About the property

Villa in Magomadas, Sardinia, Italy - Peaceful Location, 5 Min Drive to the Nearest Beach

This modern villa set in its own grounds is not overlooked, ensuring a peaceful and relaxing stay. The villa is set on two levels with an external staircase in the style of the area. Situated on the outskirts of Magomadas down a short unmade road, with large pool and various patios, barbecue and games room with pool table and darts etc. The Medieval town of Bosa is less than 10 mins drive, and the lively beaches of Bosa Marina and Porto Alobe are even closer. Local activities include diving, swimming, walking, sailing, cycling, fishing and windsurfing. For golfing enthusiasts, the Arena Golf and Country Club is 45 mins away in Oristano. The villa is within easy reach of Alghero Airport and is about 45 mins drive south along a breathtaking coastal road.

About Annelies Swan

We live in England, both retired, with two grown up sons and two grandchildren, not forgetting Jack our Golden Cocker Spaniel, who travels with us to Sardinia each time we go there. Annelies is Swiss and speaks German as well as French. We are good friends with an English couple who emigrated to Bosa 10 years ago and who act as our agents in Sardinia.

Annelies Swan purchased this villa in 2006

Why Annelies Swan chose Oristano province

We fell in love with the area and purchase the plot of land and had the villa built approx. 8 years ago.

We loved the rural setting with panoramic view towards the sea, the unspoilt countryside around the house, the Orchard and large garden with stone wales surrounding the private plot. The property is not overlooked and provides an ideal haven to totally and immediately relax in. Alghero airport is only 40 to 50 minutes drive away, along the most beautiful and well maintained coastal road.

What makes this villa unique

The villa is just 6 minutes walk to the nearest village and 5 minutes by car to the nearest sandy beach at Port Alabe. The historical town of Bosa can be reached by car in 10 minutes. If a lively beach is required then Bosa Marina offers plenty of beach restaurants, bars etc and there are numerous secluded sandy beaches in picturesque coves along the Western coast line.

The private pool and large patios, barbecue and games room make the guests want to stay around the Villa and beautiful surroundings, enjoying the fruits from the orchard during the month of June to September, looking over vineyards and olive orchards onto the sea.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Many of our guests have commented that they were completely relaxed in the Tuscan type surroundings.

Beautiful location, excellent villa

  • 4 of 5

Photograph does not do it justice, facilites excellent, kitchen very well equipped. Town of Bosa 10 mins drive away so on an evening you can either relax in the quiet of the villa whilst watching the sun disappear over the sea or go to Bosa Marina for a meal and an evening stroll on the beach. My only extra would be for Wifi but easily resolved by using the mobile data. Air conditioning unit broken but the agent had it fixed within a day.

The best place to stay for a vacations

  • 5 of 5

We visited villa 7/2010 for a week with our friends. Everything was perfect, even better than we expected. Very nice, clean, comfortable villa with eferything what we needed. Nice garden with lots of fruits available for us and our children. Very peacefull place out of civilisation- what we prefer. Swimming pool was perfect especially for children, barbecue available was also very comfortable. We never spended our holiday in better place. If it will be possible, we would like to come there again next year.

The only thing I would like to find there next year is access to internet.

I thank the owner wery much for a perfect vacations!!!

Villa Il Sogno

  • 5 of 5

This property is fantastic for two families to share; giving two completely self contained apartments with large, airy, comfortable rooms. The property is even better than described on the website with great facilities and fantastic views set in a completely private spot on the hillside. The games room is an extra bonus that went down really well with the children and the pool and poolside facilities make days at the villa thoroughly enjoyable. The BBQ by the pool is the biggest we'd ever seen and we made good use of it. The owners were extremely helpful and ready on the phone on the couple of occasions that we had queries. The track leading to the villa is rough but the privacy and position of the villa make this worth while and there is a lovely orchard with the property from which we picked our own fruit.

The local beaches were good but it is well worth travelling to the quartz beaches near Oristano and Neptune's Grotto past Alghero is lovely although Alghero is not easy to navigate around but the drive to Alghero is breathtaking! The one restaurant in Magomadas looked lovely and was so booked in advance that we didn't get to go there; so book early.

Sardinian Paradise

DO NOT be deceived by the pictures on the website...... they simply do not do this property justice!!!! When we first arrived, we did struggle to find the property and although we could catch glimpses from the road, we couldn't actually get to it and ended up with lots of locals on mopeds leading us round!! Eventually we arrived but a small piece of advice... make sure your hire care has enough power to make it up the steep driveway, ours didn't!!!

The property and grounds quite literally blew us away, it is the most wonderful place we have ever stayed. The facilities are exceptional and were fully utilised throughout our stay. The largest of the 2 bbq's is enormous and you feel as if you are cooking in Lilliput... The pool is great, as is the gamesroom. The beds are comfy as are the sofas in the lounge which were used now and again for catching up with the latests olympics news on the TV.

We did lots of self-catering as eating out was very expensive (unless you all had pizzas which were lovely and good value) and found the cooking facilities to be very excellent with utensils for everything.

The local beaches are very good but we did make the effort on several occasions to travel both ways for over an hour, south the quartz beaches are stunning and well worth the journey. Neptunes cave is an absolute must but we are quite easily pleased really and our 4 children enjoyed themselves with little additional entertainment (ages 12 and 14).

The sunset from the villa each evening was so beautiful and has provided us with the most stunning holiday photos ever. Watching our last sunset was positvely painful. Picking fresh fruit each day from the garden was such a special treat.

This holiday villa offered us everything we were dreaming of, and lived up to it's name of Villa Il Sogno (Villa of Dreams). All we want is peace and quiet, lovely beaches, a bbq and lovely company, what more could a family wish for.

Ticking the boxes for recommended holiday-seekers was not easy as we believe that you can find everything on this list with a bit of effort and a car. The steep garden and driveway would, in our opinion, exclude someone with mobility issues and possibly very young children. However, any other families/couples, would be more than happy staying here.

We will certainly return as soon as we possibly can. Thank you so much.

Il Sogno

  • 4 of 5
