The apartment was completed in 2005 using quality finishings. Fully furnished, very spacious and boasts a 30ft x 15ft lounge/dining area, 3 good sized bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, large modern well equipped kitchen, 2 verandas adjoining lounge and kitchen. All rooms have ceiling fans and stay very cool even during very hot summer months. Ample parking outside. Ideally situated in the Eastern Algarve close to roads for access to the best beaches, golf courses, towns and attractions in the Algarve.

I first went to Portugal on my honeymoon many moons ago & fell in love with the glorious beaches on the Algarve.

So when I got divorced a few years after I decided to realise my dream of owning a place in the sun & wanted a holiday home where I could take my 2 young sons.

Why Garry Burnell chose Monte Gordo

After researching the various regions & properties extensively I decided on the Eastern Algarve as it wasn't as commercialised as the Western end providing a more authentic feel with traditional towns & restaurants.

I fell in love with Monte Gordo as the town was very family friendly with a good selection of bars & restaurants set beside one of the best beaches on the Algarve. So the area was sorted now to find a suitable apartment!

I discovered the Monte Fino complex being built a stones throw from Monte Gordo & originally was looking at a 2 Bed apartment but when I viewed my 3 bed it was in a different league, so spacious, light & airy.

Outside: Large swimming pool and terrace area within complex which is owned by an independent company who charge for access. (I will cover costs for up to 4 guests but any additional guests will have to pay the pool charges) Comment from guests who stayed last summer- The pool was worth every penny. It was never allowed to be busy. At all times manned with a life guard and also to keep out the people that didn't want to pay. The water was checked a number of times during the day. As you know our life surrounds swimming pools. The water felt on par with ozone water found in a health spa and not that of a public pool. Cafe serving snacks and drinks. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels supplied. These will be cleaned and ready for arrival. No maid service is supplied as this is a self catering apartment. Guests should provide their own towels for use at pool or beach.

Brilliant apartment, very well equipped.

As a family of 6 with 4 children under 8 we had a brilliant stay in this apartment. It was spacious, spotlessly clean and really well equipped with everything you need and more!

The pool area was perfectly laid out and suited all ages. It was also really clean and well kept.

The pool bar/cafe was very reasonably priced and had a decent selection available.

Location was really good a 15min walk (with a 4yr old) took us to the town where there are many many choices of places to eat and lots of shops and also to the very beautiful beach which again was very clean.

A few minutes drive took you to villa real and to a lidl and a pingu doce supermarket, we did walk this as well.

We hope this was the first of many visits! Really recommend staying here!

Excellent apartment in a beautiful location

The apartment was clean, very comfortable, spacious and located very close to the pool and cafe in the apartment complex, and the cafe had free wifi which delighted my 2 sons! Garry who owns the apartment was really helpful and quick to answer any queries we had. I had been worried the apartment might get too hot because there was no air conditioning but I had nothing to worry about because the apartment stayed lovely and cool with the patio doors open which let in a breeze and the ceiling fans that we only used occasionally to cool a room if we had been out for a few hours. The apartment was only a 10 minute walk to the town of monte Gordo and the beautiful beach and there was a good choice of restaurants and cafes in the town. I would highly recommend this accommodation and we hope to return!

Just got back from staying in this apartment and all i can say is WOW,the photos don't even come close to showing just how big and roomy it is.

The kichen has every thing you could think of needing and there is plenty of storage for clothes and is very clean.

The area is nice and quiete and only a short walk in to town,

There is a pool in the complex which is excellent.

This was the first time i have booked a holiday this way and Gary the owner has made it so easy answering any of my questions really quickly.

I would reccomend this apartment to anyone and i am hopefully booking in 2017 to go back.

Home in the Sun

We have stayed in this apartment twice with our family and will most certainly be going back soon.

The booking was very easy with Owners Direct putting us in contact with Garry, the owner, who was very approachable and answered all our silly questions from arranging airport transfers to making sure there was a hairdryer available.

The keys were sent to our UK address in plenty of time, and Garry also emailed 'instructions' for everything in the apartment, very useful..remember to read these, especially the one about unlocking the door, There is a special way with the key!

The apartment was very spacious and clean. We stayed with our blended family of 6 children and found space for everyone. The children particularly liked the pool table, variety of DVDs and medley of cards, board games and books, not that we spent much time inside, but great to fill odd moments while waiting for everyone to get ready.

