Apartment in Deia, Mallorca - Tranquil Mountain Village, 20 Minutes walk to the Beach

Set in the idyllic, unspoilt village of Deia. The apartment is in a quiet residential area, 5 minutes walk from the centre of Deia village, so easy access to the superb restaurants that Deia has to offer, the friendly local bar, and the individual shops. It is 35 minutes walk to the beach, or a 5 minute drive. It has been furnished and decorated to a very high standard, and has wooden beams and terracotta floors. The terrace has spectacular views of the mountains and of Deia church, there are sun loungers and a garden table and chairs. The living room is open plan with a log burning fieplace, the dining room seats 6, the master bedroom has a king size bed, there is a further twin bedroom; the kitchen is fully equipped and there is a luxury bathroom.

About the Owner

I live in London with my husband and two grown up children. We also have 2 dogs, a border terrier and a chihuahua, and a black and white cat called Marcus! I work as a photographer, and try to spend as much time in Deia as possible, usually I try to go every couple of months. When I'm in London I enjoy going to the theatre, and to concerts, and love the cinema, then in Deia, it's a totally different lifestyle, walking in the mountains, watching the beauty of the scenery, and enjoying the delicious food in some of the superb restaurants in the village.

A treasure. You are in Deia on the lovely northern part of Majorca. I hadn’t done enough research so I can only say we lucked out. Deia turned out to be the town where Robert Graves lived. It’s now home to one super deluxe hotel (Hotel La Residencia) and one regular five star hotel, Hotel Sa Pedrissa because basically this is “the” place in Majorca to stay. There are many excellent restaurants in town, charming coffee shops and one of the top rated beaches in the entire island.







The home itself was perfection. It had a marvelous balcony. We sat outside for breakfast in the morning and wine at night, pinching ourselves about our good fortune staying there and marveling at the sublime natural beauty around us. The apartment was large by our standards. It has a good sized living room, two bedrooms and an ample kitchen. Everything was built to a high standard with lovely local (Spanish) architectural flourish.







We only regret staying so briefly. We can’t wait to go

Lovely Village House

We had a wonderful stay in this spacious and comfortable house in the heart of beautiful Deia and not far from the bay of Cala Deia too. ( Now famous for its restaurant featured in The Night Manager).Karen was really helpful in the run up to our holiday and provided lots of helpful information. Deia is an ideal base for exploring the Tramuntana mountain region and has lovely restaurants. We would not hesitate to recommend the property.

Karen was amazing... Very responsive to all emails and messages. Arriving to the apartment late at night went without a hitch because of Karen's explicit directions... Outstanding!! We loved staying here and Deia is a magical place. Would love to come back again

Perfect

What a wonderful place to stay. It's even better than the photos as it has a lovely homely feel - much nicer than most holiday rentals. The view from the terrace, including the donkeys, is fabulous and Deia has everything we needed. The air con meant you got a good nights sleep and the apartment is well equipped and very comfortable. Very easy to book with owner Karen who sent all the apartment details and info on area that we needed. We had planned to get the bus to Valldemossa but were enjoying the apartment and Deia so much we didn't do it - maybe next time!

very comfortable apartment

My husband and I took my Mother (77yrs) along with us for a week holiday. The apartment is extremely comfortable and the bedrooms are spacious and air conditioned for a good night's sleep. The kitchen is well equipped so cooking at home and eating on the terrace is not a problem (terrace is very pretty with views up the hill to the English Church where Robert Graves is buried). Situated just on the outskirts of Deia but close enough to walk into the village for drinks/evening meal and also easy to walk down to Cala Deia (but a stiff walk back up the steep hill). Great restaurants in Deia for all budgets and also a really good supermarket. Easy to hop on buses to the sandy beach at Porto Soller. We hope to return in 2015 but would probably not bother with a hire car as the local buses are so reliable and distance between palma and Deia relatively short taxi ride.

Location

I fell in love with Deia when I first visited it in the 70s, and now, almost 35 years later, it has hardly changed at all! The local people are so welcoming and friendly, it is so peaceful, and in my opinion, it's beauty is second to none.

Coast/Beach:

There is a lovely walk to the beach from Deia, through the citrus orchards and olive groves, which takes about 35 minutes, or to take the car will take 5 minutes and parking is available at the beach for 6 euros a day. Cala Deia is a beautiful cove, with clear waters, a small beach bar, and a renowned rustic fish restaurant.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Palma, and from there it is a 30 minute drive or about 45 euros by taxi. It is recommended to hire a car, although not essential, as deia has a very reliable bus service

Distances:

Deia is 9km from Soller, and in the other direction, about 9 km from Valldemossa.

Further Details:

Deia has a mini supermarket/bakery, which has everything necessary for your stay. There is one bar, 2 banks, a pharmacy, several individual shops, and many superb restaurants

  • Notes on accommodation: The apartment is located in a private development of stone built houses. It is actually a small house, the ground floor is just a large entrance area, and all the living space is on the first floor. Outside: The sun terrace is completely private, not overlooked at all by neighbours, there is a shaded area at the back, and it gets the sun most of the day. There are sun loungers and a garden table and chairs . The views are magnificent, and uninterrupted. Outside the house there is a parking space for one car. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen is included apart from beach towels. There is a weekly cleaning service.
