The self contained fully air conditioned apartment has separate access with one double bedroom, satellite freeview TV, hi-fi, kitchen, lounge, bathroom and exclusive use of private swimming pool. It is situated in a very tranquil area, off the beaten track, and is ideal for walking, birdwatching and as a centre for inland tourism. Visits can be arranged to Seville, Granada, Cordoba and Antequera, as well as walking trips and transport to climbing areas such as Chorro.

About Mike Martin

Mike and Ann are a retired couple who love to help guests enjoy Andalucia, as they have. They have lived abroad for a number of years in the Middle East, and then ran their own business in Cheshire in the 16 years prior to starting up Finca La Era 9 years ago. Mike speaks fluent Spanish and likes to work on the house, and Ann loves photography, gardening and pottery.

Why Mike Martin chose Álora

La Habana, the area in which Finca La Era is located, is in a very tranquil valley. If six cars pass the house in one day it is classed as a traffic jam. It is far from the madding crowd, but not remote, and handy to do as much or as little as you wish.

Excellent rural location. First class propoerty and hosts.

We cannot give this rental anything but excellent for everything! Lovely location (though may be a bit too rural for some). Wonderful grand scenery and wildlife all around. Great value for money. Helpful and sensitive hosts - Ann and Mike made us feel very welcome and were always there if we needed anything, but were totally unintrusive. The pool terrace area and pool were the best we have had anywhere. This was our first experience with a gas barbecue and we are totally converted! And all completely private and for our own use exclusively. Local towns and villages are easily accessible, though the tracks can be rough. The accommodation was spotless and had all the facilities that anyone can require. The air conditioning (essential in the Summer here) worked well. All in all, it was perfect for the restful break that we were looking forward to.

A get away from it location with ideal hosts

An ideal place for a short break to chill out. Its rural Spain at its best.

The apartment is very well furnished and equipped with lovely views over surrounding countryside.

Mike and Ann are great hosts and very helpful with advice.

Peaceful oasis

Finca la Era is a little gem. Amazingly peaceful, tucked away in the 'campo' but accessible enough if you want to explore further afield. Nicely equipped inside with everything you might need and outside, there's a beautiful pool and garden. The space is very private although Mike and Anne are on hand to help with anything if needed. Lovely, welcoming hosts who've created a comfortable, tranquil oasis. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that you do have to go down some stairs and round the side of the apartment to access the garden/pool area, rather than being able to walk out directly to it. It's a minor thing though and in every other respect, the place is pretty perfect. You won't be disappointed if you book.

Peaceful, comfortable apartment, with all you need.

We had a lovely stay at Finca la Era. A lovely peaceful place to stay with everything you need for a holiday.

We had fabulous trips out to El Torcal, Caminito del Rey and Antequerra. The rest of the time we just relaxed by the pool!

The perfect place for a quiet and relaxing stay.

We spent 6 lovely days at finca la era and were made to feel very welcome by both Mike and Anne and their extended family (3 dogs, 2 cats, one of whom loves cuddles). Set in beautiful countryside, the house is very quiet and tranquil with only the sound of cicadas and goats grazing in the distance. The apartment is cute and comfortable with a beautiful view of the pool. Mike and Anne are very good hosts, they leave you alone but are always on hand to help with any questions. Mike very generously gave us some fruit and vegetables from his garden which were delicious. Hope to see you all again soon!

Fantastic holiday, off the beaten track

We had a fantastic stay at Finca la Era!

Mike and Ann were very accommodating, flexible and helpful, especially as we had booked it so last minute.

Although the apartment is attached to the main house it is very private and the pool is secluded. Mike and Ann are there if you need them otherwise they respect your privacy. The property is well equipped and we had everything we needed, our hosts were more than happy to help with suggestions or directions. We would definitely recommend staying here. A hire car is also essential if you like exploring. We would recommend nearby sites such as the lakes at El Chorro, El Torcal is an amazing natural park with unusual rocks, the beautiful town of Antequera with its castle, Cordoba was easy to get to and well worth a visit and a personal highlight was Ronda with its famous bridge and breathtaking views. 

Thanks again Mike and Ann for a wonderful stay.
