This superb luxury villa has been carefully furnished and fully equipped to ensure that it will provide guests with the perfect base for a wonderful and memorable holiday. It is set in a large, flat, landscaped garden within a small and exclusive residential area in the village of Calonge. (We like send you a set of extra photos, so that you can get a really true and accurate picture of everything, when considering your shortlist of villas to choose from). The villa and pool are not overlooked and are south-facing to get the sun all day, but with plenty of shady retreats when desired. There are magnificent beaches and sandy coves nearby, and the local area also has beautiful coastal and countryside walks to enjoy. There are lots of fun activities for young people, including all the usual water sports, horse riding, karting, quads, etc, and a large water park nearby. There are two bikes at the villa. Our agents live closeby and will be happy to provide you with any advice you need.

About the Owner

We are a couple in our late fifties, have been married for 35 years, (where did it go!), with two sons who have now left home, and we think ourselves very lucky indeed to own such a beautiful villa in such a beautiful part of the world.

Before building our villa in Calonge six years ago, we knew that we wanted our villa to be in a location:- where we could walk into the local village - which was not overlooked - was on a large, flat plot - was south-facing - and which had lovely uninterrupted views!

It was a very tall order and we had to spend many years waiting for exactly the right location to become available but, in the end, the exclusive development of 'Puig Rosell', became available and we were lucky enough to be on spot to snap up exactly the location we had always dreamed.

A Beautiful Family Villa with Amazing Pool

We spent 5 nights in Barcelona ahead of driving down to this wonderful villa. It was peaceful and private, and the children adored the pool. It was difficult to get them away from it! We were well looked after by the the owner before we went to the villa. Great email communication meant peace of mind! Also, Sam was great while we stayed at the villa. The pool was the highlight of our holiday. The house was comfortable and the facilities were spot on. A home from home. We could walk to local restaurants, and the small town, but some of the walk was on the road so you have to be careful, particularly if coming home in the dark! I warmly recommend this villa to anyone, and I would definitely go back there!

Fantastic Holiday at Casa Oriol !!

All our family have had a really fantastic 2 weeks at Casa Oriol.

The villa is clean, airy and fresh - and had absolutely everything we needed during our holiday.

The pool is great, with plenty of space for lounging, and it's very sunny all day.

The garden is large with lots of mature trees and shrubs, which means that there's always plenty of space for everyone to spread out into - and the pergola & hammock were especially popular !! - and we played lots of games on the boules area.

The area itself has lots of lovely beaches within short driving distance, and there are plenty of great local restaurants to choose from.

Douglas (the owner) made the booking process easy and clear, and provided us with all the info we needed before we left. Samantha (the local agent who lives nearby) was very helpful and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble.

So all in all, we had a really special holiday - everything was perfect - what more can we say, except that we will definitely be going back, and we would highly recommend Casa Oriol.

For us, the villa and it's location was perfect in every way - and after many years of research, it was exactly what we knew we had always wanted, and had been waiting literally 10 years to find! We, (and, thankfully, all our guests over the last 5 years), believe that our villa has the unique qualities and attributes which makes it stand out from all the excellent villas you have to choose from and, having had many years of family villa holidays ourselves, we are really happy to be able to offer our villa, and our help and advice, to all prospective guests - in the belief that everyone who has their holidays at Casa Oriol will have a really wonderful and memorable holiday - just as we have done. Coast/Beach:

The area is renowned for its long golden beaches, most of which have 'Blue Flag' status, and there are also many beautiful small sandy bays - all within close driving distance. The bustling fishing port, marina, and long tree-lined promenade, at Palamós is less than 10 mins drive to the north (fresh fish on sale here daily). The more cosmopolitan resort of Platja D'Aro is the same distance to the south. Or if you prefer smaller coves, there are plenty, try Calella, Llafranc, Sa Tuna and Tamariu.

Travel:

Getting to the villa is very easy indeed - with superb road and rail links, and a good choice of airports. Many airlines fly into 'Girona' which is only 40 minutes drive to the villa, and 'Barcelona' and 'Perpignan' airports are only about 90 minutes drive. Although a car is not essential, we suggest that you will get the very best out of your holiday if you have one, and hiring a car is easy. Wherever you are coming from, we will provide you with all advice, and clear directions to the villa.

Distances:

There are a great number, and a wide variety, of wonderful places to visit, all within short driving distances of the villa. Here are just a few suggestions: Figueres 70km, Girona 40km, La Bisbal 25km, Banyoles 10km, Pals 10km, St Feliu de Guixols 10km, Platja D'Aro 8km, Palamós 5km. You can drive to the Railway Station at 'Caldes de Malavella' only 30km, leave your car free of charge, and catch a train into, and back from, the centre of Barcelona. We'll be happy to help you with full advice.

Special interest holidays:

Many guests staying at the villa have mentioned the very wide variety of bird life on show around the villa and the area.

