The gite is great, one of the best we have stayed in. Geoff (aged 73) loved the trampoline. The weather has been a real bonus. Warm & sunny all week. We have explored the beaches and thought Erquy, Sables d'Or Les Pins and Le Val Andre were particularly memorable. Also loved Dinan and Dinard. Sue & Geoff (June 13)

We have had a lovely holiday in Bretagne and have loved the gite...Too many nice places to recommend, but we particularly enjoyed the beaches on the Emerald Coast...We also loved Dinan - there are some lovely restaurants around the harbour...We found the gite well equiped as others before have noted, and should we ever re-visit this part of Bretagne, we would love to stay again. Sad to go back after our lovely 2 weeks, thanks Kate & Derek we've really enjoyed and all was as you promised. Darren, Emma & Sadie (May 13)

ovely week here in this Gite. Great for families. Boys loved the trampoline...All the equipment has been brilliant for baby girl. We have enjoyed chilling out at the Gite and travelling further afield. St Cast is lovely and Dinan perfect for a stroll around...Thanks for a lovely week. Steve, Natasha, Daniel, Samuel & Georgia (Aug 12)

A lovely holiday in a comfortable gite which has been very thoughtfully equipped & furnished & has a warm & sheltered garden. We have explored & enjoyed the beautiful countryside & wonderful absence of traffic...Thank you for all this and more. Grace & John (June 12)

Heaven, absolute heaven!! John & Lorraine (Sep 11)

This is our second visit here and surely not our last! We love the cottage and we love the area... Overall, we had a great trip. You can't go wrong round here. The cottage is wonderful and our baby had a wonderful cot here. Our 3 year old loved the trampoline (& me too!!) I am sure we will be back. Ruth, Tim, Lara & Tess (June 11)

The Gite has ticked all our boxes as a place to base ourselves for the week. The layout is very toddler friendly... Dinan is a lovely medieval town, great to walk about... our toddler loved the aquarium in St Malo and we all enjoyed Bourbonsais and the safari park... The beach at Dinard was brilliant, great views and perfect sand for sand castles! We have had a lovely time thanks for having us to stay at the Gite. Andrew, Gaby & Ollie (Sept 10)

We have had a fantastic time, sorry to be going home, the beaches around Dinard & St Malo are brilliant, the gite itself is all that we hoped for. The barn was an added bonus as the kids loved this. All in all fantastic. Darren & Michelle July 10

Super cute cottage in lovely location

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely time at this cottage, it's quite a remote location but we loved that and liked the villages and towns nearby. The place is very clean and has everything you need. The hosts left a good booklet of things to do in the area.

Just the job!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at the gite, its very quite and relaxing in the little hamlet. Most nights we sat out the front of the gite in the evening sun which shines on the gite almost until sunset. The gite has everything a family would need including bikes and kids toys in the barn. we loved the uneven wooden floorboards upstairs in the house!

The location is very good if you don't mind a little drive to the shops. Dinan is only a short distance and the main dual carriageway is only ten minutes from the house if you want to go up towards the coast. The closest supermarket is also only ten minutes away in the same direction.

We ate out a couple of lunchtimes down by the river in Dinan and both were superb. Other places we visited were the Isle of Brehat (about an hour away but a good day out), Dinard, st malo and along the coast road to the north.

Overall i would give our stay 5 stars.

Location

Activity and Interests

Car: necessary

Coast/Beach:

The coast north of the gite is known as the Emerald Coast, it is rocky and very picturesque and is just over half and hour's drive from the cottage. It has some absolutely stunning beaches: St Jacut de la Mer, St Cast le Guildo and Le Val-André. Or you can just drive along the coast and find one of the many other beautiful beaches, parking is usually very easy and free.

Travel:

Brittany is easily accessible, from the UK or Ireland by ferry or by plane, or by excellent roads from mainland Europe. If you are travelling by plane, Dinard airport is less than 25 minutes away from the gite/cottage and Rennes airport is about 50 minutes. Travelling by ferry gives even more options, with the ferry port at St Malo only 40 minutes away, both Roscoff and Caen just under two hours and Le Havre 3 hours away.

Distances:

The gite/cottage is located in a quiet hamlet near the edge of the forest of Yvignac, only 2 minutes drive from the village of Yvignac-la-Tour. The village has a boulangerie (bakery), bar and restaurant. 8 minutes away from the cottage is the town of Broons, with more restaurants/bars, a Poissonnerie (fishmongers)), bouchers (butchers) and supermarkets. For anything you can't get there, the hypermarkets of Dinan are only 15 minutes away.

Further Details:

The gite/cottage is located in a very peaceful loactaion on the edge of the forest of Yvignac, whilst providing easy access to a large variety of places to go and things to do nearby.

The gite is within easy reach of the medieval city of Dinan, the walled city of St. Malo, Rennes the capital of Brittany, the seaside town of Dinard, Cancale and its world famous oysters, the world heritage site at Le Mont St Michel, and Combourg, the château where Chateaubriand lived.

If you want to do something a little more adventurous you could try sailing, windsurfing or kayaking with the saling school at Jugon les Lacs, cycling around the nearby lakes, along the rivers and canals.

If you have children then there is plenty to keep them entertained, there's the wonderful Grand Aquarium at St.Malo, with it's stunning 360 degree shark tank and Nautibus, the zoo and chateau at La Bourbansais, the adventure park at Cobac Park, combine a trip to Le Mont St Michel with a visit to Aligator Bay, or try the huge mazes at Labyrinthe du Corsaire.

If you like markets then there are plenty to keep you occupied every day of the week.
