About Angela and Steve

We purchased our property after visiting Puglia on a day trip to Italy and falling in love with the area. Initially it was to be our holiday home for retirement. However, as a former contracts manager in construction and police officer both very demanding roles, we decided to make a life change and move here. We haven't looked back since and hope you will love Puglia as much as we do.

Angela and Steve purchased this villa in 2005

Why Angela and Steve chose Brindisi area

We pride ourselves on high standards of cleanliness and attention to detail. We have been living here for 10 years and have a good understanding of the language and events/places of interest to pass on to our guests. Although there aren't any bad wines, we can recommend the best ones to try and organise wine tours for you to sample the local wine before you buy.

The garden/pool area is very tranquil and maintained to a very clean high standard.

What makes this villa unique

We are on hand 24/7 should we be required and are happy to help with advice if required and restaurant bookings. However, we keep a low profile during your stay and the pool is solely for guests use.

In addition, the patio surrounding the villa has a further wall/shrubbery with 4 small gates which can be kept closed to enable very young children to play safely. The villa is equipped with automatic air conditioning units which deliver hot or cool air. The lounge has a feature open fireplace for romantic evenings during the cooler months. Brilliant time..... We highly recommend a "Villa Poggio" holiday!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time at villa Poggio, (two adults, two teenage kids). The villa was spacious, great décor and

very clean, everything you require.

The outside area, provided a perfect size patio, large table and BBQ (of which we enjoyed very much). Villa Poggio is in good

size grounds, with a very large well kept swimming pool, in private tranquil surroundings, perfectly positioned

for the sunshine, giving us hours of fun.

Lots to see and do: Everything was very closely accessible. Many beautiful historic towns/cities to see (recommend

White city, Ostuni ) incredible views.

Various local large food shops, markets, beaches and an abundance of extremely good and well priced restaurants. We even

visited a local go kart track, a great time was had.

Thank you very much, Steve and Angela for being most gracious, helpful hosts... nothing seemed to much trouble, two

extremely lovely people. Your assistance definitely helped make our holiday a great one !!

Fantastic !

  • 5 of 5

Steve and Angela are superb hosts. Great communications and directions in advance and they were always available for recommendations and help.

Villa is excellent. Great layout and everything works as it should. Very private with a wonderful garden full of fruit trees. Pool is brilliant - big enough for swimming as well as having fun.

Location is good too - lots of things to do only a short drive away. It seems that every day there is a concert or a festival or cultural event nearby. Lots of music and fireworks. Good beaches are close by and the historical towns of Ostuni, Alberobello, Lecce and Brindisi are all within easy reach. Everything you might need (supermarkets, post office etc) is available in San Vito, only 5 minutes away.

We had a great holiday. Didn't want to leave and would love to return. Highly recommended +++

Lovely villa, great pool, good ameneties, secluded location

  • 5 of 5

Villa Poggio is in a secluded location surrounded by olive groves, but is within easy reach of the local town and its ameneties, and great local beaches, which are perfect for young kids, are only a 15 minute drive away.

We (family of four with 2 kids aged 10 & 7) thoroughly enjoyed our week. The villa and its grounds are lovely and the pool is great - the kids only left it to either eat, sleep or go to the beach! It has two bedrooms (both with aircon - vital during the sultry Italian evening heat) and is perfect for a family of four. The lovely owners Steve and Angela are also on hand to provide valuable local knowledge.

It also has good facilities - beach towels are provided, there's a tv, dvd and x-box console (for those who want to spend their holiday watching tv!) and a selection of books. There's a purpose-built barbecue, access to a modern washing machine and beach umbrellas and chairs to borrow if required.

You always take a chance when choosing a villa on the internet, never quite knowing what you've let yourself in for until you arrive. With this villa, however, we hit the jackpot! Our only regret is that we only spent a week there and not a fortnight! We'll certainly return.

Love villa Poggio and Ange and Steve

  • 5 of 5

This a lovely cosy villa with a great pool in a quiet location but within easy reach of shops and restaurants. Ange and Steve the owners could not have been more welcoming and helpful. They live on site but you would hardly know unless you wanted to. San Vito is a lovely town with a real Italian flavour. Nice beaches only a few minutes drive away. Stayed here several times now and will definitely be back.

  • 5 of 5

I have never stayed in such well equipped accomodation and have no hesitation in recommending villa poggia. The pool particularly was amazing with a spectacular surround of succulents and cacti Our thanks to Angela and Steve for a superb holiday, helped by their local knowledge we were able to find some lovely beaches and restaurants. Daisy and Charlie added to the charm.

A wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

It's hard to say anything original that hasn't already been said by the other reviewers! This villa is just brilliant and the pool is outstanding! Angela and Steve have done everything to ensure this villa has everything you could possibly need on holiday and more besides! Everything is immaculate and the pool area is a total haven of peace and beautiful planting. You really totally relax the minute you arrive. All the local restaurants recommended were very good as was the supermarket, just a few minutes away. We soon found our way around with the excellent map provided and Steve's directions for places a bit further afield. Santa Sabina was particularly lovely and very close by. It is great having their knowledge of the area at your fingertips, it really saves time and helps you filter out where you want to go. We were due to move on after a week but couldn't tear ourselves away so stayed on a bit longer as there was a small gap in their bookings which was a real bonus. As mentioned by others, Daisy and Charlie are real sweeties but absolutely no way intrusive, they just wag their tails a lot as you pass by! We had a wonderful time here, super accommodation, lots of sun and great food and wine.

San Vito dei Normanni is 1km from Villa Poggio. Aside from all the usual amenities expected of a town with 20,000 inhabitants, the area is also of historical importance. Ostuni (known locally as ‘The White City’ so named for its white walls and its typically white-painted architecture) is approx 20 minute drive. Lecce ‘The Florence of South’ so called because of the quantity of important baroque monuments found there, is approx 40 minute drive.

Further Details:

There is a public tennis court within walking distance of the villa approx 500m. Fasano Zoo Safari and Fun Park is a brilliant day out for all, also Alberobello known as the Capital of the Trulli is very unusual with lots of buildings known as trullo. The trullo is a fascinating architectural feature of this area of Puglia, a building with conical roof made without mortar. Alberobello has special status internationally - designated a UNESCO world heritage site - because its collection of some 1,500 trulli in an urban environment is unique. Some of the trulli are now used for stores, restaurants, and lodging. But many are still inhabited by locals, who are very friendly to visitors. Alberobello is a tourist attraction, but it is not overrun, especially away from the main tourist honey pot, and most visitors are Italian. The town is the centre of an annual pilgrimage to the Basilica dedicated to the martyr saints Cosma and Damiano. Areas to visit, include the two trulli zones, the Basilica, Trullo Sovrano, the trullo church of St Antony and the trulli museum.

The protected coast and the nature reserve of Torre Guaceto is comprised of and encloses a precious stretch of an uncontaminated and charming coast where time seems to have stopped. The park extends itself at approximately 1000 hectares of land and 2000 hectares of sea that makes up an overall stretch of coast of approx 7km. The tall sand dunes which peak on the sea are studded in the summer season with lillies and are overcome by century-old junipers. Cripta di San Biagio 15 mins away from Villa Poggio (and signposted) is the 'Cripta di San Biagio', one of the most important 'Rock Churches' in the region. Inside this cave church, you will find 12th Century paintings, and exquisite, richly decorated frescos. There are daily markets selling fresh local produce.

A complimentary welcome parcel of local produce is supplied on guest’s arrival.
