Apartment in St. Mandrier sur Mer, Var, Provence - Quiet Town, 2 minute Walk to Beach

65 sq.m second floor apartment in a very well kept building. Completely refurbished interior comprising open plan kitchen/dining. Salon with TV and beautiful couch for siesta. Front balcony has sun all morning and looks onto the harbour. Listen to the tinkle of the yacht masts 25 metres away. Walk to the lovely little beach only 180 paces/2 minutes away. We have no elevator, so it's 35 steps up to the apartment. But that's your exercise for the day! St Mandrier is located on a small island peninsula tethered to the mainland by a small strip of land and one road, so it's quiet. There is a ferry every 25 minutes to Toulon which only takes 15 minutes. There are daily food markets in Toulon or La Seyne and there is very easy road access to the other well known towns and villages of the Cote d'Azur. Private parking with remote controlled barrier entrance is an added bonus. Nice is about 1hr 45mins. Cannes is about 1hr 20mins. Toulon is about 20 mins. Marseille is about 45 mins.

Wonderful Break

The apartment was in an ideal location with lovely views and easy access to the beach and marina with several good quality restaurants nearby. The apartment had all the facilities for dining in and was very comfortable. A short drive away was another lovely beach. Ideal location for exploring the sights and scenery of the South of France. Renne the local representative was extremely helpful and very nice lady. We would recommend this property.

The beach that we mention (Le Petit Plage) is used by local families and is literally out the front door, cross the road, turn left and walk for about one minute. It is a small beach but well kept and the swimming area is marked out with nets. This is also the location of the harbour offices and the sailing school. There is another very beautiful long beach at Les Sablettes, which is only five minutes away by car.


Toulon-Hyéres airport is about 30-40 mins. Marseille airport is about 1 hr. Nice airport is about 1hr 45mins. The TGV from Paris to Toulon is 3hr 30mins., A car is very handy for exploring, but we have spent several holidays here without ever using the car. Between trains and ferries it is quite easy to get around. (The Toulon-St Mandrier ferrystop is 2 minutes walk from the apartment). My mother-in-law managed on her own for five months without a car or any French . . . and she's 82!


Cassis is about 20-30 mins by car. Marseille is about 45-60 mins by car. Toulon is 15 mins. by ferry. There are many little villages and towns worth exploring, but you will need a car for this. There is a Tourist Information office in the square in St Mandrier. The island of Porquerolles is just outside the mouth of the harbour about 45min ferry ride. It's a nature reserve, no cars allowed, but you can rent bikes. Or take a ferry to Corsica for a couple of days!

Further Details:

There are supermarkets in the town, but most people would do a 'big' shop at a supermarket like LeClerc which is about five minutes by car. Also you have various food markets which are fantastic. These are at La Seyne (10 mins by car) and Toulon (15mins by ferry). There is also a food market in St Mandrier every Saturday.

Minimum booking is one week. We rent Saturday to Saturday. We charge 50% of rate for days lost because of arrival or departure variations. e.g., if you arrive on Tuesday, you will be charged 50% for Sat, Sun, Mon. We charge full rate in July & August

50% reservation deposit, with balance payable 8 weeks before your arrival. An additional refundable deposit of €300 is required to cover any damage or breakages and to ensure the apartment is left as found in a clean and tidy condition.

Changeover Day:
Saturday is the preferred changeover day. Please note that check-in to the apartment is anytime after 1630 hrs on the day of arrival and check-out is no later than 1130 hrs.

  • Description of sleeping capacity: Sleeps 4 (2 Bedrooms) Notes on bedrooms: Bedroom 1 at back of apt. has double bed/bedside tables/lamps and large wardrobe. Bedroom 2 at front of apt. has twin beds/bedside tables/lamps and mirrored sliderobe.


  • Notes on accommodation: There is a mobile air conditioning unit kept in the salon. This is not normally needed as a nice breeze can be created by opening the front balcony doors and the back door. There is a storage cupboard by the front door, this is where we keep various beach toys, beach mattresses, seats, bags etc. The hot water controls are also located here as is the vacuum cleaner. Outside: It is lovely to take breakfast on the front balcony and watch the world go by. See the yachts coming and going. The balcony has 2 square wooden/metal garden tables and 4 matching chairs. Utility Room: Located on back balcony area. Contains sweeping brush & pan mobile clothes horse for drying clothes. Some shelving for storage of water bottles etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The cost for towels, bed linen and apartment preparation is included in the rental fee.
