This luxury 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment is located in the small, exclusive Las Lomas development of Marina del Este, discreetly tucked into the hillside overlooking the pool and Marina. The ground-floor apartment has a large private balcony with plants and patio furniture to relax and admire the stunning Mediterranean views across the bay to the mountains beyond. The well equipped kitchen has access to a small courtyard and

private rear garden with large terraces ideal for relaxing and dining alfresco. The modern, newly furnished apartment has a lounge diner with comfortable leather sofas and six person dining area with large patio doors to the balcony. All bedrooms have fitted wardrobes with good storage space. All rooms have air-conditioning and heating, window blinds and all but bedroom 3 have ceiling fans to maintain a comfortable temperature. Marina del Este nestles in a cove at the foot of the mountains and is 50 minutes east of Malaga and about 65 minutes from Granada.

Coast/Beach:

The marina is about a 10 minute walk and has several excellent restaurants and bars, art galleries and a dive centre. Adjacent to the marina is a small, sheltered shingle beach with safe swimming and some of the best diving in Southern Spain. La Herradura is about 1.5km away and has a 2km long horseshoe-shaped bay and a pleasant beach with several beach bars and restaurants.

Almunecar is the main town about 8km away with several large beaches, a water park, restaurants and many other facilities.

Travel:

Malage airport is 80km to the west with motorway to within 5km of the apartment giving a commute of around 55 minutes.

Granada airport is also about 90km but with motorway taking around an hour. However, the airport is much quieter and the drive is spectacular with the towering Sierra Nevada mountains and beautiful valleys and gorges of the Alpjurras.

Due to the quiet location, car hire is strongly recommended for easy access to shops etc and to make the most of the stunning scenery.

Distances:

Nerja is the start of the Costa del Sol and is 10 minutes drive west on the motorway or 20 minutes by the winding coast road. The beautiful mountain village of Frigiliana is 10 minutes from Nerja. The Marina and local beach are just a few hundred metres away.

The main local seaside town of Almunecar is about 8 kms and the coastal village of La Herradura about 2km. Granada and the Alhambra palace is about an hour inland with many beautiful villages nestling in the Alpjurras en route.

Further Details:

The small, exclusive marina has some beautiful boats to drool over whilst enjoying a meal or tapas at one of the several excellent restaurants. There are also several art galleries and shops. The adjoining Playa de los Berengueles is a small natural bay ideally suited to diving and snorkelling in the crystal clear waters. It has a lively beach bar where you can enjoy a meal or drink and also hire parasols and sunbeds. The local village of La Herradura stretches out along the 2km long bay with a number of seafront bars and restaurants. The village rises back uphill from the beach with a small market, a jumble of narrow streets with shops and a local supermarket.

Almunecar is a typically old Spanish seaside town, dating back to Roman times, and is overlooked by the remains of an old Moorish castle. The maze of narrow streets in the old quarter are crammed with a variety of shops, bars and restaurants which come alive at night. There is an excellent indoor market selling (cheap!) wonderful freshly caught fish and seafood and an amazing variety of exotic, locally grown fruit and vegetables - it is not surprising the area is called the Costa Tropical!

There are tropical gardens and parks to relax in, plazas with tapas bars and restaurants offering alfresco dining. The palm-lined promenade stretches several kilometres with many excellent restaurants and lively bars. There is also a large Aqua park with flumes and rides, which is open June until September.

Nerja is a 10 minute drive away and is a more developed resort, more typical of the neighbouring Costa del Sol, with sandy beaches and the beautiful Balcon de Europa promenade and pedastrianised shopping area.

The surrounding area is national park with many walking and cycle routes with pretty mountain villages dotted around the Alpajurras and slightly further afield in the Sierra Nevada.

The beautiful city of Granada is an easy drive of around an hour on the new motorway which carves its way through the spectacular scenery of the Alpajarras and Sierra Nevada mountains .The historic Alhambra palace is a 'must see' when visiting Granada

The Sierra Nevada ski resort is about a 90 minute drive and features over 80kms of pistes and 23 lifts.With skiing upto 3400m , it has a terrific snow record from early December until late April with good beginners and intermediate slopes

The resort of Solynieve successfully combines the Alpine apres ski with Spanish tapas

If you are a music lover then the area caters for all musical tastes with La Herradura hosting the Andres Segovia International classical guitar competition every November , Almunecar hosting a jazz festival in July and any number of concerts and flamenco performances throughout the year .

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: The apartment is very secure with video/key pad entry system. Air-conditioning and heating throughout, ceiling fans to most rooms and door and window shutters throughout. The apartment is suitable for children although young children should be supervised on the balcony as there is a drop to the apartment below. Outside: The pretty, private walled Medeterranean garden is accessed from the kitchen and is particularly secure for young children and is ideal for afternoon and early evening sun. It has a large terraced area with fountain, palm trees,reclining chairs and BBQ. There is a patio table with 6 chairs and large suspended parasol for alfresco dining. Sun beds are available. The small inner courtyard also accessed from the kitchen is cool and shaded with Mediterannean pot plants and an area for clothes drying. The large private front balcony is accessed from the lounge or master bedroom and has wonderful views over the pool to the Marina and the Mediterranean and mountains beyond. With delightful planting and furnished with table and 4 chairs, parasol and comfortable sun loungers, it is ideal for taking the sun from early morning to late afternoon with stunning sunrises/sunsets dependant on the season. The shared pool has sunbeds and parasols for guests and also a kiddies paddling pool. Utility Room: Storage cupboard in hall with iron, ironing board, clothes airer and vacuum cleaner. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and towels are changed once a week and the apartment is cleaned on handover. Beach and pool towels are not provided. Other: Secure key pad entry underground parking with direct access to apartment either by lift or stairs, additional street parking outside apartment. Broadband internet access.