As adults and parents the apartment was exceptional. A real home from home. Plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils If we said 'I could do with a...' we found it in a cupboard.The dishwasher and washing machine came in very handy and the large fridge kept all the fruit, salad and veg ( bought fresh from a store 5 mins walk away) pop, beer and wine chilled to perfection.There was also ample bed linens and tea towels, just like mums house!

The complex where the apartment is situated is fantastic. The swimming pool ( there is a nominal charge) is very clean and there are plenty of sun loungers, at siesta time we were sometimes the only ones using the pool, great for the kids.There is a bar/cafe close to the pool which does scrummy burgers and coffee, great for a midday snack, also ice cold beer and wine, perfect to get to know the locals.

A 10/15 minute walk down the road opposite and you come into Monte Gordo itself. a very Portuguese seaside town. Lots of bars and restaurants, quaint streets and shops to explore and a large clean, sandy beach.If you are looking for lots of night clubs and loud music, you may be disappointed, there is a casino, and a couple of night clubs, but most bars seem to close by midnight, but this just makes the whole ambiance of the town very family friendly. We also found the cost of meals, drinks, ice creams etc quite a bit cheaper than the main Algarve.

To sum up, we would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone who was looking for a temporary home in the sun, with all the comforts you would expect to find at your Mums house.

Fantastic Appartment

The apartment is very large and spacious - there were six adults in our party and plenty of room for us all. The property was spotless as was the surrounding area.

Garry, the owner was very helpful and i wouldn't hesitate to recommend this appartment to anyone - if returning to the area, I would love to stay here again.

The shops, beach, restaurants and bars are around 5-10mins walk away and there is everything there you would possibly want in such a gorgeous small town for a lovely and relaxed break. Ideal location for families.

Can't wait to go back!

This is the second time I have stayed at this apartment and can honestly say this will not be my last!

The apartment is very large and has plenty of room for all ages comfortably.

The property and surrounding areas are very clean. The owner was very helpful and i would recommend this to anyone!

The shops, beach, restaurants and bars are around 5-10mins walk away and there is everything there you would possibly want from a holiday in the sun! Had some really lovely meals and arranged some excursions from one of the local shops.

10 out of 10!!

On the outskirts of the city, 2.5km from Monte Gordo, is an IAAF accredited sports complex. The complex is equipped with modern facilities that attract top athletes. The complex caters for several sports and is used by UK Athletics for warm weather training. There is an 8-lane ‘polytan’ track at the complex together with indoor training facilities. Sports Available at VRSA Sports Complex: Athletics, Basketball, Handball, Gymnastics, Judo, Taekwondo, Tennis, Paddle Tennis, Table Tennis, Football, Rugby, Archery, Volleyball, Beach Volleyball (Monte Gordo Beach) Badminton, Sailing (Guardiana Naval Association), Triathlon, Weightlifting & Swimming. There are also over 12km of off road tracks that are waiting to be explored in the pine forests that lie between Monte Gordo and the city of Vila Real de Santo Antonio.


Pleasant 10 min walk past small nature reserve to Monte Gordo. Bikes can be hired locally and there is an excellent trail to explore within the nature reserve. Tavira was recently named by Lonely Planet as one of the best beaches in the world for children. It has a huge expanse of golden sand sheltered by dunes and a calm sea. It also has a European Union blue flag for cleanliness and safety. The Ilha da Tavira beach is accessed by ferry (€1.5) from the town.


Only 40 mins from Faro Airport Portugal. 90 mins from Seville Spain. Both are serviced by budget airlines either Easyjet or Ryanair. If you do not wish to hire a car we have an English driver who will meet you at Faro. Email for price. There is also a train that is 5 mins walk from apartment that runs to Faro.


10 mins walk from the large sandy beach and numerous bars, restaurants, boutiques and casino of the popular resort of Monte Gordo.

20 mins drive to quaint portuguese town of Tavira 'little Venice'. A day visit to Seville is only 2 hours away and the Spanish town of Ayamonte is 15-20 mins drive.

Further Details:

Monte Gordo is a typical Portuguese holiday town. Very family orientated and no evidence of rowdy pubs or nightclubs. Street market on most nights and a good selection of eating establishments. I highly recommended going to Praia Verde to eat at Pezinhos na areia. (toes in the sand). Check out their website. Fabulous food with a perfect setting on the beach.
