House in Golf Village, Parque da Floresta (Santo Antonio Villas, Golf & Spa) Budens, Salema. Algarve - Wonderful Views. Short Drive To Local Beaches -Surfing, Bird Watching, Hiking All Year Round

Ideally located to explore the beautiful Western Algarve and the Costa Vicentina National Park, our golf village house with roof terrace and balconies is located in an elevated position at the heart of the resort, with stunning views of the ocean, golf course and surrounding countryside. The resort is 15 kms west of the historic town of Lagos and 70 mins from Faro Airport. Sagres and the rugged West Coast where you can surf, bird watch, mountain bike and hike are very close by.

You are able to use the on site beautiful 18 hole golf course and all guests receive a 40% discount on green fees. There is also a driving range, a PGA Academy and a short game practice area, as well as a Pro Shop and the Spike Bar, for refreshments, including dining options.

On site there is also 4 floodlit tennis courts which can be booked via the 24 hour reception area.

There is an onsite bowling green and the Bowls Club welcomes guests of all abilities.

Guests will receive wristbands which allow free use of the main resort swimming pool, and children's pool, which is a stone's throw from the house. Adjacent is the childrens' playground and during the summer there is Funclub Santo Antonio for 3 to 12 year olds. During summer school holidays the Santo Antonio Sports Academy can be booked for children of 4 and upwards.

Next to the pool area is the Spa which houses a heated indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and a gymnasium and a programme of classes such as Zumba (small charge). At the relaxing spa you can book a variety of facial and body treatments, as well as massages, reflexology, aromatherapy, manicures and pedicures etc. It is a good idea to book in advance and we can provide full details of prices and booking details to you before you go! For the youngsters mini manicures are available and there is an on site hair salon too.

Our aim is to kit the house out like a home from home, with, for instance, a well equipped kitchen and comfortable furnishings. The house has a letting licence required by the Portuguese government in order to maintain the highest standards. The terraces are sunny from almost dawn to dusk, and well equipped with new furniture. There is a free wifi internet connection in the house for the use of our guests for added convenience and a good range of DVDs, games and books, and a Nintendo Wii and access to UK TV.

In winter months there are panel heaters in all bedrooms,and the lounge as well as a log burning fire with a free supply of logs for extra cosy evenings.

We keep a guest book full of details of places to visit, including our favourite beaches and restaurants, where you can eat freshly caught fish and local produce. Should you wish to book restaurants before you leave, or you would like advice on where to go for a special occasion, we would be more than happy to help!

We purchased the house in Summer 2013 and have enjoyed making the house a home for ourselves, our family and our guests. We have been regular visitors to Parque da Floresta since 2008, spending holidays exploring the beautiful area.

We love to walk and cycle, and are happy to tell you about our favourite routes and our secret beaches. We like the fact that you can access many of our discoveries without stepping into the car. In fact you can go to the gym, swim, dine, play golf and tennis without using the car.

All you could ask from a holiday home

We have just returned from such a truly relaxing stay at this lovely house that I'm reluctant to leave a review as I would like the house to be available when we want to go back! We've stayed many times on PdF in both detached villas and townhouses and this one was just right for us and our 2 teenage boys.

Julia and Jeremy Gilbert made us feel completely at home from the moment we arrived to see a personalised welcome pack! And as not all their personal belongings are packed away out of reach, we felt like visitors to a family home rather than holiday makers in a barren rental property.

The owners have tried to think of everything - clear instructions about how everything works (e.g little notice on the cupboard door housing the washing machine with the programme numbers for the quick washes), well resourced holiday kitchen, first aid kit, wonderful information pack covering everything from restaurants to detailed walks. Books, DVDs, Wii, Wifi, MP3 dock, TV, all as described We did need to contact the owners with one small query and they responded by return.

Just a couple of minutes walk from the spa and golf facilities this townhouse is on the end of a short terrace overlooking a beautiful area of communal grounds and full of natural light - but not too hot. Everything was clean and well decorated, with a good supply of towels. The bedrooms and bathrooms are a good size, the lounge is comfortable, dining area ample, balcony a perfect spot for breakfast or a leisurely read, and the roof terrace great for sunbathing or evening drinks.

Admittedly the property is quite high on the site and catches the northwest wind, but this provides natural air conditioning and welcome relief from the summer heat.

We love the area - not as busy as the eastern Algarve, less developed and slightly cooler - lots to do and see, easy drives to coast, market towns and the mountains, plenty of fantastic restaurants and wide range of sporting activities.

Thank you both - we WILL be back !

