Ground floor apartment with sunny rear patio opening on to beautifully landscaped gardens and private shared swimming pool. Situated in small, yet spacious complex, totally secure as it is accessible only to owners and guests. Small supermarket on-site and a large supermarket within 5 minutes walk. 2 minutes drive to Salgados Golf Course. Several good restaurants nearby, including the Michelin starred, sea facing Vila Joya. Short car ride to the old typical centre of Albufeira. Algarve shopping in nearby Guia has a hypermarket, small interesting shops, cinemas and bowling alley. In Guia - home of the famous chicken piri-piri, it is also possible to visit Sir Cliff Richard's vineyards. For children there are water slide parks and the Zoomarine Theme Park, where it is possible to swim with dolphins. For the more active, there are horse riding, scuba diving, jet skiing, to name but a few possibilities.

About the Owner

I am Portuguese by birth, but I have lived in England since my marriage in 1970. I qualified as a doctor from Lisbon Medical School (Portugal) and in the early 70s I worked in hospitals in the UK, but gave up medicine to bring up my 2 children, who incidentally are now both doctors having married colleagues! My husband is a GP now considering retirement. When he retires, we intend to spend more time in Portugal. After bringing up my children I worked as a Relate counsellor for 13 years.

My husband and I are celebrating our Ruby wedding in 2010. What I love most is sunshine! Very closely behind comes the family, especially the grandchildren aged 7 and 5, and now a 5 months old Labrador puppy. My interests are reading, music, travel and cinema and the theatre.

Lovely accommodation

This apartment is in an ideal location for beach lovers or for those who just like to laze around the pool. The garden is beautifully landscaped and the pool well maintained and cleaned every morning. The apartment is well equipped and perfect for self catering. It was useful to have a safe available. There is an excellent Apolonia supermarket within 5 minutes walk of the complex. Although the apartment does not have wifi, there are plenty of places where you can log in for free - the closest being the Hotel Vila Galé opposite the complex. During our stay the complex was very quiet, possibly due to the time of year. The beach is lovely with three beach cafés offering snacks or a more extensive menu. Sunbeds and parasols are available to hire ( 12€ for two per day) . All in all, a great place for a relaxing holiday.

Ideal location for older couple or family with young children , the complex is fully enclosed and safe , and the majority of the time We had the pool to ourselves , The apartment has everything for a comfy stay , sunbeds , garden table and chairs , etc , as can be seen from the photo the beech, along with 3 very good cafe bars are 50 yards down the road , other cafe/bars are within walking distance ,If you are looking for Blackpool go somewhere else , if you want to have a good relaxing break you might have found it.

Fantastic Location

We have just spent a week in this apartment. This is our 14th year back to Gale and we must say this is one of the best apartments we have had. The location was absolutely perfect. Located a short stroll from our favourite Gale beach. Supermarkets a short distance away on foot or by car. The apartment is fully equipped with everything you need. A big bonus is the walk in wet room with a brilliant powerful shower for a change. The pool area is clean and tidy and approx 50yds from the back gate. This is a typical Portuguese apartment in a lovely area.

Nearly Perfect

Second time at this well located apartment, noted that feedback left previously had been actioned (teapot!). Pictures don't do it justice so probably could do with an update. Nice new wet room this time, so after a day on the beach (5min amble down the road) it's a great feature - certainly better than many 'Algarve dribblers'.

It's a clean and well appointed apartment, secure and well placed for the miles of beaches, local restaurants and excellent Apolonia Supermarket nearby.

The immaculate gardens are host to the local cat population who keep you company if BBQ'ing in the evening - located near the huge pool you will get some noise in the daytime, but if your in it then it's not an issue!

Of the many properties we have rented over the years, this represents great value. It's a compact but efficient kitchen & utility with all the utensils you need, more than enough for our needs.

Be aware that Portugal and Spain have lost Freeview English channels over a network dispute, so limited English voices are available - which I think is a bonus...

I'd like some more comfortable patio furniture if I was being picky, but there are options available if you look about 😉

Having said all of that, it's a property we would happily own and will use again!

Dissapointed

Allthough a good position for beach and restaurants. This is not suitable for more than two people only one setee so i dont know where anyone else would sit comfortably definately not suitable for 4 adults. No english channels on tv. needs update. The grounds and pool being loveley.

Owner's Response: In response to the above review, I would say that, as mentioned, the location is "in good position for beach and restaurants".  As for the interior, there are two light armchairs and a settee.  However, on this occasion, as it was known there were would be only two occupants, both armchairs were kept in the main bedroom.   When we get enquiries for 4 people, we explain that the apartment is ideal for 2 adults with 2 children, although it can accommodate 4 adults.    As far as English TV channels are concerned, BBC, ITV and Channel 4 ceased to be available in the whole of Portugal (and most of Southern Europe) in February 2014, thus the TV receiver box we had bought recently ceased to function. All the ex-pat communities are still looking for a solution to this problem. These facts are all explained in a newspaper article which is in the "apartment folder" for guests. It is however possible to watch CNN and Al-Jazeera in English.  There is also Euro Sport in German.  As far as entertainment is concerned, we stock a number of DVDs for both adults and children.

Location

My sister and I decided to buy this apartment because of its proximity to Gale Beach. We both love the idea of just being able to walk down to the beach in 5 minutes, without having to get in a car. In fact, it is very nice not to have to use a car at all, as we can also walk to a very good supermarket and to several restaurants nearby. Gale Beach is very lovely,and has very easy access. I recall with great delight sitting at the beach bar last December writing Christmas cards under a bright blue sky, facing an equally bright blue sea. The apartment is in a small very private and beautiful complex. Busy Albufeira is only a short drive away, and yet there we are in this peaceful haven. It is not infrequent for us to be the only people sitting by the pool.

Travel:

Faro airport 40km away. Car not essential as all facilities on-site. If required we can advise re good car hire firm and can arrange reasonably priced transport from Faro airport.

Distances:

Albufeira is less than 10 mins away by car. Zoo Marine and Aqualand Algarve are within 10 mins drive, and from Gale the many picturesque and historic sites in the Algarve (both east and west) can be reached with ease along the new motorway which now extends as far as Lagos in the west.

Further Details:

Gym facilities are available for a daily fee at the Vila Gale Praia hotel, only a few minutes' walk away. Horse-riding, windsurfing, scuba diving, deep-sea fishing and many other activities are available nearby. Ten-pin bowling and a large cinema complex (films in English) at Algarve Shopping