These have included:- Bee-Eaters - Red-rumped Swallows - Pallid Swifts - Ortolan Buntings - Blue Rock Thrushes and, of course, the beautiful Golden Oriole (Oriolus oriolus) after which the villa is named, because a pair were nesting on the villa plot when we first visited the site.

Also, look out for the Copt Owls who regularly use the top of the poolside shower at night as a lookout post when hunting - we often enjoy watching them when we are sitting out at night on the poolside terrace above the pool.

Further Details:

There are two very good restaurants 'La Jovita' and 'Can Tia', literally 5 mins flat walk from the villa. It's great not having to take the car, but please note that a short stretch of the road has no footpath and very great care must be taken on this stretch. We provide torches for walking down, and back to, the village and the local restaurants at night.

The four-star 'masia' restaurant 'La Figuera' is situated on the hill just behind the villa and is just a few minutes away by car. This restaurant and another villa are to the rear of our villa, but they don't affect our privacy. There are, of course, many other excellent restaurants within close driving distance.

There are two excellent, large supermarkets in the village, 'Valvi', and 'Suma' both within 5 mins drive and, if you don't fancy cooking one night, Suma also has an excellent take-away Rotisseria.

The village also has all the normal butcher and baker shops, banks, pharmacy, medical centre, internet cafe and a very good weekly street market on Thursdays.

If you wish, we will arrange to have our agents, Jim and Sam, meet you when you arrive, to show you around the villa, and also demonstrate how everything works. They live close by and will also be happy to help you out with any problems, questions, or queries, you might have during your stay. They will, of course, also respect your privacy during your stay.

We have been on villa holidays ourselves for many years, and we know how important it is to get your choice right. 1. A 25% deposit is required to secure booking, please.
2. A breakage deposit of £250/€250 is required with the final balance, please - refunded to you less any breakages (nb we have never yet retained any of anyone's security deposit).
3. Final balance to be paid 8 weeks before the holiday, please.
4. We recommend that you take out holiday insurance because, if you have to cancel after the final balance has been paid, we cannot provide any refund - unless we can re-book your dates.

- Changeover day is Saturday, but we may be able to be flexible outside peak periods.

- Please arrive at the villa after 4pm on arrival day, and depart before 10am on departure day - this ensures that everyone has a very clean tidy villa for their holiday.

To ensure the highest security, we will only use the 'Safe Payment Methods' recommended by Owners Direct, so as to protect holidaymakers and ourselves from potential fraud.

We would prefer the 'Bank to Bank Transfer' method as this is the safest and most secure for all parties - and guests can choose to pay into our UK bank account (Lloyds), or into our Spanish bank account (Bankia) - in Sterling, or in Euros, whichever is preferred. If you would prefer to pay by cheque, we can discuss this option.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: All the bedrooms have ample built-in cupboard space, bedside tables and bedside lamps. All the bedrooms have excellent remote-control ceiling fans to keep you cool at bedtime, and there are also two large portable upright fans available to keep you cool in the rest of the villa, if the going gets a bit hot. All three bedrooms are also fitted with excellent window insect blinds, so that the windows can be left open at night for extra coolness, if preferred. A cot and a highchair are available on request, at no extra charge. Wireless broadband internet access is available for a reasonable weekly charge. The villa is cool in the summer, and has full double-glazing and central heating for the cooler winter months, and so is ideal for visiting throughout the year. Also included in the price, should you wish it, is our 'meet and greet' service where you will be met and shown to, and around, the villa when you arrive. The pool will be checked, cleaned and maintained at least twice every week. Outside: The garden is large, planted with palms, cactus, shrubs, herbs, trees and ground cover, and also has a large area of grass lawn. It is landscaped with pathways and stone walls throughout, and includes a games area for boules or badminton, with all equipment provided. It is gated and fully enclosed, with secure parking for up to 2 cars. There is a large feature hand-built BBQ made from local stone. There is also a large pergola built over a circular walled area which can be used for having morning coffee, or more al fresco eating, or just sitting, or better still, hammocking, in the shade. Another feature of the garden is the large summerhouse, used mainly for storage. Outdoor garden furniture, chairs, sun loungers, and sun umbrellas, are provided for use within the garden, or on the extensive paved area around the pool. The villa is on a small prestigious residential development, is adjacent to a beautifully landscaped park area, which also has a small play area for infants nearby. Utility Room: Modern boiler supplying constant hot water on demand, and central heating if required for winter bookings. There is a large Summerhouse in the garden with Pool Toys, Petanque Games, Two Bicycles, Extra Chairs, Beach Equipment etc., Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The price includes all gas, electricity, water, linen and towels (including beach towels!). The villa is thoroughly cleaned before and after each booking. An extra clean/laundry can be arranged for a reasonable additional fee. Pool maintained twice-weekly Other: There is an outdoor covered dining terrace with another large dining table and chairs for six people. It overlooks the swimming pool, has uninterrupted views to the wooded hillside, and has steps down to the poolside terrace and the landscaped garden.
