About the Owner

We have 4 children ranging in age from 17-10 yrs. We both work and our children are at school, but we spend as much time as we can in Marseillan. We all love visiting and never tire of it, even after 10 years 😊

The house was fantastic! Very clean, tidy and very well equipped. All the little things we didn't expect, we were very impressed. It was so child friendly and also the kids bedroom was just far enough away from ours - a great layout!

Would love to stay again and would recommend it to others.

What a find! After nearly 30 years of holidays in the region we found this villa. We were so delighted with the location, cleanliness and comfort that could not be faulted - our expectations were exceeded!

We have been doing this type of holiday in France for over 30 years so we have seen and visited a lot of places. The villa is without doubt one of the best we have stayed in - in the top 3.

We were absolutely delighted with our stay in Marseillan, loved the area and could not speak highly enough of your villa and attention to detail there. It was certainly one of the best and most relaxing holidays we've had in a long time.

Enjoyable stay

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at this Villa in August 2013. We were 3 generations of a family and found the accommodation very comfortable. The garden is pleasant and really safe for young children.

The town and port area of Marseillan, which are lovely, are within a comfortable walking distance of the Villa, with a boulangerie, a must whilst in France, a gentle pre breakfast stroll away.

There is a really good beach within a 10 minute drive with all the razz-matazz of a holiday resort. Marseillan town, is though, where I would prefer to stay.

Location

From the Owner

We bought the villa in Dec 2006 and still find new things to do in the area every year. We have both always loved France and spent 2 years looking for the right place. When we came across Marseillan, we fell in love with it. It has the charm of an unspoilt fishing village coupled with beautiful beaches and fantastic weather. There is so much to see and do in the area which makes it a great location for holidays at any time of the year.

Activity and Interests

Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

Beautiful child-friendly beaches, 5 mins' drive away(5km) - 15KM of wonderful sandy beaches. The beautiful tree-lined Canal du Midi which links the Atlantic with the Mediterranean is also just down the road and has miles of flat walks along the shady tow paths. Cap d’Agde (10 mins) has beaches, water sports and a beautiful harbour.

Travel:

Budget airlines fly regularly to Montpellier, Perpignan, Carcassonne and Nimes, all within an hour’s drive; and to Marseille, Girona (Barcelona) and Toulouse which are accessible within 2 hours. From May 2008 Ryanair will be operating from Bristol to Beziers which is only 15 mins drive from the villa. Spain, Andorra and the Pyrenees are also within easy reach.

Distances:

5-10 mins' walk to Marseillan for shops, bars and wonderful restaurants. 30 mins to the north is the staggeringly beautiful Languedoc Nature Park. Beziers town is about 30 mins away with its bustling boulevard and Montpellier only 45 mins away offering excellent shopping. The ancient fortress of Carcassonne is only 1 hour's drive away and well worth a visit, as is Pezenas with its large open-air market every Saturday.

Further Details:

Marseillan is famed for its home-produced oysters and its pink flamingos and is a lively town with plenty to see and do. Shops and bars are all within walking distance as are the delights of the quayside restaurants offering fresh fish, local produce and superb Languedoc wines. The town comes alive during July & August with a variety of festivals and entertainment, including the renowned annual music festival ‘Festival de Thau’. Visit the weekly market, the international marinas and golf course at nearby Cap d'Agde and also discover the local picturesque French villages, including Pézenas and Sète. Marseillan Plage has excellent sports facilities for sailing, windsurfing, riding (on the beach off-season) or take a private boat trip on the Lagoon and Mediterranean.

Facilities

From the Owner

The villa is literally only 5mins walk from the village and the beautiful fishing port with all its fabulous cafes and restaurants, so you really don't need to go anywhere else if you don't want to. The people are friendly and they pride themselves on the charming, unspoilt nature of the village - no high-rise hotels or nightclubs here. If you're looking for a relaxing holiday in a beautiful location, look no further! In 2012, a cycle\padestrian path was completed to Marseillan plage(5k), with links to Sete(18k) and Agde(12k). There is a bike hire outlet 2 mins walk from the villa.
