Our Villa is in Capres, near Fortuna, Map Ref. N38.22370 W1.15083 - situated at the top of a valley and surrounded on three sides by beautiful mountains with spectacular sweeping views down the mountains. At night you can sit and enjoy the twinkling lights in the distance and the marvellous display of the stars above, made more stunning by the lack of street lighting. Choose sun or shade in the Spanish courtyard, pagoda, patio, sun terrace up top, or the poolside. Renovated Cave with 5 rooms (3 bedrooms, large lounge with TV, dining room and Shower/WC). There are plenty of sheets, blankets and duvet covers in the cave cupboards. The Cave Connects to new House with 2 (en suite) bedrooms, large lounge with TV and open plan kitchen. Extra WC/shower room in courtyard. Hair dryers and bath towels provided. Rooftop patio with canopied table ideal place to sit with a glass of wine and admire your own peaceful and private mountain view. Games room will be available next season. Private pool with shower & pagoda and BBQ for shady lunch. 4000 sq.m. terraced land. Carport, ample secure parking. Mountain walks. Golf 30 mins.Beaches 1 hour. Popular Spa Baths in Fortuna with remedial waters and treatments. Good area for hang gliding. Free tennis in Fortuna. Murcia 30 mins drive. Midway between Alicante and Murcia (closes at night|) airports 50 mins drive. Choice of dining areas both inside and out/sun or shade. Relax in the sun, gazing out over a panoramic view, with swallows swooping down to the pool for a drink (then teaching their babies to do the same). In the evening they entertain with an evening chorus.

Within the house, the bedrooms are both en suite with mountain views. The lounge boasts a log fire, TV, and a well equipped kitchen at one end including a fridge freezer, oven, grill, toaster and various other electrical gadgets and useful utensils. There is plenty of crockery and cutlery. There is a small library of a variety of books. If you finish reading your own book, just exchange it for one on the dresser, That way everyone gets a wider choice. In the unlikely event of you needing a fire in the evening, there is always a pile of logs. Otherwise, there is a central heating system in the house. The Cave keeps the same temperature year round. So in the summer it is cooler and in the winter, more cosy. A Games Room will be available next season.

Pets not permitted. Wi-fi is now available for an extra fee of £10 per week - payable separately. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS A MINIMUM PERIOD OF ONE WEEK FOR BOOKING PURPOSES. MINIMUM CHARGE £550 FOR UP TO 4 GUESTS. EACH EXTRA GUEST IS 300 PER WEEK. BOOKINGS START AND FINISH ON A SATURDAY.

Tranquility reigns

In this stressful world we inhabit, there are times when just getting away from it all is the only thing required and that what this place does for us. The road there is just funky and I've uploaded a YouTube video of the journey from the main road, around the mountainside, to the villa. We're not allowed to put HTML tags on this page, so go to You Tube and search for The Road to Casa Cueva del Lute and you'll see it.

The villa sits in an isolated spot, with just three or four other houses in view. In fact, there are neighbours to the back of the house (up the hill slightly), but on the three occasions we've been here, we've never heard or seen them, even though we know they have been at home. It's so peaceful, tranquil and quiet that it suits us down to the ground. The pool is the high-spot for us. Looking over to the town of Fortuna, I can close my eyes and still feel myself bobbing up and down in the waters, resting on a float with the sun beating down on me. While we're on the subject of outside, there's a newly built gazebo, which is great for keeping out of the sun, as well as three areas you could choose to sit: by the pool, in the courtyard or on the rooftop terrace. Inside the main house, there is a small lounge and kitchen and for me, this is the only thing I would say to be aware of. Although the house can take up to 9 people, the kitchen area can take two at most. It doesn't bother us in the slightest, but be aware that it's not the biggest kitchen in the world. That said, it has all the facilities you need - oven, hob, microwave, cooking utensils etc. The main house also has two good sized bedrooms, both with en-suite. There is also another patio off one of the bedrooms. The cave is fabulous for kids particularly, with three more rooms, a large dining room and further lounge area + small loo. There is another bathroom across the courtyard, which the people in the cave have easy access to, with a loo and a shower. All in all, there's everything you could want here in a relaxing holiday, with relatively quick access to the local towns and cities, although a car is essential.

