Overview

About the property

House in Camarasa, Lleida, Spanish Pyrenees, Spain - Ideal For Families And Large Groups

Embedded in the foothills of the Pyrenees mountains, Ca la Daina is a beautiful and lovingly restored 16th house over 5 floors with beams and log fires, cosy, but also spacious, sleeping up to 14 people. Fabulous views overlooking gorges and mountains. Ideal for 2 or 3 families or groups of friends. Our home is situated in the quiet and unspoiled medieval village of Camarasa, Catalan people are very welcoming and they go out of there way to help and offer advice and there is a lovely friendly atmosphere. Take your time to stop and chat. There are two bars and a fabulous bakery which sell croissants to die for! There is a well stocked village store and supermarkets are only 10 minutes away in the small town of Balaguer. Every Saturday there is a market in the main plaza of Balaguer worth visiting for cheeses and vegetables and a coffee at Gloria’s, our favourite cafe in town... "A place to be and rejuvenate will definitely return we loved it"

About David Dixon

We live in Oxford and we and our family come out to Ca la Daina several times a year, often with lots of friends in tow.

Our children are now older and have started to come here with their friends using public transport, which is a big plus.

David Dixon purchased this house in 2007

Why David Dixon chose Noguera

We have loved to visit Spain over the years and have friends in Catalunya and in Madrid. After a while we realised we and our family could spend much more time here if we could buy a place of our own. We looked all around Catalunya (almost all of which is beautiful!) and chose Camarasa.

We couldn't believe what we found in Lleida province - lakes, mountains, ruined castles and churches, medieval villages - and none of it visited by tourists (even from the rest of Spain!).

It is just over an hour from the airports and from Barcelona. accessible by public transport (up to the last 6km) and in the middle of unspoilt dramatic scenery.

What makes this house unique

Caladaina is now our family hideaway and we love the view of the river and gorge from the terrace, swimming in the lake, mountain biking and walking in the mountains around the house, log fires in the winter and the fact we can have lots of family and friends to stay with us.

We've done quite a bit of work on the house since we bought it and it is now fully equipped for both winter and summer.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great stay here, there were two families, three generations (7 adults, 5 small children under 7 years). It's a really nice house, which is in a great small town by the Segre. The scenery around the town and off into the lakes is stunning, with plenty of outdoor activities around, swimming in the lake, pedaloes, fantastic walking around the lakes and countryside.

We are three families with teenagers who had a wonderful stay in Ca La Daina. The house is spacious and comfortable, with all the amenities one could wish for.. Part of each day/evening was spent relaxing on the roof terrace looking out at the spectacular view. The light shows from evening lightning storms were breathtaking. We loved the village - breakfasts and wonderful desserts were purchased from the bakery at the bottom of the hill, and we visited the local swimming pool on most days. Further afield, we enjoyed walking, kayaking and horse riding. All in all, one week was nowhere near enough time to spend at Ca La Daina, and We hope to return one day.

Everything about our holiday was picturesque. The house itself, the streets, the rural shops, the pool to yourselves and not forgetting the lake. A group of eleven of us went, all 18 and it was the most relaxing holiday we could have imagined. Wish we could be back there right now. Even the bad weather was breath taking. We saw the lightening strike the mountains and the whole world lit up with them. Not a bad word to say.
