Our recently built duplex apartment, right in the heart of Carteret, is the height of luxury. It has 2 en-suite bedrooms, underfloor heating, 3 balconies and electric shutters on all large windows. With it's porthole style windows and wooden-decked balconies the apartment has been designed with the feel of a transatlantic passenger liner, and has been equipped with the highest quality, modern furnishings. And don't forget the sea view! Across the road is a wonderful boulangerie where you can buy baguettes and your morning croissaints only minutes after coming out of the oven. Next door is an epicerie with an Aladdin's cave full of quality French produce. Top class restaurants, such as La Marine, are also right on your doorstep. The clean sandy beach is only 5 minutes walk away with plenty of space for everyone. A weekly market takes place just 100m away. Then you have the 1930s tourist train, marina and trips to Jersey. Just park the car and forget it for the week!

Excellent apartment

We stayed at this excellent apartment during the first week of August 2014. The apartment was spotless on arrival and the owners couldn't have been more helpful (including helping us carry our luggage from car to apartment). Very spacious, with everything we could have wanted or needed supplied. Carteret is a fabulous village/town and the apartment is at the centre of things (restaurants on your doorstep and a 5 minutes walk to the beach). We did wonder if this would mean it was noisy at night but this wasn't a problem at all. Similarly, we were a little concerned about parking but there is lots of free parking within 50 meters or so and we always found a convenient space. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to both the apartment and Carteret.

The Cherbourg Peninsular is an area often overlooked by those looking for a holiday in France. This is a shame as it has many miles of unspoilt beaches along it's coast with the sea warmed by the Gulf Stream. You will find the roads in the area quiet, parking abundant and free. Carteret is perfectly positioned as it is only 30 minutes drive from the ferry port, yet close to many Normandy attractions. The town is relaxed and safe, with enough shops and restaurants to keep everybody happy without being too commercial. With it's own beach, ferry port for Jersey and tourist train, Carteret is your absolutely ideal holiday spot.

The clean sandy beach is only five minutes walk away with plenty of space for everyone. If you you want a coffee or a snack, the restaurant La Potiniere, with it's lovely sun terrace, is right on the sand. Each year Carteret is granted the 'European Blue Flag' for the quality of its beaches and its sailing harbour.


Cherbourg ferry port is only 20 miles away.

Caen ferry port is 90 minutes away.


Portbail is only 5 miles away.

Barneville is only 1 mile away.

Saint Sauveur is only 7 miles away.

Saint Mere Eglise is only 20 miles away.

you will love the position of the apartment, being able to walk across the street for your morning croissants, or stroll to one of the outstanding restaurants. To the front of the apartment is a lovely promenade to stroll along, or you can watch the tide come in from the South-facing balconies. The main balcony is sunny all day long, but it is only 5 minutes walk to the beach. Inside the apartment you have everything you need. Both bedrooms are en-suite and, as the apartment is a duplex, the apartment has a spacious feel about it. All bed linen and furniture is of the highest quality with plenty of towels provided for each guest. With our password secure internet connection you can keep in contact with the outside world if you wish.

  • Notes on accommodation: The apartment has underfloor heating and is suitable all year round. It has been furnished to the highest quality so that your stay will be completely relaxing. The kitchen is fitted with Bosch appliances, the "Chef De Cuisine" in your group will find everything he needs in here. You can be assured of having a wonderful holiday in our apartment called carteret Marina. This starts off when you arrive and are greeted with a complimentary bottle of a classic French wine plus some locally made treats. We also provided a secure password protected WiFi internet hub, this is free to use so don't forget to bring your laptop. Outside: The apartment has 3 balconies in total. From the lounge double doors lead onto a massive south facing balcony that spans the entire width of the apartment. this balcony catches the sun for most of the day and you will find plenty of tables and chairs to dine alfresco. The master bedroom has it's own private south facing balcony with a table and chairs, you will love eating your morning croissant here watching the tide come in. At the rear of the apartment there is a balcony overlooking the main Carteret street. This balcony catches the early evening sun, so why not take a cup of coffee out here and watch the world go by. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Plenty of good quality towels are supplied for each guest and all bedlinen is provided. The apartment will be cleaned to a very high standard and made ready for your arrival. There is a £30 cleaning fee for this service.