Home from Home

From our many visits over the years to PDF/Santo Antonio this house rates as our best rental ever! The house is a real home from home & is fantastically equipped and furnished inside and out. The owners have thought of everything & is the perfect property for all ages and interests.

We loved the loungers & sofas on the top terrace with its 360 degree views to the coast & surrounding countryside.

The house is in the perfect location for exploring the Western Algarve and the beaches of the west coast are a must do. If you want to relax, the beautiful pools & spa are less than a minutes walk away & my 9 year old daughter particularly loved having a mini manicure & pedicure in the spa!

We will definitely be booking again for next year!

Perfect for a Wonderful Holiday

The review title says it all really. We have just returned from a wonderful 2 weeks stay on PDF in this very well appointed town house. We have stayed on PDF many times over the last few years with varying degrees of success with rented property, so it is was an absolute pleasure to arrive at this wonderful house which was exactly as advertised. Perfect is not an easy word to use as not everything is always that good but in this case perfect is the only words that fit. It ticks every box extremely well, facilities, furnishings, equipment, balconies, sun terraces, great outdoor furniture etc etc. Near to the golf course, less than a minute to the pool area, easy accessible by car, what else does anyone need to ask for, so perfect is the only way to describe everything.

This is very obviously a family home, not an out and out rental property which truly shows through and a pleasure to stay in. The owners Julia & Jeremy have been absolutely fantastic, very helpful and very interested in making sure we enjoyed their house as much as they obviously do, well done and thank you.

Highly recommended and we will be back, in fact we have just re-booked for next year.

Our Best In The Area

Everything about P4294 / G13 is first class, the owners have gone out of their way to make sure the house has all you need for a perfect holiday, we could not list one item of complaint with the condition of the house so this review may appear a little short but that is how we feel, we were a party of four who have travelled a lot and this was our

fifth visit to PDF and our first time in this house, we will be back.

We have visited the area at various times of year and have enjoyed the cool breezes when the sun is very hot, the beautiful spring when the flowers are amazing, and gloriously warm autumn and winter days. Come and enjoy for yourself! We have books on local walks. If you contact us we can guide you towards online guides to local bird watching, and can recommend companies that will take you out dolphin watching, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and coasteering, things that we and our family have enjoyed. We can recommend cliff and beach walks and our favourite local restaurants and cafes. The property is located in a very unspoiled corner of Portugal, where there is so much to explore. If you would also like to play golf, bowls, tennis or laze around the pool, this is the perfect destination.

We can advise on a whole range of activities such as stand up paddle boarding , coasteering or swimming with dolphins , as we have arranged various trips ourselves so if you would like an Algarve Adventure let us know and we will do our best to help!


The nearest beach is in the beautiful village of Salema, just five minutes drive on the South Coast. You can hire sunbeds and parasols, and take out a pedalo. Along from Salema are beautiful unspolilt coves with sandy beaches such as Figueira, Zavial, Ingrina, Boco do Rio,and Cabanhas Velhas. There are beaches like these all the way to Cape St Vincent. Within easy drive are the wilder beaches of the west coast such as Cordoama, Amado, Bordeira, Castelejo where you can park free of charge.


Faro International Airport is just over 1 hours drive. We consider hiring a car is essential to give you the freedom to explore this part of Portugal. Please contact us for our recommendation of companies to hire cars from.

If you do not wish to have a car, transport can be arranged from the airport and six seater taxis are readily available in the area. We can put you in touch with local taxi companies. There is also a bus service between Budens, Salema, Sagres and Lagos.


The nearest villages is Budens and is about a 3 minute drive, or 20 minute walk. Budens has a comprehensive Intermarche supermarket with fuel facilities, an ATM, fresh fish and meat counter, and a bakery. There is a good restaurant too in Budens. All facilities, including the Golf Course and Bowls Club, are within easy walking distance with the exception of the main entrance reception and tennis courts which are about a 1 minute drive. A 24 hour ATM machine is also available at reception.

Details of all local facilities are covered in the guest book and the owners are willing to advise and assist to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Lagos, is the nearest large town and has an abundance of interest for visitors. The town has three large supermarkets, numerous banks, shops, restaurants, bars and nightlife. From the marina and quayside many boating and sailing activities are available, including visits to the grottos and daily dolphin watching. Lagos is steeped in history, the old slave market is now used for exhibitions of local artists. The church and museum nearby illustrates many centuries of influence from before Roman times and well worth a visit for the whole family.

Sagres is well worth a visit , with Cape St Vincent being the most south westerly point in Europe. There are so many beautiful sandy beaches on both the south coast and west coast, many accessed along dirt tracks, and they are wild and beautiful. There are many surfing beaches, where surf boards can be hired, and lessons arranged such as Praia do Amado on the west coast. Others such as Praia do Zavial, Praia do Ingrina, Cabanhas Velhas have beach restaurants.

