Apartment in Dahouet, Nr. Pleneuf Val Andre - Within Short Walk of Unspoilt Beaches

Refurbished for summer 2015 with new bathroom, decoration and beds.

The apartment is in the beautiful small fishing port of Dahouet which also has a marina and a busy sailing community. Within a short walk or drive there are lovely secluded unspoilt beaches and the lovely seaside town of Val Andre. The beautiful Thalassotherapy Spa in Val Andre, with its range of treatments and sea water pool. Excellent location for coastal and inland walks. Nearby is an excellent golf course, sailing and many other water sports. The area is famous for excellent seafood and delicious fish which can be bought on the Quay, fresh from the boats. There are several cafes, bars, shops and a traditional bakery within a couple of minutes walk and the apartment is located above one of the best creperies you will come across in Brittany. The creperie has been used as the location for a number of french films.

Hiding in Brittany

For a perfect getaway from it all, this property is just the thing ... a small, compact loft apartment with its own private courtyard, it's the perfect place to relax... Situated on the pier, above a restaurant - you awake each morning to the sounds of the fishing boats coming and going and the fishermen selling their wares! The apartment is clean and comfortable, and the landlord Florent is a gem, who extends a gracious welcome and is always on standby if needed.

There are a couple of nice restaurants on the pier and the bigger resort of Val André is just a walk/bus ride away ... the free shuttle in July and August makes it all very easy .. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Authenticly French

Dahouet is just lovely - an proper French fishing village, selling the catch straight off the boats and smelling of salty sea dogs! We spent our time mostly eating, drinking and walking – the beaches are fabulous – and all were a pleasure! The accommodation was simple but very clean and comfortable, and the owner was friendly and on hand for local advice as he runs (what became) our favorite bar called The Zef. A fantastic base for a holiday whether you want to explore the wider area or just stay put and re-charge as we did. We will definitely go back!

Loved Dahouet but sadly not this flat

Great location, photographs on the site are accurate but sadly when we arrived much of the furniture was broken and the overall maintenance and cleanliness was not good. We have shared a full review with the owner but wouldn't feel comfortable recommending it in its current state and its certainly not good value for money. I imagine with lick of paint, better quality furniture and a good clean it may become recommendable.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the feedback. It is a real shame that you did not say anything on arrival or during the stay so that the owner could have done something about it. He is downstairs running the creperie and would have been horrified that you felt like that.

Les pieds dans le port... ou presque !

Bel appartement duplex confortable et bien équipé sur le quai de ce sympathique et animé port de Dahouët. Nos légères appréhensions quant aux éventuels inconvénients sonores ou olfactifs qu'aurait pu causer la présence d'un restaurant au rez de chaussée se sont avérées sans fondement ! Ce peut être au contraire tout à fait agréable de n'avoir qu'à faire quelques pas pour déguster une crêpe !

Ce lieu permet de rayonner dans cette magnifique partie des Côtes d'Armor, près du cap Fréhel !

Coast/Beach:

Sea is literally ten seconds walk from the apartment. Five minute walk to beach and many other beaches within a few minutes drive.

Travel:

Dinard airport is 45 minutes drive, flights from Nottingham (East Midlands), Stanstead and Bristol with Ryanair. Fly from Southampton to Rennes (1 hour drive) with flybe.

By Ferry St Malo is 50 minutes, Caen 2 hours and Cherbourg 2.5 hours. Calais is 5 hour drive.

Further Details:

The flat is owned by the patron of the creperie below so you will get looked after extremely well. The creperie is a well known local attraction and serves excellent food, especially the mussels and the galettes. There are many beaches to discover within a short drive as well as secluded coves. There are many local activities such as horse riding, quad biking, paintball, high ropes assault course. In the summer there are many festivals in the local area that are always fun and great value.

  • Notes on accommodation: The bedroom is upstairs from the living area and has a view to the rear. The view to the front looks out over the port with lovely views of the boats coming and going. When the fishing boats come in you can buy fish directly. There is a fresh fish stall a couple of times per week on the quay just down from the apartment. Parking is available all along the quay and is freely available, just remember to avoid the fishing nets and make sure the handbrake is on. Electric radiators provide heat during the cooler Spring weather. Outside: Small terrace area with seating, table and barbecue. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen is provided. No towels are provided. The price includes cleaning and linen.
