About the property

Peaceful location high in the mountains near Alora to suit couples only(no children)

Commanding panoramic views, Lagar Blanco’s spectacular location above the Guadalhorce Valley is second to none. The well appointed, self-catering guest apartment is situated in the south wing of the house and has full use of all the outdoor facilities. These are shared only with the owner, who will respect your privacy and will not use the pool area at the same time as you. Whilst just 45 Aminutes to the international airport of Malaga and the numerous attractions of the Costa del Sol, Lagar Blanco provides the perfect contrast to the hustle and bustle of coastal holidaymakers. This tranquil mountain retreat, built in the style of an old Spanish Hacienda, stands alone on 30 acres of land. The jewel in the crown is magnificent setting of the infinity pool. Sit under the covered patio and let your eyes feast upon the visual banquet laid before you. Time will just slip by - but who cares? Come and visit the real Spain for a peaceful holiday like no other.A car is needed but tarmac access apart from last half mile dirt track Near by supermarket shopping in Cartama Estacion with handy rail link to Malaga.

About dave pickard

Born in London but settled in Oxfordshire and a property surveyor but now retired.Lived fulltime in Spain since 2000 and no plans to return to the UK (Its just to enjoyable here!) Divorced and happy to live alone but with many local expat friends and not forgetting my cats and dogs (all rescue animals)

dave pickard purchased this apartment in 2002

Why dave pickard chose Guadalhorce (Costa del Sol)

I rented and owned apartments on the coast in the 90s ,great to start with but so noisy (all night discos nearby) and overcrowded beaches and polluted sea water I ventured inland and wow the real Spain was revealed! Only 30 miles inland was needed to achieve this transformation.I looked at many properties but nothing ticked all the boxes.I wanted amazing views,,lots of land, good access to villages for shopping, This place Lagar Blanco stood out from the rest and I snapped it up in 2002 and will probably not move from here.Over the years Ive gradually upgraded the place, infinity pool, different terraces, covered wayetc so I can seek or hide from the sun.Being high up their is good internet and mobile phone connection. Many "campo" places I first looked at were tucked away in valleys or nestled at the sides of hills so no chance of a mobile connection or internet .

What makes this apartment unique

I think The benefits are described above but to sum up the star is the infinity pool. This area in line with much of Andalucia has suffered drought conditions for a number of years. To swim and look at the burnt countryside and distant mountains is such a contrast especially as I rely only on well and bore hole for my precious water supply

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Stunning surroundings and comfortable accommodation"

"Lagar Blanco is just the right distance from the crowds, but handy if civilisation is needed ..."

"The pool just has to be seen to be believed - amazing!"

There is a varied assortment of beaches on the Costa del Sol, from the relatively uncrowded coves near Nerja, to the bustle of Malaga's beaches. The closest is about a 40 mins journey.

There are many attractions on the Costa del Sol, but do take a look around the wonders of rural Spain too!

Malaga airport is the closest being about 45 mins away.

A hire car is essential for exploring the area although airport pickup/drop offs can be arranged.

Gibraltar, Seville and Granada are approximately 2 hour's drive away.

The untouristy city of Malaga, the capital of Andalucia is well worth a visit (40 mins), as are the lakes at El Chorro (50 mins), Alora (20 mins), Estacion de Cartama (20 mins) and the historic town of Antequera (an hour).

Further Details:

The lively local villages of Estacion de Cartama and Alora both have all the facilities needed: banks, internet cafes, shops and a market. Estacion de Cartama is particularly busy on a Sunday with its large market and outdoor restaurants - a fun place to visit.
