Villa in Tres Calas, L'Ametlla de Mar, Costa Dorada - Ideal For A Restful Romantic Break Or Fun Packed Family Holiday

Las Mimosas, a beautiful family owned villa with a large garden and private pool, is located in Las Tres Cales - a peaceful residential area of privately owned villas, of which about 60% are Spanish owned and occupied. The villa has 3 bedrooms, 2 toilets/bathroom, a living/dining room and a covered porch overlooking the garden and pool. The villa is centrally heated in the winter, there is a wood burning stove too, a real bonus for winter lets! It is only a short drive to the sea, where the tiny coves and sandy stretches of beach make this one of the most attractive and least developed coastlines in Spain. The villa is 4 km from the fishing port of L'Ametlla de Mar, there is also a small commercial area nearby with a supermarket, bar, restaurant, bakery and several other shops. In addition to the more obvious family attractions of the area, a holiday in Las Mimosas will definitely appeal to anyone with a passion for exploring authentic regional culture.

The house has plenty of space and is easy to live in - supporting inside/outside living in the summer months. Being built in an older, more traditional style, the house keeps cool, light and airy inside. The house has a loved and lived in feel that is important to us.

What makes this villa unique

Set back a little from the sea, we get the advantage of mountain views behind us and peeks of the sea in the other direction. For us, it's the light, wide open sky, bird song and green palms that never cease to delight us.

Your home is really beautiful & ideally located. We had lots of fun in the pool & a couple of BBQs in the evenings. The whole area is very pretty & a taste of true Spain. We enjoyed the tapas from one of the many superb restaurants in the town square. Thank you for a really wonderful time.

Thank you for a super holiday. Your villa is really fantastic. What a change it made for us knowing that the children were safe at all times. We ventured out every day & found some wonderful beaches, all very different & all very beautiful in their own way.

Special interest holidays:

The villa is a 30 mins drive from the magnificent River Ebro, the site of some of the best fishing in Europe. Days out on the river can be arranged.

Coast/Beach:

Cala Forn, our closest beach, is a 5 mins drive away (30 mins to walk). It is a Blue Flag small sandy cove.

Not far away you can find Platja de Sant Jordi, where the ruins of the castle Sant Jordi remain as a reminder of the times when pirates sailed this coast. Now the coast is good for swimming, diving, snorkelling and fishing.

There are many secluded sandy and pebbly beaches along this coastline, as well as marked walks (Try the walk along the cliffs towards L'Ametlla - about 3km).

Travel:

A car is advisable to enable you to visit some of the stunning attractions in Catalonia. There are the usual range of car hire options at Reus Airport; Goldstar proving to be the cheapest recently.

Fly to Barcelona (1.5 hour drive) an easy drive as the airport is our side of Barcelona.

Fly to Barcelona-Reus (only 40 mins drive).

You can pick up some great deals with Ryanair into Barcelona-Reus, especially midweek.

Distances:

Barcelona, City of Culture, is 1.5 hour's drive away. The city is served by up to 8 trains daily from L'Ametlla; a great hassle-free way to visit the city.

L'Ametlla de Mar is a 10 mins drive away.

Tarragona, the walled Roman city with an amphitheatre/attractive historic area, is 45 mins drive or train.

Port Aventura, the Great Universal Studios Theme Park, is widely considered to be the best and biggest in Europe. The park is 40km from the villa and can be easily reached by car or train.

Further Details:

Catalonia is a wonderful place to explore; it is rich in natural beauty and history. This region is famous for its wines, cava and olives. There are market towns, monasteries, lakes, rolling hills, distant mountains and typically Spanish villages untouched by tourism, fishing, a motor-cross track, castles and national parks.

L'Ametlla de Mar's history dates back to the 18th century. Now it is a working fishing village, & not surprisingly there are plenty of restaurants, many specialising in seafood & fish. L'Ametlla cannot be described as a clubbers resort, you may find a small club tucked away somewhere, but they are definately the exception to the rule. Visitors tend to have spent the day on the beach or exploring the area...looking for a relaxing meal.

