Less than 30 minutes from Castellon Airport the El Pinar hillside is the beautiful pine-covered backdrop to the village of Las Fuentes and the town of Alcossebre on Spain’s Costa del Azahar (Orange Blossom Coast). Our fully equipped and beautifully furnished apartment is set on the south facing hillside of El Pinar with spectacular views over the Mediterranean sea, Las Fuentes marina, beaches and coastline of the town of Alcossebre. This penthouse apartment is the top floor of private Villa 'Castillo de Azahar' and has been recently prepared offering an idyllic peaceful location just a few minutes drive away from the beaches, restaurants and town. The apartment is fully furnished with indoor and outdoor terrace dining areas, a large private sun terrace and a Private Swimming Pool with sun bed terrace looking right out to sea- all with amazing views of the coastline. The area’s best restaurant 'The El Pinar' is only a short walk away.

Lynda and I retired to Spain 11 years ago after selling our business. Our 2 sons 'flew the nest' some years ago so we felt it was our turn to relax and enjoy some better weather. My love of golf influenced the area we settled in and Lynda's love of painting was influenced by the vivid light and views in this area of Eastern Spain. We enjoyed the area so much that we purchased a villa on the hills overlooking the sea and village of Las Fuentes where we now live and have a penthouse apartment for renting (Owners Direct S7602).

Why ROSS SINCLAIR chose Alcalà de Xivert

Initially we bought an apartment on Panoramica Golf course where we lived for a while and then grew to love the area of Las Fuentes near Alcossebre where we bought a villa overlooking the sea with spectacular views We modernised the villa on the El Pinar hillside and finished the penthouse apartment which we have rented out for the last 9 years.

What makes this apartment unique

The El Pinar penthouse is superbly furnished to a high standard and all visitors are amazed by the spectacular views from the property which looks south over the village and sea. The property is on it's own with one other villa 200 meters away so it is peaceful and yet with access by road to the village and town only 5 minutes away with many restaurants, bars and wonderful beaches. There are 2 golf courses within 45 minutes of the area and now a 6 rink outdoor bowls club. Castellon airport newly opened in September 2015 and is only be 20 minutes away from Alcossebre.

Finally arrived home late last night and we would like to thank you both very much for renting us your beautiful penthouse. The view was well worth the climb and the apartment was extremely comfortable and a real home from home.

We had a lovely restful holiday in Alcossebre doing very little (which was the plan!), plenty of good food, wine and sun.

Notes on accommodation: Ample parking is available on the roadside outside the villa and the penthouse apartment is accessed by its own staircase leading up from the main gate entrance. Outside: Large garden terrace with extending table and 6 chairs, 4 sunbeds/loungers with parasols and BBQ. There is a newly built private swimming pool with sun beds and looking right out to sea. The pool is directly in front of the villa. The villa and terrace is full of character and the beautiful gardens surrounding the villa on the hillside have grown naturally with cacti, rosemary, small pines and palms. The property is accessed along a drive which ends ½ km along from the apartment so there is no through traffic, adding to the tranquility. The hillside is home to wild boar and pine martens amongst a host of other wildlife. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Clean towels and linen are provided for 4 guests weekly. Beach towels are not provided.

Superb accomodation - perfect for a relaxing getaway.

Wonderful apartment with Ross and Linda being the perfect hosts, allowing complete privacy so as you really do feel like the apartment is your own. Highlight for us was the balcony with stunning view out to sea. When not out sampling the fabulous restaurants in the area, we ate all of our meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) on the balcony, a perfect place to unwind with a bottle of wine.

A lovely apartment in an idyllic position.

Wherever you are in the apartment, whether dining, lounging on the terrace, chilling in the pool or even lying in bed, the wonderful view is constant. The location affords perfect peace but is within easy reach of the facilities and shops in Las Fuentes and Alcossebre. Our 11 year old granddaughter was never out of the pool. We had a great time! Ross and Lynda, the owners, were on hand to help if needed, although the equipment and facilities in the apartment meant that we were perfectly self contained and comfortable. Brilliant!

