Apartment in Tavira, Portugal - Perfect 'Old Town' Location, In The Heart Of Tavira

Superb 2 bedroom, 2nd and top floor apartment with front and rear balconies. Situated in Tavira Old Town it is only a 10 minute walk to the riverside heart of Tavira. To add to all this there is a wonderful large roof terrace (30 metres squared) with sea and old town views. The apartment sleeps 4/5 people, fully fitted modern kitchen, large spacious 25 metre squared lounge with air conditioning and free wifi.

Lovely apartment, good location

We're just back after a lovely few days in Tavira. The apartment was spotless and had everything you need. Maxine met us cheerfully even though we were very late arriving and told us her top tips of places to go. The town of Tavira is really lovely, with lots of lovely shops and restaurants and the ferry to the beach is really easy and fun. The local people are all really friendly and speak excellent English, which puts us to shame. The local supermarkets are only a short walk away, although you do have to cross a roundabout to get to the Pingu Doce, which isn't great when you're on foot. The tourist travel card on the train is really good value and you can get the train very easily. All in all - great, and wish we could have stayed longer.

Great holiday

We really enjoyed our stay at the apartment. It was well equipped, quiet and ideal location for Tavira town center.

We would definitely like to stay again on our next visit.

We would recommend the apartment to any future holidaymakers.

Excellently appointed holiday rental

The property was excellent , light and extremely spacious with various balconies to eith enjoy the sun or enjoy some shade , the added bonus of a roof top terrace was great to dun bathe and on an evening to dine , enjoy the views and to watch the sun set .

Exceptionally clean and well equipped , would certainly return to this property

Fabulous holiday

Recently returned from my first trip to Portugal. I looked at many ap

artments and have to say how great this one was.

I booked very last minute and was so impressed by how easy the owner made this for me.

Location was perfect. Very quiet area but close enough to walk into town to enjoy all that Tavira offers.

The apartment was very spacious and well equipped with everything you needed, spotlessly clean and the roof terrace was an added bonus.

I was met at the airport by a very friendly lady who also took me back the following week.

I would really recommend staying here.

I didn't hire a car but getting round on the local buses was no problem. Thank you Cara.

Perfect holiday!

Given this was our first trip to Tavira we looked at many apartments online to find one the right size and one in a good location to the centre of the town. The main reason for choosing this apartment was due to the excellent facilities listed and the private roof terrace and it did not disappoint.

Communication with the owner was excellent both during the booking process and then nearer to our departure date. We were sent maps, lists of good restaurants and information of local interest (boat trips, beaches etc).

Our arrival went like clockwork and we were met at the apartment by someone who gave us keys and showed us around the apartment. This lady also mentioned some local areas of interest and left contact details if we had any problems/queries during our stay.

The apartment was very quiet, clean and well equipped which was a bonus to us as we decided to invite friends to stay also (which was only a relatively small extra charge). We saw and heard no other people during the 10 days we spent in this apartment block which made relaxing and eating on the roof terrace more pleasant and we did not have the worry of making too much noise also!

The distance to town was an approximate 10-15 minute walk through quiet residential areas (where friendly locals would pass the time of day with you).

The only negative thing to say is that there is a general lack of small grocery shops which meant we walked a distance to the local supermarkets even just for water and necessities. Also, if you like fast service in restaurants this may not suit as you can expect to wait approximately 45 mins to one hour from arrival to when your first course arrives. For us this was perfect as we hate 'fast food service' when it is obvious they want your table for the next hoard of 'eaters'.

Tavira is beautiful.....the people are friendly and the food is amazing. Having visited the Algarve for approximately 19 years now, it was refreshing to see an area which has not become a tourist trap (i.e. no football shirts, pie and mash pubs etc). It is rustic and has real charm and we fell in love with the place immediately.

We have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation and look forward to our next visit (very soon we hope!).

There are several beaches local to Tavira. If you are not driving then Ilha de Tavira is your best bet. This is on an island half a kilometre from Tavira, reached by ferry for €1 (70p) return. From the centre of town the tourist train will take you to the ferry.

If you are driving then the local beaches at Cabanas, Monta Rota, Praia Verde and Santa Luzia are all amazing and well worth a visit.


Faro Airport is 20 minutes drive away and is within easy access to Faro train station, approximately €3 (£2.10) in a taxi. There is a taxi rank and in addition private pick ups can be arranged upon request.

The apartment has easy access to the A22 and the N125, which are the main roads that connect to Faro, the West Algarve and Spain. The train station is a 10 minute walk from the apartment. The rail network provides access to Faro, the West Algarve and Spain.


Literally a 10 minute walk into Tavira centre which is a beautiful riverside waterfront with a superb selection of shops and restaurants. The walk is a pleasurable one involving a short stroll through beautiful cobbled streets, passing fantastic, traditional Portuguese architecture, Tavira Castle and the churches of Santa Maria and Santiago. There are many riverside restaurants to choose from in the evening or indeed any time of the day!

To us, Tavira can only be described as ‘Stratford in the Sun’. It is a beautiful and stunning Portuguese town that commands waterfront residence on the picturesque River Gilao. The Tavira riverside location is the heart of Tavira and holds a wonderful selection of shops and restaurants. It has been cleverly designed and considered so that the modern entwines in perfect balance with the old, so not detracting from Tavira’s beauty.

Local services/amenities - supermarkets, Tavira has a number of supermarkets, the nearest one is a 10 minute walk and the nearest local store is a 2 minute stroll.

Train Station is 1 km/ 10 minute walk.

Tavira has a bus station, tourist information office, wonderful fresh fish market, banks, post office, internet cafés and a plentiful choice of shops and restaurants.
