Figueirette and to the foothills of the Estérel Mountains. A few minutes walk down the hill brings you to the beaches, which are safe, sandy and ideal for families. The bars and restaurants provide welcome shade and a view of the sunshine glistening on the calm waters.

For those with the energy, a short walk up the hill behind the property takes you into the Estérel National Park where you can explore the mountains along the many winding footpaths.

This stretch of coastline is renowned for its natural beauty and distinctive rose coloured rocks. But perhaps the most treasured asset, for locals and visitors alike, is the peace and tranquility of this unspoilt area.

About the Owner

The owners have been visiting the South of France for many years and love this quiet area with it's beautiful views. It's a great place to relax and there are many good restaurants nearby. The climate is ideal throughout the year and there are many interesting places to visit including art galleries, museums and gardens. It is not far from Monaco and a visit to the Historic Grand Prix is very exciting.

But the best part is just to relax on the terrace with a glass of wine and enjoy the view!

Both my wife and I have been visiting this area since the early 1960's. We chose our villa in the Esterel as it is in one of the most undeveloped areas on this coast line and we spend the out-of-season weeks here. There are many interesting places to discover and the winter sun is a great attraction.

Activity and Interests

Car: necessary

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beach is approx 3 mins drive or 7 mins walk down the bottom of the hill. The beach is sandy and safe and there are many facilities in the summer season such as windsurfing, sailing and diving. All the beach bars and restaurants are French owned and serve local dishes.

There are many other beaches only a few miles drive along the coast road. The National Park is on the doorstep, offering opportunities for walkers to explore the countryside.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Nice, about a 40 mins drive. Marseilles is about 2 hours drive. The journey from Calais can be done in about 12 hours, but for those of us who don't drive a Bugatti Veyron, it's best to allow 14 hours!

Unless you are a keen cyclist or walker, we highly recommend a car for the duration of your stay.

Distances:

The closest shop is a small general store in La Trayas 3 mins drive. A local bakery sells fresh bread to the complex most mornings (in high season). The nearest town is Theoule sur Mer about a 5 minute drive.

The closest large supermarket is in Mandelieu which is about a 10 minute drive.

There are many places of interest to visit in the region including the National Park. Miramar is just 20 minutes drive from La Croisette in Cannes and about 40 minutes from Nice.

Further Details:

Along the coast road towards Theoule there is a variety of notable restaurants, many with beaches adjacent. The town itself has a very helpful Tourist Office, a Post Office and a few local shops. Mandelieu has the nearest large supermarket and banks.

There are local markets at the Marina, in Theoule and Mandelieu. Miramar is a great all year round base for your interests or sport. From this tranquil part of the Cote d’Azur you can pursue your passion for Culture, History, Golf, Walking, Sailing, Skiing and Mountain activities.

Many artists visited, lived and fell in love with the Côte d'Azur. Works by Picasso, Chagall, Monet, Renoir, Bonnard and others are to be found in the galleries.

The nearest ski resort is Gréolières les Neiges behind Grasse, about 60 minutes drive. Other centres north of Nice include Vallberg, Auron and Isola 2000, all within 2-2.5 hours drive.

The small marina at La Figurette offers boat hire in the summer months. Boat trips to the Lerins Islands can be taken from Theoule (in high season), La Napaule and Cannes. There are also ferry services to St Tropez from Cannes or St Raphael.

In addition to the fabulous location, the peace and tranquility of Miramar has been achieved by keeping cars out. This means that to reach our little ‘oasis’ you have to carry your bags a short distance along a winding path through very pleasant, semi-tropical gardens. It’s a small price to pay for the opportunity of sitting out on a warm evening listening to cicadas conversing rather than cars coming and going. The villa has the rare benefit of being on two floors, both providing glorious sea views. These are especially appealing at night when the lights from houses across the bay glint under the starry sky. The swimming pool is reserved exclusively for residents and is just a short winding walk away, and there are occasions when you may have it to yourself!

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: There are fans both upstairs and down stairs for the hotter months and individual heaters for cooler months. Additional cost for electricity November to April. Outside: The hedged terrace ensures privacy and shelter from the breeze. It has a couple of lounger chairs, circular table and four chairs and a gas fired barbecue. There is a wind-up blind to provide shade from the sun. On the upper balcony you can take coffee & croissants and enjoy the view. Utility Room: This ground floor room has shower, basin and toilet. We've also tucked the washing machine in there. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen is not included but can be hired. There is a charge of 60 Euros to cover the cost cleaning at the end of your stay Other: There is a private parking space for the apartment, Number V003, close to the telephone box. We do recommend having a car. However it is possible to explore places by using the local bus and train service