This is the kind of holiday we all need from time to time and we will certainly be booking again!!

The pool has recently been emptied, undergone complete renovation and now sparkles in the sun. The view ...... like you, we thought that the town in the distance was Fortuna - in fact we are advised it is Molina de Segura - considerably further away than Fortuna. We stayed here for a week and enjoyed the peaceful, tranquil location. The house was the best equipped holiday rental we have ever stayed in. We never stayed in the cave part of the property as there was only 3 of us but would definately rent the property again if away with more people.

If we ever stay in this region of Spain again, we would definately rent this property again as is superb value for money.

Love it, love it, love it.

Casa Cueva del Lute. A perfect location for a quiet relaxing holiday.

The New House has air con (very necessary in June/July/August) in all rooms while the cave house is cool at all times. Great for chilling/a game of cards/listening to music in the evenings.

Quiet mountain location, just a short drive to Fortuna for food shopping and weekly market.

Plenty of local restaurants (very reasonably priced) - would recommend La Puerta Grande and Las Vinas(in Fortuna) and the Pit Stop(adjoining a garage on the road north to Pinoso.

Pool side barbeque - great for when you decide to "eat in".

Views from the gazebo are stunning - sunrise, sunset and all hours in between!

House-keepers Gill and Vince (and not forgetting Luna) just a phone call away and have a host of information regarding the area.

This was our second stay here - we'd recommend it to anyone needing a bit of "chill time".

As stated in the title - we just love it! We will be back.

The Beaute of Lute

We recently returned from our third visit to Casa Cueva del Lute. A mere 45 minutes easy drive from either Murcia or Alicante Airport the restored cave and (modern) house is located in a stunning location on the edge of the Sierra de la Pila (ideal for walking and mountain biking). The nearest market town of Fortuna is typically Spanish, friendly and has a number of amenities as well as supermarkets, banks, cafe bars and a barber (used twice, still have ears despite language barrier!) Whilst the property provides everything for a completely relaxing and peaceful stay, fantastic scenery and places to visit are on the doorstep (the vineyards surrounding Jumilla, the beach at Guardamar, through the mountains to Blanca) - make the effort you won't be disappointed. On our last visit we were lucky enough to witness some local fiestas - the one in Capres village was particulalry good if a little late starting at 2300 hours!

The property has been accurately listed by the owners who also communicate regulalry with clients providing comprehensive directions to the property and upto date information on local facilities. If you tire of home cooking and BBQ's there are a number of excellent local restaurants in Fortuna. The Puerte Grande and La Palmarie are particularly good quality and value. The local housekeeper and her partner make themselves known to clients, provide discreet assistance if required and ensure the pool is kept in perfect condition. I once stayed for an additional week on my own with my son and felt entirely safe in the property with additonal peace of mind in that they were only a telephone call away.

In summary, this property offers exactly what it says on the tin - and more.

Cave Holiday!

Just returned from our third stay at this amazing 'cave' in Spain and quickly booked our forth stay.

The peace, tranquility and amazing scenery are just 3 reasons we love it here. The accommodation is well presented and the kids (of all ages from 13 to 48) loved the pool.

We could easily just stayed 'home' all the time but decided to venture out occasionally ! The water park and zoo in Murcia was a great hit especially as a second day was offered for free. Nueva Condomina was popular and only a short drive away. We also tried out the new tram into Murcia and sampled tapas and enjoyed a visit to the cathedral (go early and not on a Monday as it closes at 3pm and isn't open at all on Monday)

You will need a car if this is your chosen holiday location as the nearest supermarket is a short car trip away. Be prepared for the roads being twisty and looking like they will disappear. Just hold your breath and enjoy the ride!Husband wishes every time that he had brought his mountain bike as the hills are just fantastic.

