About Nick Hickin

We are a professional couple working in the Automotive Industry and Property Services Industry.

Nick Hickin purchased this villa in 2005

Why Nick Hickin chose Turkey

We first came to Dalyan on a recommendation of friends, we stayed at the Alla Turka Hotel and very quickly fell in love with the area, the people and Turkish culture. On our third visit we spent two weeks searching for a property to purchase and after extensive research and hours in a dusty jeep we found the plot which ticked all the boxes.

What makes this villa unique

It took a few years for us to get the villa looking how we envisaged (you can't rush nature) but slowly it came together. The location proved to be exactly what we wanted, peaceful with beautiful senery yet easy access to the town and all the factilites on offer. We have had wonderful family hoildays here and through offering the villa for rent we hope other familys will also benifit from the joys of visiting dalyan.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“Back home now and have had such a wonderful time, loved the villa, the pool, the area and the Turkish people. Kaunos Travel arranged airport transfers and three boat excursions. To celebrate our twin daughters 21st birthday, the 12 Island Cruise was a fantastic day. We had a great day on a special snorkelling boat trip too. We enjoyed a lovely meal in Dalyan at the White Lotus where the owner provided a beautiful cake and gave the girls a special party with a table festooned with roses, balloons, music and fireworks. Although rather embarrassed by such a display, it was a really kind gesture and made their 21st a very memorable one. The local restaurant, Nar Danesi, a short walk from the villa, was excellent, with delicious traditional food and pomegranate juice. All in all a fantastic holiday.”

Would not hesitate to go back. Great get away from it all location with easy access to Dalyan

  • 4 of 5

Fantastic Villa with a wonderful deep swimming pool. Lovely plot slightly away from town with spacious 3 bedroom accommodation and 2 outdoor covered areas and separate pool bar. Definitely recommended for a teenage family. The bikes were a brilliant way to ride into the town about 10 mins away. Walking into town on a regular basis too far for us but Taxis and Buses very reliable. Only gripe worth mentioning is don't rely on the TV if you are planning to watch anything specific e.g. The Olympics

Villa D'Louca

  • 4 of 5

The Villa was as good as the photos showed just a bit off the beaten track the six of us had plenty of room. For us it was just a bit to far to walk into town when it was hot but local taxi's where good. If you want a peaceful holiday book this villa

Just a couple of things a Tea Pot would be good, more mugs if you use the dishwasher, not sure if there was any confusion but the pool was not clean when we arrived but this was soon sorted

All in all great place to just relax and we recommend the Kingfisher Restaurant if you like peace and quite and fresh food

Wonderful secluded villa

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderfully quiet and secluded villa in the countryside just near Dalyan with a great swimming pool. The villa is bigger than it appears in the picture as it extends back a long way from the front where the pool is located. It's very well equipped and the large verandah round two sides of the villa makes a great area for eating or just relaxing. Having the bikes available is a real added bonus. The only suggestion we'd make is to clarify the driving directions to the villa, especially for those who, like us, arrive after dark.

Wonderful pool but put off by a few issues

  • 2 of 5

The villa is a good size and the pool kept exceptionally clean, it’s the right temperature and big! The air con unit in the lounge doesn’t work but this doesn’t really matter. We had difficulty locating the key and finding the villa as we had hired a car at the airport and arrived in the dark. It’s apparently best to get picked up by Kaunos tours from the airport and then get your hire car delivered to the villa.

I will now discuss the main issue we had with the villa and its surrounding area. People in the field directly next to the villa used a shotgun one evening and some shots peppered through the trees into the villa grounds. We called Kaunos Tours who said it was someone shooting big birds and said they would get the police. The police never arrived despite two calls to Kaunos Tours. The gunshots happened again the following evening so we stayed inside thereafter. Kaunos Tours never followed up our call. We just wanted some reassurance we were safe which we never got.

Owner's Response: For guests that are arriving at night I have always recommened that a transfer be taken with our managing agents Kaunos Villas, this is a personal transfer, the driver has the keys to the house and can show you round, the basics like light switches etc. Car hire can be arranged with Kaunos (they are the local Europcar agents) delivered to the villa where the paperwork can be completed, granted it is a little more expense then airport rental, however Kaunos do incorporate the transfer cost into the car hire which reduces the overall expense. This year nearly all the guests decided to make their way from the airport (most in the dark) and all sucessfully completed the key collection, and villa location and entry. Having checked with Kaunos, the manager Salih was not informed of an issue with an A/C unit not functioning correctly but was asked for help with the remote control functions. The villa's location is rural, for us and all our guests the biggest attraction, quite and unspoilt, however this brings other distractions, cows mooing, chickens clucking, frogs croaking, early morning call from the cockerel and the occasional sound of farmers using shot guns to kill vermin and in this case to shoot and scare off Merops (bee eating birds). Under no circumstances would there have been an issue of safety, Kaunos having been informed spoke with the gendarmeria, they checked out the situation, I can only assume that once they had concluded nothing untoward was happening, dismissed any necessity to give reassurances, to either Kaunos or guests. There is an old quote by John Lydgate which I am sure most will have heard "You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all the people all of the time" We endeavour to make the villa exactly what we would want if we arrived as guests ourselves, with many five star reviews I think we are achieving our goal.

Exceptional Villa

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic villa, clean and well equipped. Beautiful location, very quiet. Quite a distance to walk into Dalyan, with no pavements on the main road. Taxis were mainly used at a cost of 15 - 20 TRL per trip. It was our second trip to Dalyan and we enjoyed it just as much as our first visit. Excellent restaurants and once again we took some trips with Ali "Sultan of Dalyan" on his boat - well worth the money with an excellent lunch provided.

Nick Hicklin, the owner, was very helpful in allowing us to arrive early at the villa as our airport arrival was at 3.05 am. Kaunos Tours were used for airport transfers which I can highly recommend.

An excellent holiday all round!

Have just got back from a two week stay at the above villa. We had a hire car for the duration of our trip as we like to get out and about. The villa is in a quiet location just outside of Daylan town. We used the bikes and found a couple of routes into town. The villa is well equipped and the large pool is so warm. The water cooler is a great bonus and when replacement bottles are ordered arrive very quick 5TL for each 19L bottle - bargain. Kaunos who manage the villa are so helpful and efficient - if something needs sorting they will do it straight away (very impressed). The only bad thing I could possible say: we were so sad to leave this beautiful villa. Thanks Nick for an amazing holiday.
