200 year old stone house on edge of tranquil village, birthplace of the 100 year war, set on a hilltop, surrounded by some of Aquitaine's most beautiful countryside. The house has been renovated to provide comfortable family accommodation. Bright aspect with large living kitchen and adjoining terrace which gives direct access across a tiny village lane to a private, enclosed garden with 19' x 12' in ground pool, large terrace, loungers, teak dining furniture, parasol and BBQ. Spectacular views from nearby scenic windmill and play area. 4 km to the pretty village of Castelmoron sur Lot with its riverside walks, weekly market, shops and boules ground. Within 30 mins of 2 theme parks, many lovely restaurants, festivals and free open air music concerts (in season), medieval villages, fine waterways, floral gardens, boating and riverside walks plus the department capital, Agen with its historic buildings, smart shops and cafes. Something for all ages to enjoy.

About the Owner

We had visited many different areas of France before finally buying this village house from a French family in 2004. We were enchanted with the village and its history as it is the birthplace of the 100 Years War, when the English garison marched down the hill to the tiny hamlet of St. Sardos and attacked the French monks. We are now related by marriage to a delightful French family scattered in various areas of France, which helps when practising the language, although I have a long way to go to keep up with the family banter when they are all chattering excitedly.

Spring holiday in a beautiful stone house

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful house exceeded our expectations, it was very clean and comfortable. The pool area was very inviting all though we didn't have the weather to appreciate it. The countryside with its picturesque towns and restaurants are well worth visiting. My husband and l would certainly revisit again.

Relaxing stay in a sleepy French village.

  • 4 of 5

We had a very relaxing stay at this property, which was clean and well maintained, with good facilities (laundry, dishwasher etc). The host was friendly and helpful and provided lots of information about the property and surrounding areas.-we visited many of the nearby picturesque villages and towns (thoroughly recommend Pujols)

Perfect for anyone wanting to "get away from it all" and enjoy some peace and quiet.

Traditional France

We had a great stay at this very French house. It was perfect for discovering the very picturesque villages of south west France. The pool was a welcome relief from a long hot day in the sun.

Location

From the Owner

Lot et Garonne is a beautiful farming and fruit growing area, with rolling hills, deciduous woodland, lush rivers and lakes. It is rather like the Lake District in Cumbria but with much more sun and warmth and it has been called "The Tuscany of France" in some guidebooks. Mediaeval villages abound, with many street markets and Night Markets, where food, wine, music and dancing while away the long summer evenings. This is traditional France, the rural heartland where the language is spoken with a local twang, and the night sky is a fascinating panorama of sparkling stars. Despite this, it is quite well served with airport links and you can drive most of the way on motorway with very little to pay in tolls - a rare bonus in France!

Facilities

From the Owner

I love the fact that the house is on the edge of a quiet rural village, so I can be peaceful and relaxed without feeling isolated. It is a wonderful place to stretch out by the pool. At the same time, there are so many things to do within easy reach that my friends and family of all ages have plenty to occupy them, whether it's "Go Ape" in the treetops, or canoeing, visiting the nearby Department capital of Agen, with its lovely cathedral, shops and restaurants, or ambling along the Lot Valley cycle route on a bike.
