About Debbie Grieve

My husband and I bought No 5 Stifanici almost 10 years ago now and we are so happy we did. Istria is one of the most picturesque and friendly places you could wish to visit and the village of Stifanici offers an insight into traditional Croatian living.

We chose a quiet traditional village so we could grow to be part of the community. Our neighbours have seen our children grow and always take the time to pop and see us.

We have renovated the house combining both modern facilities and the new luxury bathrooms we added in 2010 have just added to the beauty of No 5.

We have lived in India for the last 3 years and now in the US but we always make a point of visiting the house each year, often spending 4-5 weeks there in the summer; we just love it and have made it a home from home!

Debbie Grieve purchased this house in 2006

Guestbook comments from the owner

When we arrived the house was immaculate. Try as we might we couldn't find a single speck of dust – perfect! The house in our opinion was really tastefully furnished – we loved your style and yes we did feel very much at home thanks. The fact that the garden is walled in was great as there was no escape route for our kids, beautiful pool and garden, well kept. Lucy Hazel

We were very pleased with the house and thought it was very well equipped especially for children. We made good use of the high chair, bed guard and travel cot. The weather was great and we remembered to water the hanging baskets so they still look lovely.

We had a fantastic time on holiday in Croatia. We thought your holiday home was great, beautifully furnished and well equipped. The location was superb for visiting places. We will have so many beautiful memories.

Lovely clean villa

  • 4 of 5

Villa is lovely, spacious and clean. Great outdoor area with the poor, it feels very private and quiet. Very remote so you definitely need to drive even to get milk. Two top rooms get very hot but thankfully there are some air con units. Debbie and her team were very quick to get back to us with any queries and really looked after us during our stay.

Characterful house, in lovely hamelt in wonderful area

  • 4 of 5

Lovely 10 day trip to Istria in August - people are so friendly, but mosquitoes less so.Sleepy hamlet but close enough to Porec for day trips. Lots to see and do in the areas and nice little restaurant up the hill. It has great views, service is fantastic, food is decent. Debbie provided all the info required and responded quickly to enquiries. Great location for a very chilled time.

Really lovely place

  • 4 of 5

I have stayed at No5 Stifanici end of July/beginning of August 2017 with my family, really lovely place. We did not spend so much time in the villa as there was so much to do locally :-) Any time we had any questions Debbie was really quick to respond, pleasure to deal with. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that the pool is quite small (but kids loved it) and there were lots of wasps in the garden and I was bitten by one of them (quite aggressive little things and not true that they will leave you alone if you don't touch them, as I got stung whilst sunbathing!). Overall great place :-)

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to share your review Natasa. We are thrilled you were able to enjoy all that the area has to offer. Wasps can be a pest from time to time, we have found that the burners sold locally can help keep them at bay. We will look at keeping a couple to hand at the house in future, just in case.......! Thanks again!

Lovely holiday house

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely week staying in this holiday house. Debbie was incredibly helpful on the lead up to our holiday and resolved an issue we had with the wifi immediately. Very efficient. The house served us well - as family of 5 we had plenty space and the pool/garden area was perfect for us to relax and have fun during the heat of the day. Late afternoons/evenings were spent exploring the area. The house is perfectly located. The top of the house does get very hot in the summer months but thankfully there were air con units and fans to cool us down. A fabulous home - we will be back!

Great location, lovely house

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful week at this holiday house. As a family of 4 including two children aged 9 & 7 there was plenty to do in the area. A car is a must but the roads are not too busy. There is an Aquapark which is nearby that was a great day out - we would recommend getting there for when it opens to avoid long queues for the various attractions. There's plenty to do to suit all ages. Also a day trip to Venice from Porec is a must - a wonderful day enjoyed by us all. The ferry crossing is approx 3 hours. It's a long day out but well worth it.

The house is well equipped and Debbie the owner was always very helpful with our queries and prompt to reply to emails. We would recommend the property, but like another guest mentioned, it would be worth taking some insect repellent in the summer months!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We are thrilled you have a lovely holiday and were able to enjoy the house and all the area offers and beyond...... You are quite right, insect repellent is definitely an item to pack (or purchase there) the same as you would for other locations too. Best wishes and thanks again!

Wow what a stunning house in a stunning location.

Fabulous well appointed house. Great views of the sea that you will never tire of. We stayed for 10 days with our two children 10 and 12. It was perfect for our needs. The owner was extremely helpful with all our queries, and provided great directions for the 30 min trip from Pula airport. We hired a car, you couldn't be without one, the village is central to all the local highlights. The house was like a home from home. Great holiday memories made here. Would visit again and again.
