About the Owner

I'm British and have spent my holidays in Spain for the last 20 years. I met my husband there and we have a daughter.

We try to go to Mallorca as much as possible, often in the spring and autumn.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Betlem. The location is beautiful with fantastic walks on your doorstep. Your house is very comfortable, well equipped, tastefully furnished and offers fantastic views on the mountains and sea from upstairs (sunbathing on the balcony upstairs is bliss!) We also really liked the Spanish design of your property and the clever use of the space. We liked the attention to detail throughout. Catherine - May 2013

Superb location

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time in Mallorca- thank you so much for the villa!

We loved the location - the mountains are amazing and Betlem itself is so beautifully quiet (a rarity in Mallorca). We also loved colonia de St Pere and walked there with the oldest kids from the property (took about an hour along the cliffs).

The villa itself was spotless and a really good space even with three kids. We loved the decor (I have a lot of similar things in my own house!) and really appreciated the coffee machine especially after one too many bottles of white rijoca the night before!

The pool was great and we had it to ourselves most of the time.

We loved the restaurant up the road too - I think we sampled most things on the menu!

We had a fabulous week full of sun, sand, Clear sea, geckos, mountains, padron peppers, hermit crabs, rock pools, tapas, ice cream, cool breezes and hot sunshine. we were very sad to leave!

Hopefully we will come back one day.

Perfekt Villa für eine Familie

  • 5 of 5

From the Owner

I lived and taught in Mallorca for a year and absolutely love the island. I still have good friends here and it was they who introduced us to the charms of Betlem and Colonia San Pere, far from the crowded resorts. We love coming here. As you get closer to Betlem the rural scenery is more and more beautiful - olive, almond and fig trees abound - and then I see the mountains rising up against the blue sky and I know we'll see the sea in a few more minutes. Our daughter can't wait to get into the pool or play in the waves at Colonia San Pere even in November and March! When I wake up the first morning and see the mountains and sea, I know I've got away from it all.

The sea is 3 minutes' walk away. The coastline here is wild rocky 'calas' or coves and there are several pretty coastal walks. A good family beach is 3km (5 mins) away at the pretty fishing village of Colonia Sant Pere. Within 25 minutes' drive there are good beaches and seaside resorts along the Bay of Alcudia especially the huge Playa del Muro. Lovely Cala Mesquida with its turquoise sea is 20 mins. Cala Rajada is a seaside resort with cafes and restaurants by the old port and seafront.

Palma airport - Sant Jordi - is less than an hour's drive approximately 60 kms. Car hire is recommended. You can also bring your car across on the ferry from Valencia or Barcelona.

Xoroi car hire offer a good deal.

Colonia San Pere - 5 mins.

Artá 15 mins.

Alcudia 25 mins.

Palma 55 mins.

Further Details:

There is a little corner shop Sa Botiga open during the summer season. There is a Spar in Colonia San Pere by the yachting marina, open on Sunday mornings. Eroski in the high street in Artá. Mercadona in Alcudia and Carrefour near the airport. You can also buy milk at the airport shop.

Weather: From April to October you can have wonderful weather and even in February and November you might be in just a t shirt. February is famous for the beautiful almond blossoms all over the island that give an appearance of snowflakes.

Visit Colonia San Pere (about a mile away) where you can have lunch or a drink at one of several restaurants along the seafront while you watch the children play on the beach. We often have breakfast here of pan amb oli (bread with olive oil, tomato and ham or cheese). The village of Artá is 15 minutes drive and you can stroll around the town or visit the hermitage on the hill. You can also relax in the many cafes and restaurants or enjoy looking at the pretty shops. Alcudia makes a pleasant trip with it's narrow streets in the old town. Capdepera is worth a visit to see the castle on the hill. Pollenca is also interesting and you can have something to eat or drink in the main square. It has a bustling market on Sundays. Day trips from Betlem take in much of the island. The famous Drach caves are an easy day trip and inland there are small towns and monasteries to see. Manacor has the church and old square which make a nice stop for coffee or lunch. Palma is highly recommended. It is a beautiful city with its striking cathedral, Arab baths, old town, seafront good shopping and multitiude of restaurants. Not far from the airport is the Aquarium - we had a great family outing there. There is fabulous mountain walking in Mallorca too - especially good in Spring and Autumn.

From the Owner

The house is a joy to be in. We love having a good coffee and fresh orange juice for breakfast out on the terrace. If we want a day at home we can go for gentle strolls along the coast or more energetic hikes into the hills or just lie by the pool with a good book. A stroll down for lunch or an ice-cream on the terrace at a local restaurant is a treat for our daughter and game of tennis in the late afternoon with dinner and a beer on the terrace is a nice way to finish the day. We love exploring too and go on various day trips to local beaches, our favourite being Playa de Muro. Artá is always a pleasure to amble around and have a meal there. There are lots of things to do and see all within an easy day trip including Palma.
