Villa in Plaka, Nr. Almyrida Beach, Chania - 25 Min Walk To Beach And 5-10 Min Walk To Local Facilities

Villa Alsoneiro offers a lovely setting for a relaxing holiday in Western Crete and is situated walking distance from the local village of Plaka and 20 mins walk from the seaside town of Almerida. (Approx 1.6km/1 mile)The villa provides comfortable accommodation for 6 persons and includes Satellite/DVD, fitted kitchen and much more. The double balcony offers a breathtaking view of Souda Bay where you can often see the ferries coming and going from the other Greek Islands. To the right the contrasting mountain scenery finishes off the panoramic views of the surrounding area, if you can drag yourself away from the view, the large private patio downstairs is an ideal place to enjoy a family BBQ or simply to relax in the sun, using the loungers provided. The garden features a variety of local plants including various herbs which create a lovely aroma as the sun goes down. Furnished to a high standard the Villa offers a comfortable stay for visitors of all ages and includes air-conditioning throughout.

The Villa is part of a small complex of 5 properties all facing towards the breathtaking views of Souda Bay. The pool is the central point and is an ideal spot to share a drink with your neighbours should you wish to. However the various areas around the Villa itself offers space to relax in private. The Garden next to the Patio area is a good spot for taking in the sunshine using the sunbeds. The pool is 1.6m in depth

Entrance to the area is via a gate which ensures that there will be no passing visitors to the pool or public areas around the pool area.

A Car park is provided.

Its hard to describe in words the tranquillity and sense of calm experienced from the location of the Villa and every window offers up a different view.

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Crete last summer. The villa is a perfect bolt hole for people who want peace and quiet but not being too far away for village life, decent restaurants and great beaches.



I would highly recommend a visit to war graves in Souda bay and the just up the road is great bakery. We hired a car and travelled all over the island the villa is in the perfect location to join the national highway. Whilst travelling around we found some delightful villages in the mountains and some isolated tavernas one of which was at the top of mountain near Platanias with stunning views and the best greek food ever.



The villa is well maintained and had everything that we required the side garden is a real suntrap and the swimming pool was great. I would highly recommend holidaying at your villa and will undoubtedly return again.

Clean, comfortable, quiet.

We were impressed by the living area/ kitchen. Very useable and relaxing. Arrived in a heatwave so the pool was well used although it was unfortunate that most of us were unable to touch the bottom. Two good outside eating areas, we had no meals indoors. The whole villa was exceptionally clean on our arrival. It is a pity the approach road is in such terrible condition.

I personally found the lack of handrails both by the outside steps and by the indoor staircase frustrating as my mobility is somewhat limited. Small niggles...one tiny glass chopping board, no tray and a selection of blunt kitchen knives and scissors. All in all though we had a wonderful holiday here and would thoroughly recommend it.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you enjoyed your holiday, your feedback is invaluable and I will take steps to replace the tray as I didn't realise it was missing. I will also replace the kitchen knives now I am aware. Sadly the approach to the Villa is a matter for the local residents of the area and we have been campaigning to get the road finished but as with all things Greek, it's a slow process. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and will look forward to welcoming you back.

Lovely Family Holiday

Villa indeed was very spacious, lovely front and back sitting areas/bbq. Favorite of ours - bedroom balcony overlooking Souda Bay in the distance. Property very clean, starter pack in fridge much appreciated and all there that you needed. Wifi was a bonus, books and games on the side welcome entertainment for evenings. Walked down to village to eat at Takis Restaurant frequently - steep short-cut leads down to village (just behind garden). Supermarket nearby, bar and other restaurants in village or further down the hill in Almyrida.

We would recommend property to small group of friends (4) or small family for a quiet holiday in lovely surrounding. Rental Car a must.

A Relaxing Get Away

There was a group of 4 of us together looking to get away from everything. We were looking for sun, to unwind it a peaceful place and the option to explore; the villa and town gave us everything we expected. Clean, spacious and glorious views we felt very lucky to have found this gem. Well worth booking. We can't think of anything negative about our experience only that we didn't book a second week.

Lovely Villa with Stunning Sea Views

We highly recommend this villa as it’s very comfortable, well equipped in a perfect location. Breakfast on the balcony overlooking beautiful Souda Bay is a must. Perfect for couples or families

Close to village centre (within walking distance) with a number of great taverna’s serving excellent food and friendly service.