Miravet - Picturesque village on the banks of the Ebro, reached by a traditional ferry. Miravet has a Templar Castle dating back to 1153 & quaint street cafes to sit & soak up the atmosphere.

The Ebro River, a fishermans paradise!This beautiful river, 40 minutes drive, is renowned for its fishing (carp, catfish, barbell, zander, roach, rudd & mullett) Fishing trips may be arranged.You can find hourly boat trips, riverside restaurants & flat bicyle trails.Follow the Ebro up through the mountains to delightful Spanish mountain villages & breathtaking scenery.

Deltebre is an area of National Park; the second largest European wetland with over 400 species of birds, miles of sandunes, windsurfing & a rich rice growing area.

Markets - there are local markets held throughout the week

Barcelona City of Culture, surely one of the most exciting modern European cities, a comfortable day out from the villa

Walking - The GR92, a footpath stretching from Italy to Southern Spain, passes along the local coast. Even walking a short stretch allows you to enjoy spactacular coastal scenery & breathe in the typical Mediterranean aromas of rosemary, thyme, lavender & pine.

Falset - wine tasting & annual wine festival

Contact details etc will be given to you before you start your holiday, and between us we endeavour to make sure you reach there safely and have all you require to enjoy a wonderful holiday Outside: Las Mimosas is set on a large plot with mature garden with orange, fig, and olive trees, as well as pineapple palms, surrounding the villa. The larger than usual pool (8m x 5m) is solely for your use, it is regularly maintained by our gardener. The pool area is lawn and flagstone, with plenty of space for lounging, eating and playing. We offer a range of garden furniture (6 sun beds, 2 tables with chairs, 2 large sun umbrellas) for you to discover your own garden areas to relax in... sunshine or shade, behind the house in seclusion or in front of the villa. There is also a covered porch area with bistro table and chairs that is our favourite place to chill out in. The long driveway can easily accommodate up to 3 cars. The garden is enclosed safely with high hedges for privacy. Cleaning / Towels / Linen: All of the bed linen that you will need is provided. We provide hand towels and bath towels but not bath sheets or beach towels. During a 2 week stay, you will be given clean bedding for your second week. Other: Iron and ironing. board, hairdryer

A fantastic family villa, well situated, Villa owners Mary and Mark were first class!

We were full of trepidation booking our annual summer holiday on line, reading horror stories of fraud and misery. What a relief to deal with Mary and Mark , they were a very attentive and understanding at all times.The villa is exactly as described , beautiful, spacious and the air-conditioning a relief . The focal point was the well maintained swimming pool which is enormous , our children had endless fun in it. The villa is well situated for countless beaches and coves which are only ten minutes journey by car. There are bars an restaurants within walking distance plus the cities of Tarragona and Reus which are picturesque and full of charm. Could not recommend enough! Alex and family.

Bliss!

Recently stayed in this villa with my family and had the loveliest time.

The villa was pristine and had everything that we could possibly need, the pool was amazing and there were many afternoons spent around it...We really didn't want to leave the pool each day but there's so much in the area to visit and explore that you have to!

I've already been in touch to go back next year as there's still so much to explore. We only found Tarragona on our last day...Such a shame as this is a beautiful area, must see.

Shops and a little cafe all within a very short walking distance, as well as a stunning beach close to, but despite this it's a lovely, quiet area and we hardly heard/saw anyone while lounging around the pool. Perfect!

Mary was great in the lead up, while we were there, and since our return and nothing was to much trouble...Overall can't recommend highly enough : )

La villa Las Mimosas était parfaite, très bien équipée,quartier résidentiel, pas de vis-a-vis , piscine géante, Propriètaires adorables et personnes sur place super gentilles et disponibles si besoin!!! Villa proche de Salou, Miami Platza et Calafat!!! C'est la 7éme fois qu'on venait en Espagne mais c'est la meilleure maison 💜 merciiiii de ce super séjour de 11j 😊