Fantastic stay in Alcossebre

What an amazing place, we spent a week here with our two young daughters. The views are breathtaking from the bedroom, lounge and veranda (what a place to BBQ).

The girls loved the pool, providing Mum and Dad time to unwind with a book and glass or two.

Ross and Linda were amazing and made us all feel welcome.

Very well equipped kitchen and great beds for a comfortable night's sleep.

Recommend leaving the car behind and trying the walk to the beach; sensible shoes would be worthwhile, but we managed it in sandals with some care. Local communal pool is worth a visit.

Look forward to booking a return.

Tranquil paradise

We loved this apartment mainly for its views and tranquility, it is stunning. It is in the hills about 3km inland from las Fuentes and is accessible to the town and coast line in 5 mins or so by car, you need a car! The apartment is well furnished and equipped and Ross and Linda provided a very helpful welcome pack. The apartment is part of the larger villa which is Ross and Linda's home but whilst they are around to provide help and guidance they are rarely seen, guests and hosts respecting each other's privacy. A delightful place. Thank you.

El Pinar is in an ideal geographical location for lovers of the sea, with breathtaking views of the many local ‘blue flag’ beaches from the apartment, with the nearest just 5 minutes drive away in Las Fuentes and Alcossebre, where you can enjoy over 300 days of sun each year with an average temperature of 26 degrees in summer and 18 degrees in winter. Otherwise explore the coastline for more remote beaches or head to other nearby popular beaches of Peniscola, Vinaros and Benacassim.


NEW FROM SEPTEMBER 2015 - RYANAIR FLY TO NEW AIRPORT AT CASTELLON. This airport is only 20 minutes from Alcossebre with flights to Stansted and Bristol. Reus airport is approximately 90 minutes north via the AP7 Motorway. Barcelona airport (which has excellent international airline connections) is around 2 1/2 hours drive. Car hire is essential. Valencia is 90 minutes south.


Las Fuentes 5 minutes. Alcossebre 8 minutes. Oropesa 15 minutes. Benacassim 25 minutes. Peniscola 25 minutes. Benicarlo/Vinaros 30 minutes. Castellon 35 minutes. Morella - 80 minutes. Valencia 1hr 30 minutes. Barcelona 2 1/2hrs. Reus 1hr 30minutes. Universal Theme Park (Salou) 1hr 30minutes.

Further Details:

A very short distance from the apartment is 'El Pinar' restaurant, a superb restaurant and cuisine with wonderful views, considered the best in the area. In the town Las Fuentes and Alcossebre have many fine restaurants - fabulous food at the 'Antonios, on the beach is the Michelin recommended 'Can Roig'.

Vinaros is the local fishing port town, bringing in fresh fish every day with King Prawns a local speciality. There is a fantastic market in next to the seafront in Vinaros where you can purchase fresh fish, fruit and vegetables and is colourful with a wonderful atmosphere. Restaurants and bars are all along the seafront with excellent shopping in the town centre and plenty of large supermarkets on the road to the golf course.

Benicarlo (next to Vinaros) is also a seafaring town with the Nautical Resort providing a great variety of watersports –including canoeing, sailing, snorkling, diving and water skiing.

Morella is the medieval capital city of the region El Ports and is an interesting ancient walled town high in the mountains (approx 80 mins drive).

Ulldecona reservoir is an area of great natural beauty, ideal for hill walking and bird watching along with cave paintings at Polvori Cave.

Barcelona city is 2 hours by car (Valencia is 1 1/4 hours)or both are easily accessible by train from Benicarlo. Both are fantastic cities that must be visited during your stay.

A few kilometers along the coast is Peniscola old Medieval town with walls and fortifications surrounding the white washed houses and Peniscola Castle that housed the controversial 15th century Pope Benedict XIII. Peniscola has 7 kilometres of beautiful beaches with a lively atmosphere and many night spots. It also hosts the Classical Music Season and International Comedy Festival each year.

Columbretes Islands can be visited by a sea trip. These volcanic islands are a protected nature reserve but organised visits are available.