Near to the lovely beach resort of Almyrida with it’s many restaurants and good watersport facilities.

Returning in 2016 for 3rd time as it’s perfect for enjoyable relaxing holiday.

Very eye catching with excellent views of the bay

The Villa had a relaxing and inviting charm as you walked in, it was clean and tidy, well equipped with a nice touch of a welcome pack to great us.

The two outside dining areas were an added bonus but were outshone by the upstairs balcony which overlooked Souda Bay where we spent much of our time.

We would highly recommend staying at this villa which represented the relaxing holiday we were looking for.

A lovely villa in the perfect location.

This lovely peaceful villa with stunning views over Souda Bay. The location was perfect. We ate out every night of our holiday, with such amazing food in incredible restaurants (I almost don't want you to know about "The Retreat") why wouldn't you? We were also stunned to find long, sandy beaches with "free" sunbeds and drinks served to you. Chania (pronounced (Hania) is also well worth a visit (or two!) We had a wonderful holiday and Alison, thank you so much for all your help in the planning stages.

Special interest holidays:

The area around the villa is famous for its walking tours and trips to Samaria Gorge would be a must for the enthusiast. Two water parks are located on the island with the nearest being 30mins drive. Chania harbour is a lovely area to explore with a variety of local shops and curios stalls. The Market in Chania hosts a variety of local produce including fish, meats and local herbs and spices. Lake Koudos is a short drive away & provides an alternative setting to the seaside. The beach of Almerida is an ideal spot for sun worshippers and families as its shallow waters provide a safe area to paddle, build sand castles & have fun beside the sea. Sunbeds are available on the beach (a small cost is involved) and as the tavernas are within a few steps, Almerida is an ideal spot to enjoy a cold beer or glass of retsina at lunchtime.

Coast/Beach:

The pretty shallow bay of Almerida is a 15-20 min walk away where a variety of shops, restaurants (including an ice cream Parlour, Pizza/Pasta & a host of fish/local tavernas) can be found.Money exchange, car hire & cash point are also available & a taxi rank for those wishing to take the easy route back home at the end of a relaxing day on the beach. The beach is sandy and shallow and hosts a local water sports hire centre (non motorised) who can also provide lessons for windsurfing etc.

Travel:

Chania Airport - 30mins drive. Heraklion Airport - 1.45 - 2hrs drive along the easy coast road. Car hire is recommended although taxi fares are reasonable and prices can be arranged on request. A local bus service and various excursions can be booked from Almerida.

Bus transfers are available from both airports please ask for details

Distances:

Plaka village is a 10 min walk, Almerida is 15 - 25mins, Local interests include the historic city of Chania with its bustling port and the water park. Samaria Gorge and Lake Koudos are all available by Excursion and easily accessible by car. Georgopolis makes an interesting change and offers a lovely public lido and beach area. Remote but beautiful local beaches are easily found in the area

Further Details:

The village of Plaka hosts a good selection of excellent restaurants many of which are renoun for their high standard of local food. There is also a small number of snack bars and two mini markets. Further on Almerida and Kalives offer a larger choice of restaurants. Plaka offers two small supermarkets where you can buy just about everything from the local wine to fresh vegetables and frozen pizza! A larger supermarket can be located on the coast road just outside of Kalives.

  • The Villa offers various comfortable areas to relax. The patio is a suntrap during the day and an ideal area to relax on the loungers, in addition to comfy outside sofas under the pretty Pergola. The large porch area overlooks the pool and provides a table with seating area for up to 6. An ideal place for Breakfast or Lunch. The pool is lit at night and provides a stunning effect until the lights go out at around midnight. The upstairs balcony offers an unforgettable panoramic view of the bay both during the day and at night when the bay comes alive with lights across the water. Airconditioning is provided through out and can double up as heating during the winter months making the Villa an ideal location for a winter stay. A welcome pack is provided and comprises of Coffee Tea Sugar Milk Orange Juice and Water. If you would like further supplies such as bread, wine etc these can be provided at a small cost. Internet Access is via WiFi Outside: Villa Alsoneiro directly overlooks the pool area which is shared by 4 other properties. The patio, garden & balcony are all private. The pool has a ladder for accessibility. Villa Alsoneiro provides everything required for a relaxing holiday in the sun and is ideally located to visit the surrounding area which includes Samaria Gorge, Lake Koudos, Chania Port,Water Park & various local villages & towns which offer a selection of tavernas & bars to suit all tastes.
