1 bed apartment in gated Provencal Mas - Private Gardens, pool, own terrace, village location.

Named in honour of the famous local artist, Apartment Cezanne in this XVIII former Priory, comprises of a double bedroom, bathroom, lounge/dining area and separate kitchen and uniquely for the property it's own terrace overlooking the gardens. The property is less than 250m from the quiet village centre, with bakers, post office, small general store and restaurants as well as a Friday evening market where fresh local produce can be found. The up market town of St Remy de Provence is just 15 mins away, Avignon 20 mins, Arles 20 mins, Nimes 30 mins, the Carmarge 30 mins and Mediterranean beaches 40 mins drive. An area with so much to do and see. Within the grounds, you have your own parking place as well as secure access through the electronic gates to the property. The 15m shared pool is set in the south west corner of the gardens and meets all recently introduced pool safety regulations. For further details/photos please go to the owners website (see below).

About Brian and Deborah Muir

In 2005 we moved with our two sons from West Sussex to the Correze in SW France, where we started a family business. Whilst on holiday in Provence in 2007, we fell in love with the Bouches de Rhone and particularly the Avignon/St Remy de Provence area. We subsequently bought apartment Cezanne as a holiday home and for use eventually for longer periods in our retirement. Debbie loves the history, culture the fantastic Provencal villages and Brian loves the magnificent countryside, walks and diverse wildlife. However, most of all we enjoy the vast choice of restaurants, the markets and the unique Provencal atmosphere. After every visit to Graveson we are frantically planning the next one!!

Why Brian and Deborah Muir chose Graveson

Graveson is ideally situated for visiting the wonderful sites of interest in the Bouches de Rhone. There is an abundance of history, culture and fantastic Provencal villages. Shops and restaurants are easily accessible. The property itself is an old XVIII Provencal Mas, which was formerly used for silk production and then became a Priory. The swimming pool is very inviting after a days sight seeing. Perhaps after a swim, relax with an aperitif on your own plane tree shaded terrace overlooking the gardens, before wondering into the village for dinner!

What makes this apartment unique

Property located in the village, but within its own grounds. Peace and quiet without the remoteness. Many of the famous attractions of the Bouches de Rhone easily accessible.

Having had a superb 7 days in your delightful Paul Cézanne apartment, we returned a day early because the weather had turned into a storm with high winds and lots of rain. This in no way detracted from the most enjoyable time we spent there. We visited several towns including the Roman town of Arles. We had one of the best meals we have enjoyed anywhere in France there. We also spent a day visiting the Luberon mountains which were very impressive. We took in the market on Wednesday at Remy which Brian recommended and it was enormous and truly amazing. We thought that our local market at Meyssac was good but there is no comparison. While we were in the area we went to see the psychiatric hospital at Saint Paul de Mausole where Vincent Van Gogh spent some time. We were very impressed by the condition of the 2000 year old Roman architecture close by just as we were in Arles.

Your apartment was perfect for our all needs and it was difficult to get out of bed every morning; it was so-o-o comfortable! The bathroom is very posh (love the tiles).

Lovely apartment

We stayed in the apartment for one week in May 2013. The apartment was clean, well furnished for our needs, haf a very comfortable bed, close to many incredible cities in the South of France, quiet, secure with secure parking & all in all perfect for us.

The washer was very handy as well even if it takes forever to get one load done. They have a rack to dry the clothes which I found sufficient.

If I wanted fancy, I would have booked a fancy hotel. I wanted real life France and boy did we ever get it.

I'm a French Canadian almost senior from Western Canada who wanted to experience life in the South of France. This was the perfect setting for us. There is a pool which would have been wonderful but the weather didn't cooperate. As it turns out, I really don't think we would have had time to enjoy the pool anyway. The first thing that we thought would be a disappointment was that there was no TV in the unit. Trust me, who has time to watch TV in the South of France. The owner had Wifi installed & it worked perfectly 100% of the time. We were able to communicate with our families on a daily basis which was very important to us. It was powerful enough for Facetime & Skype.

I could easily imagine what it was like as an abbey in the past & felt like I was experiencing the past.

The people in the area & in all cities that we toured in that area were incredible. They all made me feel so much at home. They were so friendly & always complemented me on my French. My husband doesn't speak French but he really enjoyed how comfortable they all made us feel.

We were able to visit numerous cities from there. Of course there are countless smaller towns which shouldn't be missed as well as larger cities such as Avignon, Montpellier, Aix en Provence. Some of the smaller places which were all less than 1.5 hrs. away had incredible, charm & history. I won't go into all of the places because they are numerous.

We had breakfast before we left & then wanted to experience their many plat du jour for lunch in various locations.

If you are looking for a great location, comfortable secure apartment for 2 in a setting from the past, this is the place to go.

Thank you to the owner for being so helpful & friendly as well. She is a very trustworthy lady who wants you to enjoy your time in France.

Just 200m walk to village centre, where all amenities can be found. Excellent midday 12 Euro restaurant just 3 mins walk from apartment. The centre of the village has under gone a complete renovation recently. The artists museum Chabaud is in the centre of the village along with the tourist info centre. There is so much to see and do in the area. Must visits include the market in St Remy, the world famous Pont du Gard, the superb views from the Beau de Provence in the Alpilles south of St Remy, Nime and its stunning Amphitheatre, Arles and its narrow back streets, Avignon and the of course the Pont as well as the Palais du Pape, The Camarge with all its unique wildlife, horses and bulls!, Aix en Provence and its chic cafe culture.
