Fantastic Extremadura! Quality and Privacy in a Unique Rural Setting
Surrounded by private garden and patio, our stone 'casita' is a charming self catering cottage for two people in a beautiful, peaceful rural setting. The stone construction that was formely used for wine making has been lovingly restored to provide privacy and comfort with an "away from it all" feeling. It has a fantastic panoramic view of the Sierra de Gredos mountains and the fertile valley below. Explore this surprisingly lush area of Extremadura with wonderful oak and chesnut forests and amazing natural pools of deep, clear mountain water. Lovely circular walks can be done right from the cottage or use as a base from which to explore the charming villages of our valley, access the amazing Monfragüe Natural Park or visit the Heritage cities of Plasencia and Trujillo.

About the Owner
I am half English / Spanish. I was born in Barcelona had most of my schooling in England and in 1996 graduated with a Ceramics Degree from a London Art College. Cesar, my husband and I met in London and soon moved to Madrid where I carried on with my Ceramics, worked for a Spanish Interiors Magazine and taught Art classes at the British Council Schools. Since 2003 we now live with our 3 daughters in our farm in Northern Extremadura where we also have our studio. We so enjoy living in this remote part of Spain and still enjoy daily its amazing scenery, the changing seasons and the wonders of the Natural world. We have been welcoming guests to for a few years now and find it SUPER rewarding.A real inspiration for us to meet wonderful people many of whom have now become cherished friends!!

Perfect little hideaway. Very comfortable and full of quirky little touches. Fantastic views with great walks nearby. Welcome hamper was a real treat with homemade jams and bread.
Tranquility at De La Cava
Our stay at the casita De La Cava was very enjoyable.
The hosts, Emma and Cesar, are close at hand, but left us to make ourselves at home in the comfortable, well-equipped stone cottage.
Their dog, Mia, greeted us at our front door most mornings, and she loved to accompany us on our long walks along the lanes and the little river and through the woodland that surrounds the cottage.
The view of the Gredos mountains from the vine-covered patio provides peaceful entertainment as the lights and shadows change throughout the day. The small orchard attracts a variety of birds and the figs are yummy!
Villanueva de la Vera is a charming village with a good selection of bars and restaurants with friendly staff.
The main road gives access to several other local villages nestled in the foothills of the Gredos range, and there are many interesting and historic towns within a two-hour drive.
Our holiday was a great get-away break.
Charming and quaint while providing all the requisite amenities
A wonderfully unique holiday experience. The view from the terrace where we ate our meals was positively stunning. Emma and Cesar were warm, friendly and informative without being intrusive. Delacava is the perfect place to find peace and tranquility. We absolutely loved it and would certainly recommend it.
The perfect get away!
Our week at DeLaCava exceeded our expectations! The wonderful views of mountains and countryside is the perfect escape from city life, and nestled in the perfect location, the cottage offers everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The surrounding area is perfect for hiking! You can follow trails up the mountains to find beautiful clear water pools, or you can find similar pools in Villanueva de la Vera. If you like the outdoors then this is definitely for you! Thank you Emma and Cesar for everything, we hope to come back soon!
A terrace with a view - a cottage with charm
We stayed for a week this August (2016), whilst Emma & Cesar were doing a house-swap in the UK. You take a punt on these things -- booking a cottage online in a part of Spain you've never been to! -- but De la Cava exceeded all expectations. It was a lovely spot to enjoy the best that the La Vera region, in northern Extremadura, has to offer. And there is plenty to see and experience: great hiking in the Sierra de Gredos, pottering about medieval mountain villages, lazing on the lovely terrace with a glass of iced Vermouth with Mia the dog as company, and plunging into rock pools near the wild-west-named village of El Raso. One piece of advice: it's best not to rent a small car - the bumpy 2-3km track leading up to the property is not for economy models (as we found out). The old cottage is quite small but it has everything you'd need. And the pottery, made by the owners, is fabulous! We loved our stay there.
If I could give 6 stars I would, this delightful cottage is set in one of the most beautiful parts of Spain with views from the terrace of rolling hillsides on one side and of the majestic Gredos Mountains to the rear, The outside terrace is perfect for al fresco dining or for just reading a book and enjoying a glass of wine. The casita is beautiful and perfect for two, particularly if you want to get away from it all. The inside has been beautifully renovated by the owners with lovely quirky touches which add to its charm and everything you would need is provided including a small welcome pack of groceries on arrival, Emma and Cesar are gracious hosts and nothing is too much trouble. We had a wonderful couple of weeks and will certainly be returning in the future.
