Wow what a stunning house in a stunning location.
About the Owner
My husband and I bought No 5 Stifanici almost 10 years ago now and we are so happy we did. Istria is one of the most picturesque and friendly places you could wish to visit and the village of Stifanici offers an insight into traditional Croatian living.
We chose a quiet traditional village so we could grow to be part of the community. Our neighbours have seen our children grow and always take the time to pop and see us.
We have renovated the house combining both modern facilities and the new luxury bathrooms we added in 2010 have just added to the beauty of No 5.
We have lived in India for the last 3 years and now in the US but we always make a point of visiting the house each year, often spending 4-5 weeks there in the summer; we just love it and have made it a home from home!
Guestbook comments from the owner
When we arrived the house was immaculate. Try as we might we couldn't find a single speck of dust – perfect! The house in our opinion was really tastefully furnished – we loved your style and yes we did feel very much at home thanks. The fact that the garden is walled in was great as there was no escape route for our kids, beautiful pool and garden, well kept. Lucy Hazel
We were very pleased with the house and thought it was very well equipped especially for children. We made good use of the high chair, bed guard and travel cot. The weather was great and we remembered to water the hanging baskets so they still look lovely.
We had a fantastic time on holiday in Croatia. We thought your holiday home was great, beautifully furnished and well equipped. The location was superb for visiting places. We will have so many beautiful memories.

Great location, lovely house
We had a wonderful week at this holiday house. As a family of 4 including two children aged 9 & 7 there was plenty to do in the area. A car is a must but the roads are not too busy. There is an Aquapark which is nearby that was a great day out - we would recommend getting there for when it opens to avoid long queues for the various attractions. There's plenty to do to suit all ages. Also a day trip to Venice from Porec is a must - a wonderful day enjoyed by us all. The ferry crossing is approx 3 hours. It's a long day out but well worth it.
The house is well equipped and Debbie the owner was always very helpful with our queries and prompt to reply to emails. We would recommend the property, but like another guest mentioned, it would be worth taking some insect repellent in the summer months!
Wow what a stunning house in a stunning location.
Fabulous well appointed house. Great views of the sea that you will never tire of. We stayed for 10 days with our two children 10 and 12. It was perfect for our needs. The owner was extremely helpful with all our queries, and provided great directions for the 30 min trip from Pula airport. We hired a car, you couldn't be without one, the village is central to all the local highlights. The house was like a home from home. Great holiday memories made here. Would visit again and again.
Rural villa in Istria
We enjoyed our stay in the villa. It is about 10 - 15 minutes drive from Porec. It has a beautiful relaxing garden and pool and nice front garden too. We enjoyed living away from the bustle of Porec and noise of other tourists. Instead you hear the scream of swallows and farm noises. We barbequed and ate outside often. However we were bitten a lot by insects in early July, so I do recommend bringing insect repellent and cream for bites in the summer!
The house has 8 beds. Two double beds and 4 single beds. If you are a tall person (over 1.80 m), the four single beds are too short to stretch out and we recommend the double beds. Two bedrooms in the loft ( up two flights of stairs) are very hot in the summer, but there are a lot of fans available to help cool down in the evening. There is no TV, just a TV screen to watch DVDs. This was a bit of an issue for us as we wanted to watch Eurocup football. We resorted to a local pizzeria in Svetic Lourec (5 minutes drive away), which has excellent food, friendly staff and tends to have sport on in the evening. Internet worked fine for 2 teenagers and 3 adults!
The garden was very well looked after, but the house was not so clean on arrival with quite a few cobwebs on walls in sittingroom and bedrooms, although kitchen and bathrooms were clean. Most things worked fine, like dishwasher, washing machine and oven. Instructions for air conditioning units were difficult to find, so we never used them. Our front door handle fell off twice and requires maintenance with correct tools. We were confused about the instructions for hot water in upstairs bathroom. We experienced water heating with orange light on, not off.
We highly recommend visiting the Euphrasian basilica in Porec, a real gem of a church from the 5th and 6th century with amazing mosaics. Pula and Rovinj are also great to visit and the seaside, of course. But remember to buy some bathing shoes as the coast is rocky.
Debbie was a good hostess, replying to emails promptly and giving good answers to my questions.
A lovely Holiday
We collected our keys from the tourist office in Porec, this was very easy and efficient. It also allowed us the opportunity to stock up on all essentials from the local supermarkets.
We arrived at the house, unloaded and headed straight for the pool and garden. The house is lovely, tastefully decorated yet homely. The garden is beautifully kept and the pool a great size for splashing around and games.
The location of the house is excellent. From the village there is easy access to lots of different places. We enjoyed trips to Porec, Pula Amphitheatre, Motovun, Rovinj, Lim Fjord and a coastal drive near Opatua. We even drove to Venice for the day (for those who are less crazy, a ferry service is available in Porec).
The roads were great and quiet. Eating out was relatively inexpensive. Our family had a great time together, a lovely holiday in a lovely house.