Travel a little further and discover the mountainous area of Monchique, or the beautiful town of Silves.

In the spring we would highly recommend walking the coastal paths, where there is such an abundance of wild flowers. We have walked the path between Burgau and Salema, and have walked other coastal paths too. We have books in the house detailing local walks, and there are binoculars to borrow too.

Mountain biking can be undertaken from the house and there are some marked routes( Ecovia do Litoral) Bike Hire can be arranged too.

The more adventurous can go coasteering ( jumping off rocks and swimming the coastline) or stand up paddle boarding ((SUP).

Bird watching is very popular in the area and there is an annual birdwatching festival in Sagres in October.

A 50% non refundable deposit is required at time of booking and the balance is required 45 days prior to the arrival date. In the unfortunate event of cancellation, pro-rata refunds can only be entertained if the property is re-rented for the whole or part of the period. A £300 damage deposit is required at the time of the balance payment. This will remain un-cashed and returned 7 days after departure, subject to any damage caused.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is flexible. Often the cheaper flights to Faro are midweek. We also use Lisbon airport (about a 3 hour easy drive) where weekend flights can be cheaper. Checkout to be by 10am but may be able to be flexible on this too. Please ask us.

Notes on prices:
Although we have priced the rental in Sterling, we are happy to accept direct bank transfer in Euros, at the prevailing exchange rate.

Should you wish to have a 7th person on a Zbed we can arrange this at an extra cost of £30 per day, plus additional local charge for access to the pool area for the 7th person.

From the Owner

We take our own holidays in the house and we have tried to equip it as a home from home with little extras like a Nespresso coffee machine & an electric juicer for squeezing the locally grown oranges. We have upgraded the property substantially since we purchased it, with new furniture and furnishings and completely refurbished bathrooms. We aim to continually improve the property to make it a comfortable but up to date property for you to stay in. We also have a large secure storage area if you are bringing your own sports equipment such as surf boards, golf clubs, and bikes . We have recently updated many of the furnishings and hope you will feel at home here too. The two bathrooms have been renewed in 2015 and each have new walk-in rainfall showers, as well as a bath in the en suite. We have recently had shutters fitted to the bedroom doors and windows, and have installed ceiling fans too, in each bedroom. The house is also has car parking spaces just to either side so there is no lugging of suitcases and bags of shopping. There is even a shopping trolley if you fancy a stroll to the local supermarket in Budens. The large pool, children's pool and playground and the Spa with gym are just a moments walk away. The Spike Bar and restaurant are a couple of minutes walk through the attractive Golf Village.

  • All three bedrooms have electric panel heaters and the two bathrooms both have heated towel rails. The lounge on the first floor has a wood burning stove and the dining area a further panel heater for cooler evenings. In the Summer with good ventilation, high ceilings and tiled floors,air-conditioning is not necessary,but ceiling fans are provided. The house is family friendly & there are many activities in the resort for children during the school holiday periods.The main resort pool, children's pool and playground are less than a minute's walk away from the house. If you have children under the age of 8 please contact me to discuss the suitability of the house for younger children. Please note the ages of children on the enquiry form. The kitchen is well equipped for those who like to cook, and there are several fantastic markets in Lagos.We have a shopping trolley available to borrow should you wish to walk to the Intermarche supermarket at Budens, which takes about fifteen minutes! Outside: The south facing balcony area off the lounge is well provided with a dining table and six chairs,and a new Weber BBQ. The balcony has a view towards the Spa and pool area and you can enjoy wonderful sea and country views. A full staircase (not a spiral) leads up to the roof terrace which has four luxury loungers, coffee table & chairs. There is lighting and a power socket too. The roof terrace has a 360 degree view and overlooks the landscaped gardens and the central pool/spa and gym which is a short walk away and views of the surrounding countryside,golf course and the ocean in the distance. The large and well equipped pool and children's pool is for the free use of Golf Village House guests only, and has a snack bar, and changing facilities. There are new sun loungers and umbrellas. Car parking is directly outside the house and it is easy to shopping etc, without having to carry bags any distance. Utility Room: Drying rack and pegs Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included. For two week lettings we provide a free towel/linen change after the first week. For lettings under two weeks, an additional linen change can be arranged easily at extra cost should you wish. Extra cleaning can be arranged. Other: Large storage area for bikes, surfboards, golf equipment etc is available by prior arrangement. We have seven bikes available to borrow by prior arrangement but please contact us for full details of sizes etc.
