Apartment in Costa Calma, Fuerteventura - In A Unique Setting, Situated Above The Beautiful Sotavento Beach.

The apartment is finished to a high standard and has a balcony which overlooks the beach just 10 minutes walk away. A roof terrace and a swimming pool with adjacent showers and toilets are also available for guests' use. The complex is situated on a hill in a Natural Park near the town of Costa Calma which is only 15 minutes walk away and where a wide selection of restaurants and shops can be found. However a car is essential to access the full range of facilities nearby. Jandia Playa and Morro Jable, 15 minutes drive south, offer a wide variety of eating places and retail outlets whilst the Oasis Park, one of the island's major tourist attractions, is only 15 minutes drive north at La Lajita. The apartment complex is ideally placed for a get-away from it all holiday or if you prefer an active holiday then wind surfing, kite surfing and beach sailing take place on the Sotovento beach at the Rene Egli Centre below the complex where equipment can be rented and lessons arranged.

Why Jean and Dave Burgan chose Pájara

We lived in Australia many years ago and when we first saw the Sotavento Beach it reminded us of the beaches near Sydney where we lived. The apartment complex was just being built overlooking the beach and we decided to buy one of the apartments to be reminded of years gone by.

What makes this apartment unique

The view from the apartment is amazing and one which we never tire of. To wake up in the morning looking out at the ocean is a special treat.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: This is a no-smoking apartment but if guests want to smoke it is requested that they do so on the balcony where an ash tray is provided. Mosquito/fly screens have been fitted on all the windows. Please note also that animals/pets are not allowed during occupancy. Outside: There is a communal pool which is approx 25m long and 1.5m deep with adjacent showers and toilets. It is not heated. There is no baby pool. Sun loungers with cushions are provided for guests' use. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen, towels & blankets are provided but PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BEACH TOWELS. For stays longer than a week, a mid-stay linen/towel change will be provided. Any additional services can be arranged. Managers are available locally to deal with any problems. Other: Patio doors from the lounge lead onto the balcony where there is a small table and 2 chairs. Another 2 fold-up chairs are stored in the apartment.

Lovely position. Immaculately presented. Great views of the sea and beach.

It was a great position as a short walk to the beach and the Rene Egli windsurfing centre. lovely pool which we swam in every morning. The flat was well equipped and we ate in every other night. Would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Quiet, well situated, clean apartment

From the outset the booking process was straightforward and Jean was prompt when replying to any queries. We picked a hire car up from the airport, which we feel is essential for this apartment. Jean's directions were detailed and clear - a great help! The apartment was clean, pretty and airy with everything we could possibly want. We were lucky with the weather and spent a couple of great days on the smaller of the two nearest beaches, where there were sunbeds and umbrellas. One day when it was windy we stayed on the roof terrace for a couple of hours and found it was really sheltered. The walk into town from the apartment didn't take as long as it looked (about 25 minutes to the far end for a coffee every morning).

There are lots of recommendations for restaurants in the apartment but we would find it difficult to choose one as every one that we visited was good quality. When we did eat in the apartment, we found the kitchen to be very well equipped. We would definitely recommend this apartment to family and friends. Thanks Jean & Dave

Playa Paradisio Residencial welcome you warmly

We had a very pleasant stay in this appartment. It is very well designed and decorated. We found the appartment very clean and with small nice welcome suprises. The owners let to our disposal useful things for cooking and cleaning. We appreciated a lot the available turist informations (with photos), the CDs and DVDs. The landscape which can be seen from the balcony delighted us at any time.

Only remarks concern the unmade road which brings to the residencial and the few parking places.

We try and make it as comfortable as possible and it is good to know that the extra touches are appreciated. Unfortunately, because the complex is in a natural park, the local council will not allow us to have a tarmac road, hence the unmade track. There are many such tracks on the island but we hope that one day the council will change their minds with regard to ours.

Great accommodation with views to match

We had two weeks at the apartment .Which is fitted out really well home from home in fact. The views are great with sunshine pouring in the apartment all morning.

Only down side is the unmade access road .That aside I would recommend this apartment

Lovely stay in Costa Caa

Great apartment, great location

This is a really lovely and well equipped apartment. The block is set on the hillside with fabulous views. It is outside of Costa Calma and you definitely need a car if you stay here. The owners responded quickly to our email enquiries and in a helpful, friendly manner. The pool area here is clean and well looked after, in face the whole complex is clean and tidy. We would not hesitate to recommend this apartment for your holiday. Only downside I think is the poor WiFi. We had to sit by the pool to access it and it was very slow. Not really a problem for us but if you are taking kids who are glued to phones etc, then it could be a problem.

Car: necessary

Coast/Beach:

The 10km long golden sandy beach of Sotavento starts at Costa Calma and ends at Morro Jable and is ideal for beach walking. There's access from the complex to the beach which is just 10 mins walk down the hill where beach facilities are available. Wind/kite surfing/beach sailing equipment can be hired or lessons arranged at the Rene Egli Centre. There is a board surfing beach at La Pared on the west coast where the waves are bigger. There are steps down to this beach but it's worth the effort.

Travel:

The airport at Puerto del Rosario is 1 hour's drive away from the apartment and so car hire is necessary, although transfers can be arranged if required.

Distances:

Costa Calma is the nearest town at approx 2km away whilst Jandia Playa and Morro Jable are further south but are still only 15 mins drive away. They all have a wide variety of restaurants, pubs, weekly markets and shops. Caleta de Fuste is 45 minutes drive north from the apartment where you will find a shallow protected bay, a busy little port, the Atlantico Center (a shopping complex with a multi-screen cinema and bowling alley) and golf.

Further Details:

In July each year, World Cup windsurfing and kite surfing events are held over a 2 week period on the Sotavento Beach. These take place at the Rene Egli Pro Center below the apartment.

The Oasis Park at La Lajita is less than 15 mins drive away and is the island's biggest tourist attraction. There is a zoo, a large botanical garden and cactus park, camel rides and numerous animal shows. The park also has two restaurants.

If you fancy a change from sun bathing, other activities are available in the area. These include snorkelling, deep sea fishing, horse riding and go-karting to name but a few. Details about these pursuits can be found in the apartment's information booklet.

Driving around the island, there are several places of interest for the visitor. Pajara, inland from Gran Tarajal, is the administrative centre for the region, and has a church dating back to 1687 with an Aztec-influenced door. Driving northwest from here is Ajuy which has a coastal walk along the rocks leading to spectacular caves. From Ajuy you can drive to Betancuria, once the island's capital, where the Church of St Mary dates back to 1410. If you continue driving north to the top of the island you will reach Corralejo where you can take a ferry across to Lanzarote for the day.
