4 bedroom,3 bathroom house close to beach

This century-old restored house is located at the end of the village at the end of a cobblestone lane. From the private garden and every room of the house there are wonderful views of countryside and sea. In the summer, the sun sets magnificently into the ocean right in front of the house and garden. There is no traffic or village noise to disturb the peace. The fully equipped kitchen with slate flooring and stone counter top is full of light, as is the living/dining area which has patio doors leading out to the garden. The master bedroom with ensuite bathroom offers a more panoramic view of sea and village from the veranda. There is central heating throughout the house which works off a furnace. Additional heat can be provided from the wood-burning fireplace in the living room which also heats the radiators.

The nearest beach, Praia d’Adraga, is just a short walk away and is just one in a series of sandy beaches along this coast.

There are many sports acitivities in the area: swimming pools,tennis,horseback riding, surfing,windsurfing, golf

A lovely comfortable house in a tranquil setting with a gorgeous view.

This is a very comfortable house, it's well furnished and feels like a much-loved family home. We were there from in early April 2017 and enjoyed a week of unbroken sunshine and temperatures in the early 20s. The evenings were cool so we used the wood burning stove on a couple of occasions which was straightforward and quickly warmed the large living room. The house is a short drive from the beautiful Praia d'Adraga beach which has a lovely restaurant, also nearby is Praia Grande which is great for swimming and body boarding. We had a hire car but used the excellent public transport from Almocageme for days out in Sintra and Lisbon. Cascais was 30 mins drive away - a lovely elegant seaside resort. The kitchen was very well equipped and there were several restaurants & cafes in the village, as well as a couple of small supermarkets and a butcher. It was a relaxing and memorable week.

When arriving at Almocageme I would advise parking the car on Rua da Praia Grande and walking the last few metres to the house as the final approach is very narrow, however the benefit of this is there is no traffic noise in the garden, just the sound of the wind in the bamboo wafting the scent of jasmine round the garden, and the occasional croak from a very large frog. It was delightful to look out of the windows of the main bedroom, across the wisteria blossoming on the trellis, then over the wooded hillside to the ocean. The sunsets were magnificent.

What a wonderful place!

just a fantastic stay in an incredible property in a wonderful location. The house is simply beautiful - set in a village with everything you need so close to incredible beaches, Sintra and Lisbon. We had a fantastic stay and didnt want to go home! Will be coming again im sure! thank you Emma & Ben Blackman.

Amazing place to stay

The house is located on the edge of Almocageme, a pitoresque village in the Sintra region. The village has an excellent choice of small shops, butchers, a local market with fresh fish and vegetables, and several cafes and restaurants with good food. A particular highlight is the ice cream shop on Rua da Praia da Agrada, which sells probably the best ice cream we have had.

The house itself has all the equipment one would want to wish for, from kitchen tools, dishwashers, washing machine, dryer to beach towels and a barbecue in the garden. The fews from the rooms and from the garden - overlooking the valley stretching towards Praia da Agrade - are fabulous. The rooms are spacious, as is the ground floor living/dining room and kitchen. We did not meet Candace, the owner, but communication with her was excellent and we would highly recommend this for a family holiday in one of the most scenic and historic regions of Europe.

Beautiful House in Charming village of Almoçageme

My wife and I and some friends thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the charming village of Almoçageme. The house was clean and spacious with a beautiful open kitchen, large dining area and a generous living room with a cozy fireplace. It was a wonderful place for us all to relax, cook a meal, and have a drink after a long day exploring Portugal. As we were there in the late summer, we spent a lot of time outside in the large garden overlooking a luscious green valley that rolled down to the blue Atlantic. It’s was the most perfect spot for a BBQ and to watch the magnificent sunset over dinner an drinks.

The house could not be more perfectly located. It was only a few minutes’ walk to the quaint village square where the friendly elders gather and here we found a fish monger, a couple of small grocery stores, delightful family owned restaurants, and pleasant cafés. The spectacular Adraga Beach is about a twenty minute walk down the hill from the house, or a three minute drive, and was an excellent place to wander, tan, swim and listen to the crashing waves. We also spent took a couple of days trips to fully explore the Unesco World Heritage–listed centre, Sintra-Vila, a fifteen minute drive away. With its rolling mountains surrounded by luscious forests, exotic gardens and glittering palaces, it exudes the magical atmosphere found in fairy-tales.

While in Sinta, do not forget to taste the delicious travesseiros at a café called Piriquita in the Old Villa.

I would highly recommended it. We loved our stay there and we will definitely be returning with our soon to be born son. I would highly recommended it.

Un bon séjour

Grande maison, offrant une belle vue à partir de l'étage.

Avant notre arrivée, les contacts par le net furent adéquats avec la propriétaires. De tout notre séjour, nous n'avons pas rencontré Candace ou quelconque gestionaire. Candace nous avait informé où serait la clé de la maison et où la déposer à notre départ. Nous avions des numéros de téléphones d'inscrits dans la maison, si nous avions une urgence ou des questions. C'est la première fois que nous louons une propriété avec une telle absence d'accueil.

La situation de la maison permet de belles découvertes de Sintra et Lisbonne.

L'équipement de la maison est adéquat. Malgré la présence d'un déshumidificateur, l'odeur d'humidité dans la maison persiste, même en ouvrant les fenêtres.

La propreté de la maison était très moyenne.

La différence de température entre ce village et les villes environnantes est de plusieurs degrés, permettant de se mettre au frais lors de journées plus chaudes.

La propriété est située au bout d'une ruelle qui elle-même fait partie d'un labyrinthe de petites rues où les places de stationnements disponibles deviennent un défi selon des standards américains.

Traumhaus mit unverbautem Meeresblick

Wundervoll eingerichtetes Haus mit Garten und Grillplatz hoch über dem Meer. Schöne Wanderwege zu den nahe gelegenen Stränden Praia Andraga und Praia da Ursa, sowie rund um das Cabo da Roca. Sehr gute Erreichbarkeit mit dem Bus ab Sintra.

The closest beach, Praia da Adraga is a 10/15 minute walk.

The next beach over, Praia Grande, is a long expanse of sandy beach and is a 10 minute drive. There are many beaches close by.

Travel:

Lisbon is about 35 km. Car hire is not essential, but is very convenient. There is a bus service from Almoçageme to Sintra, Cascais and other villages.

Distances:

Sintra with its many places of historical interest (it is a World Heritage Site) is a 15 minute drive. Cascais, which is more of a resort town, and has beaches and a marina, is a 25 minute drive. There are many small town and Roman sites in the area.
