Comprehensive stock of cooking utensils in a roomy open-plan kitchen- all small electrical appliances; dishwasher, washer & dryer. Separate laundry room for added storage space. About the Owner

I have lived in Spain for 36 years, 28 of them in Marbella, where I was a builder and an interior designer.

My mother was Spanish (from Llanes, in Asturias) and I am totally integrated into the Spanish way of life, and am bi-lingual. (Actually, tri-lingual, with French.)

I fled the Coast for the campo of Gaucin. The attractions are the breathtaking rural countryside, Straits and Africa, and the natural lifestyle, which includes food locally grown. I have 4 rental "units" here and love the positive feedback from my renters. Everyone is amazed at how beautiful, tranquil, and well-located Gaucin is, and ofc, how extraordinary my properties are - beauty and comfort.

Hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding.: 3 "picaderos" (riding rings) & trail rides. The largest virgen forest in Europe: 100´s of km2 of cork forest. Excursions: beaches; towns - Ronda, Algeciras, & Gibraltar; cities - Cádiz, Granada, Sevilla, Córdoba. Archaeological remains: World-class cave with 40 different cave cultures, with drawings & artefacts; Phoenician & Roman ruins abound; a Neolithic city has been uncovered in front of the Crestellina; Gaucin, in the path of major bird migrations, is a haven for bird watchers.

Festivals: Jan. – 3 Kings parade, Feb. – Carnival & Día de Andalucía; Mar -- procession San Juan de Diós; Apr – Easter bull run thru the streets; May -- ArtGaucin Open Studios on 2 wkends; June -- bonfire of S. Juan; July -- flamenco festival, last wkend; Aug -- annual fair, 1st wkend; Sept -- processions, pilgrimage & novena of the Santo Niño,; Oct -- Día de Pilar; Nov – All Saint´s Day, Dec – Xmas festivities.

Coast/Beach:

Driving time to the beach at Sabinillas is 25 minutes; Estepona - 40 mins., Marbella - 50 mins., Sotogrande - 40 mins.

Travel:

Málaga airport: 1.5 hours, Gibraltar 1 hour, Seville 2.5 hours.

Pick up from and delivery to airports at Malaga or Gibraltar can be provided.

Distances:

Ronda - 30 mins, Marbella - 50 mins, Algeciras - 1 hr, Tarifa - 1 hr 20 mins, Málaga - 1 hr 30 mins, Seville - 2 hrs, Granada - 2 hrs 30 mins, Cádiz - 2 hrs, Jerez - 2 hrs, Córdoba - 2 hrs 30 mins. We can arrange trips to Seville, Granada, Cádiz, Tangier, Tarifa.

Gaucin sells everything one needs: food, pharmacy, banking, flowers, hardware, pet supplies, stationery, general stores, doctors, etc. Much of the food is locally produced.

This part of Spain is famous for hill walking and rambling, the mountains locally offer some challenging walks and mountain climbs. The valleys and river beds offer less strenuous walking, as do the many cork and pine forests which cover the area. Gaucin borders 2 national Parks, the Sierra de Grazalema and Los Alcornocales, and is overlooked by the mountain range of the Serrania de Ronda Mountains. The Beaches of the Costa del Sol are a 35 minute drive away and a little further on you will find the infamous millionaires playgrounds of Puerto Banus and Marbella.

Notes:

  • Outside: The pool is a generous sized 10m x 5 m and is surrounded by be a terra cotta terrace with sunbeds. There is also a large community pool in Gaucin, and tennis courts, and many people like to swim in the Genal river. The building is in town and is within walking distance of everything. Utility Room: Washing machine & clothes dryer, ladder, all cleaning equipment incl. vacuum cleaner, shelving for food, etc., storage. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: High quality towels, towelling robes and (ironed) sheets are provided. Maid available upon request. Property is thoroughly cleaned after each visit. Other: Entrance hall has a skylight and phone connection to main door for visitors.
