About Bertrand LaLanne

Hello, I am Bert (Bertrand). I have lived in the UK for 27 years (in Hampshire) but originally from this part of France. I always wanted to have my little piece of France and was able to realize my dream in 2007.

Bertrand LaLanne purchased this villa in 2007

Why Bertrand LaLanne chose Le Porge

I spent a lot of time in Le Porge when I was young, and it was always my dream to own a property in SW France, so Le Porge was the obvious choice.

I bought the villa in 2007 and spent a lot of time and money lovingly refurbishing the house, re-landscaping the grounds and putting in the pool. I holiday there a lot with my kids which is why the house has a home-from-home feel. The house is named after the district in Bordeaux, Mondesir, where my grandparents and father lived and where I spent much of my childhood. I hope you will love the house as much as I do.

What makes this villa unique

One of the main reasons I bought the villa is so that we can have a holiday destination where we know we have everything we need on site, and where we know we are guaranteed a lovely villa and pool, a calm environment, great beaches and super restaurants, as we have so often been disappointed in the past. I also wanted to be sure the house was suitable for young children as the kids were little at the time.

The house is equipped with everything you might need, including baby equipment and games.

Guestbook comments from the owner

'This house was a terrific find and we're already planning a return trip. It sits on the edge of a sleepy village just 5 minutes from an endless beach. Every eventuality was catered for and the place was immaculate. I can't recommend it highly enough' Mr Dyfed Wyn-Evans, Pontyclun.

'Mondesir turned out to be the perfect place for a holiday with three young boys (4,2 and 8 months). Even they were not able to undermine the beautiful tranquility of the setting, despite their best efforts. The house was delightful. Clearly lots of effort had gone into the refurbishment and a great deal of thought into furnishing it with everything that you could need for a comfortable stay, even bicycles, which were a big favourite for the early morning croissant run. A fantastic fortnight.' Cawthorne Family, Surrey)

"We had a wonderful time at Mondesir... the location is beautiful and the nearby beaches, stunning. We will definitely consider returning". Esther Taylor, Oxford.

Fantastic villa, lovely pool in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Myself and my wife stayed here for a week in August with our 3 children. Lovely quiet location in a nice village. The garden gave over 8 hours of uninterrupted sunshine while we enjoyed the clean and great sized pool. The beds are super comfy, good storage in each bedroom and a great climbing frame and slide for the kids in the garden! Le Porge-Ocean is only 8km from the villa and there is a cycle path that runs from the villa to the beach. The local patisserie sells great food, but don't get caught out by the midday closing (1-3.30pm)! Can highly recommend this villa!!!

Surrey, England

An over-priced small villa which had a fantastic pool.

  • 3 of 5

The description says that this property sleeps 9. There are only beds for 7 in 3 rooms and even as a family of 4 we were tripping over each other. The property is a collection of small rooms with too much furniture so you are constantly squeezing past everything. The 3rd bedroom is actually outside & not accessible from the main house so as a family you have to make a decision to either leave kids to sleep alone in the house, or all stay in the main house. The only reason the house has 3 stars is because of the pool which is fantastic. Le Porge is nice with endless stretch of beach.

Very relaxing holiday

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely relaxing holiday in the villa. Bertrand was very helpful and dealt with any issues we had quickly. Le Porge is a very quiet little town with a lovely friendly feel. It's quite far to Lacanau (a little further than we had thought) so not really suitable for popping into at night without a good 20/25 min drive either side but still worth the trip now and again. You definitely need a car here. It's about 8 mins to the beach which is absolutely beautiful! There is a cycle path all the way from the villa to the beach but it would be quite a long cycle. The pool is great and perfect for the kids and relaxing. The woods at the back of the villa make a lovely place to have a short walk. All in all a lovely relaxing holiday - even when the weather was less than perfect at times!

we booked a fortnight at Mondesir with our adult children and partners joining us for a week. The property is set in a lovely location on the edge of Le Porge with direct access to the cycle paths that cross-cross the area. The villa is lovely and the pool outstanding. We would have no hesitation in booking again.

Lovely relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful villa in stunning surroundings with forest views. Very quiet/secluded location but not isolated, and walking distance to bakery for morning croissants. The area is lovely with amazing beaches just a short drive away. The heated pool was a big hit with the kids, who swam every day. The villa itself was very well equipped and comfortable and we loved having breakfast in the sunny conservatory. Bertrand was extremely helpful and gave us lots of information. I would totally recommend for a relaxing holiday. I hope we can return one day.

Lovely house, lovely location

  • 5 of 5

Stayed with my son for a week. The house is lovely, everything you need and very well maintained. Easy walk into the village, very close to an amazing beach that's perfect for surfing and windsurfing. Also close to the lakes which are nice and shallow and also perfect for watersports. Easy to travel locally and ideally placed right in the middle of a fantastic part of France. Took us 9 hours to drive down from the Eurotunnel at Calais, easily doable in a single drive that's easy to follow on the map. Neighbours are very friendly and the owner Bertrand is very helpful as well. No hesitation recommending to everyone!
