I live in England with my husband and we are now enjoying retirement. It's lovely to be able to spend time with our family and grandchildren and to spend time in Portugal which we love.

The Silver coast is very special to us. Each time we visit we discover something new, from glorious beaches to historic palaces, wine routes, islands renowned for wildlife, dinosaur museums, fantastic fish restaurants, beautiful Buddha gardens. The list is long and varied.

Great base for fantastic holiday - lovely townhouse with all you need

Townhouse exactly as described, short walk to old town, special atmosphere there, including lovely restaurants. Short walk in opposite direction to supermarket, or just across the road is a 24hr petrol station if you forget to buy your ice-creams. The amenities and situation of the property is described well. Driving distance from Lisbon - about 75km / about an hour.

The property was clean and well-maintained. The owner provides great personalised customer service and we will be recommending this property to our friends. There are so many nearby activities, attractions and restaurants with so much to do it's probably unfair to pick out any as there isn't time to visit all, however Buddha Eden is nearby and well worth a visit. The nearby lagoon has the most wonderful beach... you really are spoiled for choice for truly delightful places to enjoy. This property is ideal and we have no hesitation in giving it 5 stars.

The property was even better than we had hoped.

This was our first visit to Portugal and we were totally blown away by the lovely town of Obidos and the surrounding countryside. Every coastal area in the region was outstanding. The house was very well maintained and spotlessly kept. Every appliance we could have wanted was installed and in good condition and all amenities were close at hand. A short walk to an excellent supermarket and an equally short walk in to Obidos. We were fortunate in staying whilst the annual Medieval Festival was taking place and this was a true highlight. I would not hesitate to recommend a stay in Obidos and definitely to stay in this lovely property. The owners could not have been more friendly and helpful.

A clean, well maintained property

The property was clean, well maintained and spacious with every facility you would need for a relaxed and comfortable stay. Having two bathrooms provides an extra luxury, one with a bath and one with a shower, both with a toilet and wash basin. The photographs provided show the property exactly as it is. The sun is at the front of the house in the morning and there is a small tiled patio at the front of the house where breakfast can be eaten in the morning sunshine. As the sun moves around during the day, it is then directly on the balcony at the rear of the house where visitors can enjoy the warmth of the early evening sunshine. The house is situated a few minutes walk from the centre of Obidos, where you can find cafes, restaurants, shops and bars around the cobbled paths within the castle walls. It is very pretty, particularly in the summertime. There is a regular bus service from the town to other places and the house is a walkable distance to the local supermarket. We have been visiting Obidos for eight years, sometimes twice a year, staying at a property owned by friends. This year the property was sold and this was the first time we had stayed elsewhere. We were extremely pleased with our choice and would recommend this property for a small family (two adults, two children) or two couples sharing.

Very nice house

Very nice house, clean and tidy and with everything that you need. Excellent position for walking into the beautiful little village of Obidos, close to supermarket and easy access to roads making it a good base for visiting places of interest. Buddha Eden is well worth a visit as was Alcobaca Monastery.

We enjoyed our stay although weather was a bit changeable.

Beautiful place

Beautiful place !The house is very well planned,has everything you need.New bathroom,lovely kitchen next to the balcony where you can have your morning coffe with a nice view.Everything clean and tidy.

The house has a great location,close to supermarket,the lovely medeival town Obidos where you cqn stroll for hours in little shops and have something to eat in one of the historical buildings.

Easy acsess to highways.Good location for exploring other parts of Portugal.

I can highly recommend this place for your holiday.

Having searched the Silver Coast for a property, we fell in love with Obidos straight away. We chose the house for its proximity to the old town, with its cobbled streets, medieval walls and myriad of tiny streets to explore. There are so many events going on in Obidos throughout the year. Great fun can be had at the Medieval festival or the amazing Chocolate festival. Cultural events take place often. A special treat for us was the operatic performances played out in the castle grounds on a warm summer evening. However gastronomic treats can be experienced at any time with a wonderful selection of restaurants and bars. There are many beautiful beaches within just a few miles. Each has its own character from world renowned surfing beaches to traditional seasides with shallow calm water

Special interest holidays:

Obidos is noted for its cultural events which take place throughout the year.

These include music ( recitals, opera, modern and classical ), exhibitions of art, a wonderful medieval spectacle for two weeks in July and amazing chocolate festival, usually in the spring. Galleries and museums are open throughout the year. See Obidos websites for more information.

Coast/Beach:

Plenty of large sandy beaches within an easy drive including Baleal (12km), Foz de Arelho (8km), D'El Rey (10km), Peniche (20km) and Obidos Lagoon (8km) where you wil find a variety of watersports and activities available, including surfing and fishing. Boat trips to Berlengha Island daily from Peniche. Scuba diving is available from Peniche and Obidos Lagoon. There are water parks at Peniche and Nazare together with more local swimming pools and lidos.

Travel:

Lisbon Airport 1 hour/70km by car, train or bus. Flight providers: BMIBaby, Monarch, Fly Thomson, TAP, BA, Easyjet. Porto airport 2.5 hours/150km by car.

Distances:

The historic walls are a three-minute walk from the property. The walls are fully circumnavigable (1.5km) and offer stunning views from the ramparts. Within the walls, the Moorish old town offers many archaeological treats including churches, aquaducts and spring fountains.

Further Details:

A large selection of bars and restaurants within the town offering a variety of menus from traditional meals through to more expensive a-la-carte offerings.

Many festivals are held throughout the year such as operatic and drama productions, an international chocolate festival and a medieval festival.

The supermarket is a 5-minute walk and there are cashpoints/banks within town. Adjacent is the municipal swimming pool and sports centre.

Changeover Day:

Prices shown for the property are per week in UK Pounds for two persons. A small charge of £25 a week will be charged for extra persons to cover laundry and cleaning costs.

Our townhouse is very conveniently situated just a few minutes walk from the main entrance to the walled town of Obidos with its many restaurants and bars. A good sized supermarket is just a short walk in the other direction opposite a sports centre and new swimming pool. Obidos is an easy drive from Lisbon airport, taking around 50 minutes on the motorway. Parking is no problem either at the front or back of the house. Alternatively we have a gated drive. There is also a bus service which runs daily to and from Lisbon.