Not sure what else to say. All our friends think we are made when we say we are going to Spain to stay in a cave. The fact that we continue to go back and the kids still want to come speaks volumes. This provides some timeout from the rat race so enjoy x

Better than a home from home

Casa Cueva del Lute is an ideal place for a "get away from it all" holiday, the photos don't do justice to the views from the house! Although out in the country it is only a short drive to a number of towns and villages with shops, bars and typical Spanish streets to stroll around.

The property was very well equipped with everything a family or group of friends would need for a holiday and the house keeper, Gill, was very friendly and informative on the surrounding area. There was also plenty of information in the house of places to visit. One very good recommendation was to use the tram to travel in to Murcia (the nearest city) rather than drive! The cost of the tram fare will probably undercut the price of parking in the city centre and save getting hot under the collar trying to find the way. Just park at the Nuevo Condomino shopping centre and walk over the bridge to the last stop on the tram line.

Out teenager had a great time in the pool, we would recommend this as a great place for a family to unwind.

Location

From the Owner

We had no thought of buying a property in Spain, but friends had bought close by. Originally, It was just a piece of land on three levels and a derelict cave with five rooms. BUT it was the view which sold it to us. After having made an offer which was accepted, I came away thinking "What the heck had we let ourselves in for" as we know little of Spanish language/legals. We have spent five years bringing the cave into this century -two twin bedrooms and one single, lounge, dining room and toilet/shower/handbasin. We then built a 2 bed en-suite house connecting to the cave, a Spanish courtyard, swimming pool, car park, car port and lastly a drive from the bottom level up to the cave/house level. All this on borrowed money. Now we let it to help pay the interest and to share its peace and tranquility with others.

Coast/Beach:

Several Beaches/Coast approx 50 mins drive to Mar Menor.

Travel:

Alicante airport approx 50 mins drive SW to property. Murcia Airport same distance SE - closes at night. A car is essential as the villa lies at the head of a valley in the mountains with 10 min drive to town. Calais approx 1200 miles (2/3 day drive approx). Ferry to Santander leaves 10 hours driving (use our discounted Brittany Ferry membership). New bypass skirts the nearby town of Fortuna, making the drive up to the villa much easier with lovely mountain views on the way.

Distances:

Local town of Fortuna 7.5km (10 min drive approx). Murcia City 33km (30min drive appx) or take tram from Condonium). Spa Baths Fortuna 7km. Spa Baths, Monte Aguado (amazing statue on top of a mountain) 15km approx. New Condominium (shopping centre) on the way to Murcia (A7) 15km approx. See coffee table in house lounge for other places worth visiting. Jumilla - wine grown area (1hr drive approx).

Further Details:

There is a weekly market on Saturdays in the centre of Fortuna. Banks open 8am - 2pm Mon - Fri. ATM's available. Pharmacy: one is situated close to church in the centre of Fortuna. Supermarkets: several around town. Directions given to Supermarket next to the church (see House book). Internet cafe in Fortuna with economical telephone/email facilities. Mobile phone problems? - 'Expert' (electrical) shop in the high street of Fortuna on RHS. Many little shops in Fortuna. Until you walk round, you will not see them. Tourist Board near main traffic lights in Fortuna (by the church). Free tennis on courts in Fortuna. Fortuna Banos (therapeutic baths) on the outskirts of Fortuna - well signposted and well worth a visit (Euros 10 per person per day). It has a cafe where you can obtain light lunches and drinks. It's like walking into a hot bath.

The villa is secluded but not remote - just a ten minute drive down the Fortuna. wifi is available for a small additional fee of £10 per week. We have time to read, relax in the sun (and shade) and dip in the pool to cool off. We like to sit at night and gaze at the stars which, because there is no street lighting, feel as if they are just hanging above you. The lights of Los Molinos twinkle in the distance too. During the day the swallows swoop down to the pool for a quick drink. At night they give us a chorus which is magic. Housekeeper is on call in the event of problem/advice. She will call in soon after your arrival to ensure you know where everything is.
