Beautiful, bright and airy 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom corner apartment in a private condominium with two terraces (35ft and 22ft long) peacefully situated with lovely views over local countryside, yet just two minutes from the friendly local market and shops, and 400 metres from the beach, it's a wonderfully relaxing place to spend your holiday.
The double rooms have Super-King size beds. All bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and drawers. Each room has fans, central vacuum, surround sound, electric shutters (providing complete darkness for sleeping if required), and patio doors onto the terraces. There are tables and chairs on the terraces. In the lounge there is WIFI, Smart TV, DVD player with memory stick capability and DVD library, iPod dock with cable for iphone, selection of board games. There are Leather sofas (one a sofa-bed), a comfortable leather recliner with matching footstool and a dining table which seats 8 before being extended.
The Master bathroom has a hydro-jet shower and bath, the en-suite has a walk-in rain-shower. There is a fully equipped kitchen and double bay underground garage with lift to all floors. Also parking bays outside the building.
There is a secure garden with heated pool which slopes at one end to give a shallow area for little ones, wooden sundecks to three sides, poolside WC/showers and play area for little ones on a rubberised surface. We have sun-loungers for your exclusive use. There is an entry-phone system. We have a high chair and a travel cot.
An hour from Lisbon, Sao Martinho is a friendly, relaxed community with a safe, sheltered beach and plenty of nice cafes and restaurants, which are all very good value. (It used to be the holiday destination of the Portuguese Royal Family). It's still a popular choice for Portuguese people and is considered 'real' Portugal. The south end of the beach is a nature reserve with a boardwalk around to the next village. In summer there are lifeguards and shade tents on the beach, water sports, bike rental on the prom, and often entertainment on the green.
It makes an excellent base for visiting interesting places like Obidos, Sintra, Fatima, Alcobaca etc. Surf beaches are close by, as are golf courses such as the award-winning Praia del Rey, Bom Successo and Royal Obidos. Also nearby - Historical sites and old palaces, riding, surfing, body-boarding, sailing, walking, paragliding, canoeing, caving, golf, bowling, waterpark, paddle-boarding, adventure parks, cinema, fishing. There is even a dinosaur coast and an old Roman city.

Another great holiday!
We returned to this flat having enjoyed our holiday last Easter. The flat is in a quiet, residential area a short walk from the bay and town. It is a pleasant walk through the old town to the beach. The flat is clean, spacious and comfortable. There is a good range of bars and restaurants within walking distance. We liked Cafe Rosa for a pre-dinner drink as it is friendly and not touristy. The Casa restaurant is good for a special meal. Gaivota (Seagull) is ideal for a lighter and cheaper meal. Foz do Arelho is lovely at sunset and the drive is very spectacular. We will certainly go again.

Super spacious apartment in a great location
We had a super time here. There was plenty of space for the four of us (all women 60+). We all loved San Martinho and the surrounding area and would stay here again. Thanks so much for the use of this lovely apartment.

Very clean and spacious apartment.
The apartment is very clean, spacious and comfortable. It is nicely furnished and the apartment has a great layout with a large, airy lounge, and a well equipped kitchen. The bedrooms are a good size as are the two bathrooms(one en-suite). The owner provided good customer service and was prompt with responses to queries. The apartment was conveniently situated for the Supermarket, fruit and vegetable market and pastry shop. We enjoyed the restaurants and one family restaurant is on the next street to the apartment. The beach was approximately 400 metres from the apartment and could be reached by walking through the pleasant old town and descending to the beach area via a lift!

Lovely holiday
This flat is ideal for two couples. The evening walk through the old town to the bay was enjoyable each time as we found new routes with interesting features and views. There are plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance. We used the pool almost every day. Parking on the street was easy outside the flat. The supermarket is also walkable. The rooms are spacious. We went off season so nights were nippy but the electric heaters coped well to make it cosy. We certainly plan to return.

Why they chose this property

We don't usually like going to the same place twice, but we love going to Sao Martinho. The town is so friendly and relaxing, yet we've never been bored as there are so many interesting places to visit within an hour's drive, including a number of world heritage sites and even a dinosaur coast. There are also lots of lovely beaches. It's an easy drive from Lisbon and there are lots of good restaurants at exceptional value. The bay is almost fully enclosed, making it the safest and warmest in Portugal. The Silver Coast is different from the Algarve - still relatively 'undiscovered', sophisticated yet charming, and not full of crowds. It's where the Portuguese like to go on holiday. In the area there's golf, water sports, a wine route and even a chocolate festival! We hope you enjoy it too!

What makes this property unique

Our apartment is on a corner of the building and isn't overlooked. The sun shines onto the kitchen terrace in the morning, so we love to eat breakfast in the sun, overlooking the garden and countryside, but as the sun moves round to the other terrace in the afternoon, the apartment always stays cool. The pool is heated from April to October, so the refreshing sea breezes don't make the water too cool to swim and it's open all year round. There's also a WC and shower room by the pool. It's so convenient for the charming and friendly local market and shops and it's only 400 metres to the beachfront and restaurants, meaning no-one has to drive when going out in the evening.
