The chalet is located just outside Stadl village in an elevated position, near to Kreischberg, Turracher Höhe and Obertauern ski resorts and the pretty town of Murau. There are far reaching views of the stunning valley and surrounding mountains. The chalet has 3 bedrooms, Sauna, 2 bathrooms, boot room, open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area with dual access to terrace on both sides, large balcony first floor, car parking alongside chalet for 2 cars.

Klagenfurt airport is 1.25 hours drive, Salzburg airport 1.5 hours drive, served by many airlines. Shops, restaurants and numerous activities for everyone are located in the village and nearby.

Why Caroline Minshell chose Sanktdl an der Mur

Our chalet sits in the picturesque village of Stadl an der Mur, Styria. The area offers something for everyone from adventure to peace and tranquility.

Situated in the River Mur valley, Stadl is 10 minutes from the nearby Kreischberg ski resort and for variety, other ski resorts are within 30 minutes with Obertauern, a major resort, 45 minutes away.

In the summer, Stadl is ideal for cycling and walking with a cycle path running along the picturesque River Mur. A handy narrow gauge railway runs along the river should the walk or cycle ride be too much! Stadl has tennis courts, a volley ball court and an outdoor swimming lake. At Kreischberg, the valley is transformed into an award winning golf course for the summer months.

What makes this chalet unique

The property is located in a peaceful location with views across to Stadl and the Mur valley. The chalet offers comfortable living with its own sauna for those tired limbs at the end of a day's skiing, cycling or walking.

It is just a 20 Minute walk to the village for shops and restaurants. The bakery operates a delivery service if required.

Having arrived after a 17.5 hrs. drive to Stadl - I must say we are still in a good mood, thanks to the great holidays we have enjoyed in your fantastic chalet. Everything was perfect. All 7 of us enjoyed every minute. All our expectations have been exceeded. The chalet is tailormade for us. A bedroom for three kids, 2 bedrooms for the adults, 2 bathrooms (what a luxury in the morning), a sauna for aprés skiing, a fire place for men, a great working kitchen, a dish washer, and last but not least a heater for the ski boots - this is all well thought through and we had the best holidays ever

Notes on accommodation: We are more than happy to discuss accommodation at our chalet, the locality and activities and places of interest to visit. There is much information on this in the chalet. Unfortunately, we speak only English. A 1 euro per day tourist tax is charged per person aged 14 years and over in Austria. This is extra to rental prices advertised. Please note, the accommodation is non smoking. Pets are not accommodated. Outside: Landscaped garden area. Decked Terraces with lighting on 2 sides of chalet, table and reclining cushioned chairs, accessed from chalet on both sides. Large first floor contemporary glass balcony accessed from 2 bedrooms with cushioned loungers and table. Car parking for 2 cars on hard standing in front of the chalet. Utility Room: The downstairs bathroom contains a washing machine and condenser dryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen included. Cleaning included and conducted at end of rental week on changeover day, can be arranged more frequently on request at an extra charge. Other: Entrance hall with fitted wardrobe and hooks for coats and shoes. Boot room accessed from outside for ski storage, with boot warmer for 10 pairs of boots. Sauna. Lit terrace with gas bar-b-q and terrace/dining furniture. Balcony with loungers.

Geweldig huis!

Wij waren met 2 gezinnen (4 volwassenen en 4 kinderen) en hebben een heerlijke week gehad. Het huis was super. Ligging heel goed, 10 minuten rijden naar skigebied Kreischberg. Mooi skigebied! Kids konden buiten lekker spelen/sleeën in de sneeuw. Keuken was prima en van alle gemakken voorzien. Koffiezetapparaat, waterkoker, magnetron, oven, grote koelkast. Van de oven hebben we veel gebruik gemaakt... elke dag verse broodjes bij het ontbijt, of heerlijk pizza. Sauna was top! We hadden een hele koude week (tussen -8 en -20 graden), dus heerlijk opwarmen in de sauna 's avonds. Superfijn dat we ieder onze eigen badkamer hadden en hebben zelfs nog een wasje gedraait met handdoeken, daarna in de droger en weer klaar en fris! Er is Wi-fi en de schoenenwarmers zijn ook heel fijn. Ik denk dat we hier nog wel een keer terug zouden komen.

Lovely hosue for a perfect ski holiday

The chalet was very nice and clean, equipped with all the things you need. Perfect loaction, just a casual 10 minutes driving to get to Kreischberg.

If we went on a ski holiday there again we would choose this chalet again!

1.25 hour drive from Klagenfurt airport, 1.5 hours from Salzburg city and airport, about 2-3 hours from Vienna and 3.5 hours from Munich. North East Italy and Venice 2-3 hours drive, Hungary and Slovenia 2-5 hours. By road from Calais, about 11 hours. Klagenfurt airport well served by many flights from the UK/Europe - Ryanair, Tui fly, Austrian. Salzburg airport Austrian, BA, Lufthansa, Flybe, Thomson fly. Car hire is available and trains into Stadl.


10 mins by car to St Lorenzen for Kreischberg ski/activity area and golf.

20 mins by car to village of Turrach and Turracher Höhe ski and walking area. 15 mins by car to Bergmann restaurant in Turrach village

15 mins by car to the main town Murau where there are various bars and restaurants.

15-20 min walk to restaurants and cafe in Stadl , less than 5 mins in the car. 20 mins by car - Pizzeria da Silvano, St Lorenzen.

Trains and ski bus from village to ski resorts and golf course.

There are numerous activities in the village within 5-10 minutes walking distance - white water rafting, swimming (open air pool), fishing, valley and mountain hiking, cycling trails along the river valley (one of the longest routes in Austria and so picturesque), tennis, volleyball, football, steam train in the summer and many children's activities including an extensive playground and skate ramp.

Golf, horse riding, canoeing, skiing, tobogganing and ice skating are only 10-15 minutes away.

Scenic national parks within 30 minutes for walking and hiking. Ice caves (largest in the World), Hitlers Eagles Nest, lakes, castles ('Where Eagles Dare' was filmed at a castle nearby) and many more activities and sights to see all within an hours drive. Salzburg and Graz are lovely cities to visit for the day. Many lakes with beaches and multiple activities within an hour such as Lake Worthersee.

There are shops and restaurants in Stadl and nearby.

Shops - supermarket, baker, butcher, florist, toiletries and first aid, hairdresser, post office, banks with ATM, petrol station. Larger supermarkets are located in Murau and Tamsweg.

Eating out - Murtalerhof guest house in Stadl do great breakfasts, lunch and evening meals and you can walk there (20 minutes by foot). Bowling alley too.

Land cafe in Stadl for lunch and drinks (20 minute walk).

Pizzeria da Silvano, St Lorenzen (15 mins by car up mountain), great views and superb and reasonably priced Italian food.

Berg Mann, Turrach village, 15 mins by car. Good regional specialties and fish dishes.

The micro-brewery in St Lorenzen and golf club have a good food selection and many beers.

There are guest houses serving food and drinks in most villages.

The towns of Murau and Tamsweg have more restaurants.

Trains - from Klagenfurt and Salzburg into Stadl (2.45 to 4 hours journey time).

A €100 deposit (non-refundable) for the rental period will be charged at booking and confirmed in writing. A bank transfer or personal cheque will be required for payments. Final balance payment will be required 6 weeks prior to the rental period with an additional deposit of 200 euros against loss/breakage, which will be refunded within 2 weeks at the end of your holiday and any loss/damage/extra cleaning deducted from this balance.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday, although this is flexible. Arrival after 4pm and departure by 10am.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
