About Colin & Chris Davis

We have lived in Essex, England for a number of years and built our own chalet bungalow, on the site of our old bungalow, in 2002. We both taught Physical Education for many years, before Colin managed sports centres and contracts for the probation service; and Chris sold new homes. We are both now retired and both love sport. Chris plays golf and Colin still plays cricket and golf. Previously, we both played badminton.

In 2008 we set up a junior section at our local cricket club and now Colin coaches and Chris helps administer a group of over 50 7-16 year olds!

Colin & Chris Davis purchased this villa in 2007

Why Colin & Chris Davis chose Poli Crysochous

We searched for an overseas property for a number of years and finally set our hearts on Cyprus in 2006, after considering both Spain and Portugal. Reasons for our decision are the climate, the local food, the culture, the people and the outdoor life. We chose the Polis/Latchi area because it ticks all our boxes and is also fairly unspoilt, there are so many place to visit and has the added benefit of the Akamas National Park close by. The 'Beach House' is our dream location. We enjoy the summer months in the UK and aim to spend most of the winters in Cyprus.

What makes this villa unique

We are so lucky to have found the Beach House as it is such great place to relax and base to explore the local area. The decision to buy it was immediate.

We never tire of the views from our house. It is especially stunning at sunset! The garden is our own design and some of our neighbours have used our ideas.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Dear Colin & Christine, I just wanted to thank you for our stay in your lovely Beach House it was comfortable, very peaceful and the view was beautiful. We swam most days. Please pass on our thanks to Shirley she is so friendly and helpful. It would be nice to return sometime, and we will be telling our friends about it! G D.

Hi Colin & Chris, We did indeed have a great time. The Beach House was perfect for us to get away from it all with the luxury of all mod cons. We especially liked having our own private beach right on the doorstep and made full use of the facility. We will recommend it to our friends and hopefully be back ourselves some day, M & F B

Hi Colin, We had a wonderful holiday, thoroughly enjoyed every second. The area is so beautiful and the bungalow was perfect. It was so wonderful to have accommodation with absolutely everything you could need and more! Thank you once again for providing us with a very special holiday, Fond Regards, J & R

The Beach House is perfect. Set metres from the sea yet still private. Colin and Chris have furnished the house with everything you might possibility need which makes your stay very comfortable. In fact the bed is probably the most comfortable bed we have every had in holiday accommodation and as my husband has a bad back that is very important to us. We did hire a car and the road and signs are not bad we did get a little lost on arrival but it was dark but directions were spot on. Car hire gives you the freedom to eat out at night and also visit the supermarket in Polis. Shirley the housekeeper popped in during our stay to say hello and ask if we needed anything. Definitely recommend the Beach house to anyone wanting a quiet relaxing holiday.

An excellent tranquil spot yet near to facilities

  • 4 of 5

The property is excellently located and, unlike other localities along the coast, does not suffer from frontage onto a principal road. It is quiet at night, the main bedroom is not affected by extraneous light and we found the double bed comfy and supportive. We live in a very rural spot and also stay in very remote places so were worried we might find this too urban and close to neighbouring properties. Although the “gardens” of adjacent houses were open plan and were all occupied, at no point did we feel boxed in and bothered by the presence of others. The verandah sections are screened from each other. The direct access to the sea across the paved footpath into Latchi and down a tiny sandy slope was ideal, particularly for me as I’d discovered just before departure that I had broken a bone in the base of my foot and was already carrying a hamstring strain in the other leg. Although people were scattered along the beach, the small drop to it acts as a “ha-ha” so when sitting in the garden one cannot tell anyone is there.

The area is excellent for accessing walking country (by car to starting points) which sadly we were unable to explore as we usually would, although the Akamas Peninsula was probably still too hot. It was good to have boat facilities nearby too.

The house had everything that we needed and we found all chairs comfortable. On account of the above injuries, I had to spend some time at night in a single bed. The mattress was adequate, perhaps on the firm side, but through being restless, I had difficulty sleeping because of creaking springs/metal frame. We we were unable to get BBC I Player to work but we don’t go on holiday to watch TV so was no real issue for us.

We were really grateful to have had Shirley shop for us beforehand - it made such a difference to the start of the holiday when we were tired post-flight, and Andreas’ car hire was very good indeed and minimised hassle at collection/return. Colin, the owner, was extremely helpful and informative in all our contacts.

