Villa in Barraca de Aguas Vivas, Costa Azahar, Spain - A Short Drive From The Beach And Near To Shops And Restaurants

This spacious six bedroomed villa situated on the edge of a small village with WiFi offers a relaxed and scenic environment for a large groups of family or friends to enjoy time together. To help achieve this the villa's main living areas are air conditioned along with a large family bedroom. It enjoys several recreational area that incorporates; a good sized swimming pool with separate shallow area for the children, paved pool area with gazebo and sun loungers, a large double Gazebo covered outdoor dinning area, brick barbecue and 1/2 an acre of garden. The villa located just south of Valencia is well positioned to explore this fantastic city's architectural contrasts and famed night-life. Either in its new truly breath taking ultra-modern area of the city that contains Europe's largest aquarium or its historical cathedral and shopping areas. We have tried to generate a series of living spaces, that means even when a large group is in residence you can find that special quite spot.

Outside: The villa has a private 30' x 18' swimming pool with a shallow area for small children. It is surrounded by a large area of tiled poolside with room for 11 sun loungers, fenced on all but the gazebo side. The pool is available for use from 1st May until 1st October each year. On one side is a paved patio which houses the large brick built barbecue, gazebo, tables and chairs. A table tennis table is provided for guest use. To the rear of the house is an area enjoying the shade of a large walnut and fig tree, that provides an area out of the midday sun. The rest of the grounds are given over to Orange groves. Utility Room: Utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board and iron. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Other: Family/dining room (24'x 17') with long dining table, chairs and air conditioning unit.

Good size pool

Close to a lovely village

Easy train ride to Valencia


Poorly Maintained

Cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired

Dishwasher doesn't wash

Village is close but road is fast and busy and the guard dog is scary

Kitchen tree is home to a furry friend

Caravan opposite main entrance (Free range eggs - 3 euros)

Unusable children's play area

Furniture broken or in a state of disrepair

Unhelpful and antagonistic local contacts

Sunshade broke in first week - never replaced

Meaning we had to sit under gazebo next to septic tank - mmmmm nice!

Owner's Response: We were sorry you did not enjoy your stay at the villa this August, as we want everyone who stays there to enjoy themselves and feel they have received good value for money. We will look into the areas you have mentioned in your review, but feel we must be meeting most of our guests standards as have been awarded with five star reviews from our guests in every year since the review system started on owners direct in 2013. The couple that have looked after the villa since 2008 are praised in several of the reviews and emails for their helpful nature and superb local knowledge. We would though advise that if you book through owners direct in future that if things do not meet your standards you let the owner know at the time, not finish your holiday without contacting them and ask for a 50% refund. This lack of real-time feedback makes it hard to respond to your concerns and ensure anything we can do is done in good time .

Perfect for quality time with friends

What a find. We have just returned from a wonderful week at the villa. We travelled as 3 families with 4 children between the ages of 1 and 5 and it was perfect for what we wanted.

The villa was spotless and exceeded our expectations. Plenty of space and areas to socialise or catch some time to yourself. We wanted somewhere to spend quality time with friends whilst conscious it had to be suitable for the little ones. The kids section of the pool was perfect and we felt safe with the children there.

The big supermarkets were a short drive away and the beaches were easy to navigate. If you are looking for an escape to spend quality time with close ones enjoying BBQs around the pool away and from typical tourist resorts then this is perfect.

Perfect Villa

The property was ideal for our group who mostly sat around the pool and read our books etc. It was spacious and perfect for what we wanted. The pool was delightful given that it was very hot we were glad of it to cool down. Two of our group were entertained by the wild boar eating the walnuts in the early hours of the morning. We had a lovely week and were sorry to leave it on the Sunday morning. Thank you for making the villa available to us.

Excellent villa and pool

Stayed here for two weeks. Really spacious and well kept. The villa has two separate parts which is really handy for privacy if there is more than one family.

Plenty of space around pool for sunbathing and great the way you could see children in pool from the villa.

I loved the area. Lovely valley and small village but massive shopping complex very close by. Excellent beach resorts near by as well, Tavernes and Gandia.

Also very handy for Valencia by excellent train service from Alzira.

It is very Spanish but that's what I wanted. Helpful if some of your party can speak some Spanish.

We were delighted with the spacious villa, its position and the pool and grounds in which our two granddaughters could play safely.

The adults in the party thoroughly enjoyed the week and wish it could have been longer.

It was our first experience of renting and we were pleased to be met and shown around.

The nearest beach is about 15 minutes drive from the villa with plenty of parking right near the beach front. The beach is 5/6 miles long so sufficiently long to provide a combination of both restaurants and beach bar areas, combined with areas of quiet sand dune backed beach, ideal for families with younger members. The next beach along the coast to the South is Gandia, with its European Blue Flag Beach and whilst to the North is Cullera, with its 2 mile promenade, nightlife and water park.


Valencia Airport 45 mins, Alicante 90 mins, Reus 3 hrs Drive.

Due to the individual nature of this location car hire or use of car is recommended, but a local taxi service can provide a pickup and drop off service to the local train station (Alzira) which can be accessed in under the hour from Valencia's Airport Metro Station or direct to Valencia Airport.


The nearest village is 800 yrds and provides sufficient shopping for your holiday. Whilst the two local towns Alzira and Carcaxient both have large shopping complexes are just 3 miles away. The city of Valencia can be reached in 1/2 an hours drive or by train from Alzira´s railway station in 1/2 an hour . The village has three bars two restaurants, a convenience store, bakers and chemist.

Further Details:

The valley the villa lies in and acts as the gateway into the Safor Mountains which are well loved by walkers and cyclists. The valley has three monasteries two of which can be visited as well as several other historical buildings. For anyone interested in history or shopping of a more individual nature nearby Xativa home of Spain’s only Popes, offers a large medieval old town with winding narrow streets and a spectacular castle. Valencia's national park lies a short drive away with good scope for more intensive walking.

There is a refundable security deposit of €400 to cover breakages etc. To avoid energy mismanagement and wastage the use of air-conditioners or electric heating, there is a free electricity allocation of 200 KWh per week thereafter there is a charge of £15 per 100 KWh.

Changeover Day:
We are flexible on changeover day through the low season, but during July and August only Saturday change overs are available.
Arrival time is 16:30 and departure time is 10:30 to give our staff time to get the villa ready for you to enjoy your stay.