If travelling to Cyprus again, we would definitely return to the Beach House and would happily recommend it to friends. I would also be very happy to stay in this property as a female travelling alone. Thank you for the privilege of allowing us to use the Beach House.

Beautiful and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing two weeks staying at this lovely beach house. It's great to be able to sit in the lovely garden and pop down to the beach when we wanted to swim. There are also lovely beaches nearby and one of the highlights of the holiday was going out on the self drive boats from Latchi water sports. The house is well equipped and really is in a perfect location. Colin and Chris the owners were really helpful as well as Shirley who looks after the house . Couldn't recommend it more - a beautiful part of Cyprus and very quiet and unspoilt.

Comfortable beach house in a superb setting with wonderful views

  • 4 of 5

We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay at The Beach House next to Latchi. This is a modern property in a fantastic position by the sea with a quiet beach opposite. The facilities at the very attractive marina of Latchi are excellent and only a 10 minute stroll away along a beautiful coastal path. A visit to The Blue Lagoon in a hire boat is a must as it is like being in The Caribbean. Would definitely want to return to further explore the area.

Well equipped, spotless, nicely furnished, welcoming ... & a great location. Exactly as described!

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of presentation and welcoming feel of this little villa and, with it's wonderfully peaceful location, it ticked all the boxes for our honeymoon.

The owners were incredibly helpful, charming to deal with and their whole attitude to us was generous. The property reflected this.

We had a lovely holiday and "The Beach House" was exactly as described ... which was refreshingly honest.

The only negative was Owners Direct wanting us to download an App to find all the direction and arrival details of the property. Not everybody wishes to do this - nor trusts it!

Fortunately; the owners picked up on this and e-mailed all the information we needed ... another indication of their visitor care.

Thank you Colin and Chris!

Barrie and Jo

Exceptionally well fitted out villa in a brilliant location

  • 5 of 5

This two bedroomed villa is right on both the beach and a footpath that goes to Latchi in one direction and Polis in the other. It has everything you might need and more. In particular the TV and Wifi system are great (especially if , like us, you go out of season and the evenings are chilly). We had wonderful day time weather so could take advantage of the garden and its sea views. The owner's information both beforehand and in the villa were excellent and they checked on our return that we had a good time (which we most definitely did). There were only two of us and there was plenty of room - it might be a bit tight for four adults. We would wholeheartedly recommend this villa but suspect its busier in the season around it.

The Akamas Peninsula, with its own ecosystem, is an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is home to 530 plant species, 168 bird species and an abundance of wildlife, butterflies and reptiles. The wild flowers are at their best in spring, and the sandy bays, deep gorges and a varied landscape have helped to make this area a National Park. Lara bay is an important turtle breeding site and it's beach at is one of the most beautiful in Cyprus.

A variety of yachts and boats are moored in Latchi harbour, where boat trips and jeep safari tours leave daily to the Akamas Peninsula. In addition to the fine rstaurants, Latchi also boasts a watersports centre.

Polis is a small delightful, traditional town, centred around a main square, which features a variety of small shops, a fruit and fish market, tavernas and restaurants all selling good local produce. The town really buzzes during the tourist season!

The Beach House is situated on the beach. It takes less than 1 minute to walk to the beach.

Paphos airport is situated approximately 50km from the property and takes about 50 minutes to drive. Car hire is not essential, but if you wish to explore the local area, it is advised. There is a good local bus service and taxis are available in Latchi and Polis.

Latchi - 1.5km. Polis - 3km. Prodromi - 1.5km. Paphos - 36km.

Further Details:

There are local supermarkets and restaurants in Latchi. There is a bakers in Prodromi. Supermarkets, restaurants, banks, a pharmacy and a variety of other shops are in Polis. A large 'Tesco' style supermarkets (Papantonios) is also situated in Polis. The area is extremely suitable for walking and cycling. Bikes can be hired in Polis.

Modern Paphos is divided into two districts. The lower town, Kato Paphos, with its little harbour and the upper town, Ktima, once the original town centre, which lies to the north. Most of the important archaeological sites are in Kato Paphos, including the Mosaics, Tomb of the Kings and Lighthouse. Across the harbour lies the fort and together with the multitude of restaurants, tavernas and shops make this the most popular tourist area on the island.
