About the Owner

My husband and I both live in the small coastal town of Whitley Bay in the North East of England. We both work as civil servants and thoroughly enjoy our holidays when we get them.

We love travelling and have been very fortunate to visit some beautiful places around the world but Dalyan has found a special place in our hearts and we find ourselves returning time and time again.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"The villa was set in a lovely position, with a nice stroll into town. The villa has a lovely size swimming pool-much bigger than most of the other villas nearby and the location of the villa means that it benefits from the lovely breeze which gets up at around midday. Dalyan was a perfect place to have a family holiday and we would return" Jane, Redhill

"We had a lovely holiday thanks. Your villa was really great, we liked the location with its lovely views of the mountains and easy walking distance to town. We had a great time and we will certainly recommend your villa to others" Wendy, London

"We had a great holiday, the villa was in a beautiful peaceful place. The pool was excellent the best in the area and safe for the children. It was our first time to Dalyan it is a beautiful place with lots to do and see. The villa is close to town and you can see the mountains from the back garden. The people were so friendly we will be back again next year. Thanks Selina" Linda, Ireland

Great place, villa and location

Mark and Selina

Thank you for another gorgeous stay at Villa Marseli - when you start planning your next visit on the first full day here you know you've settled in and feel at home immediately. So peaceful and relaxing yet with as many bars and restaurants as you'll need for any number of visits only a short walk away.

The friendliest cats will pay you a visit (Pooma black cat resident, though she has a younger doppelgänger who has couple of friends - all gorgeous but will not hang around if you're not fussed).

Would recommend the rowing boat and walk to Kaunos if you can, well worth it - fantastic views, ancient amphitheatre and loads of animals, also so peaceful. If you go, grab a cold orange or pomegranate juice from one of the roadside sellers on the walk back.

Already looking at availability, can't believe we had to come home! Don't take a razor, get into the barber for a shave!

Food was the best range we've had on holiday, and whilst meat dishes abound, Dalyan easily accommodates veggies (and vegans with little effort).

Lovely people, always great service and simply friendly everywhere we've been. This was our 3rd visit but we'll hopefully be back soon.

Villa has everything you need, plenty of room and great pool. Lots of information and wifi. Ahmet very helpful if needed and would also recommend boat trip which can arrange.

Outstanding Villa in beautiful surroundings.

  • 5 of 5

Easily my favourite holiday ever... The Villa is outstanding on standard, location and size. The pool was a real highlight with the whole family. The Xbox encouraged the kids out of the sun occasionally and let them entertained in the evening while we sat on the lovely terrace with a few cold beers. The town of Dalyan is wonderful and the best day of our holiday was a private boat trip arranged by Ahmet which included BBQ and plenty of swimming / crab catching plus some wonderful sightseeing and wildlife. Honestly go to this place, you won't regret it!

Amazing villa - spacious and well equipped with everything you need. The pool is a great size and naturally warm and great to cool off in the afternoon. The villa is well maintained and the pool cleaned daily. The villa manager is very friendly and willing to help with any enquiries including transfers.

Dalyan is a wonderful place with such friendly people and I can say 100% that I will be back to both Dalyan and this fantastic villa

The Perfect Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This was our 4th consecutive year visiting Dalyan and our 4th consecutive stay at Villa Marseli.

I cannot recommend this villa enough. The villa itself is beautiful and spacious with excellent facilities, it now feels like a home from home. The pool and outside area are wonderful and simply perfect for relaxing and sunbathing. The bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas are decorated to a high standard and everything that you need for a comfortable stay is available. We were also delighted to discover that wi-fi had been added this year.

Dalyan itself is a wonderful area, the town centre is brimming with fantastic restaurants, cafes and bars. Although Dalyan is a busy and bustling town, the atmosphere is very laid back. The locals are wonderful and very friendly, always keen to chat and offer their services. The local market on Saturday still delights and is a great source of local produce, make sure you haggle over prices to get some great deals! Boat trips are readily available to Turtle Beach and the Mud baths and makes for a wonderful day out.

All in all we had another fantastic week at Dalyan and Villa Marseli and are looking forward to returning next year.

Many thanks to Mark and Selina for an amazing holiday.

Ian, Jillian and Lisa.

From the Owner

I spent a number of years working across Europe for a large tour operator and one of the nicest places I had the pleasure of visiting was Dalyan. It is a beautiful town with some fantastic bars, restaurants and shops as well as some amazing sights nearby. The local people are very friendly and Dalyan has managed to retain the same laid back feel it had when I first visited in 2003. It somehow manages to strike the perfect balance between not being too loud and lively but still having enough going on to keep visitors of all ages entertained. Dalyan offers something for everyone and is only 30 minutes from the airport which makes it an ideal location for a holiday home. The villa itself is in a peaceful residential setting, yet only 8-10 minutes gentle stroll to the centre. Dalyan is flat and everything is in walking distance so there is no need to hire a car unless you want to explore further afield.

Activity and Interests

Car: not necessary

The fabulous and extensive Iztuzu (Turtle) Beach is a pleasant boat ride along Dalyan's meandering river on the public boat (cost is around £3 return pp). Alternatively a town bus takes you to the beach on a scenic journey through the wonderful mountains, this takes approx 25 minutes.

Dalaman International Airport is 30 minutes away and return transfers can be arranged at a very competitive rate.

Dalyans charming centre and picturesque riverfront are both under 10 minutes stroll from Villa Marseli, with many shops and restaurants even closer. Dalyan is also an excellent base from which to explore a number of other places. For example, the lively towns of Fethiye and Marmaris are both around an hours drive away and it is possible to get a ferry across to Rhodes for the day from both of these towns.

Further Details:

Villa Marseli is situated in the sought after Gulpinar district of Dalyan.

Dalyan town centre, with its pretty cobbled streets, restaurants, bars, shops and boutiques is just a 10 minute gentle stroll away.

As is the stunning riverfront with it's many boats and imposing 4th century Rock Tombs hewn out of the solid rock and illuminated at night.

Dalyan is a great centre for a whole variety of tours, excursions and activities to suit almost every taste. Here are just some of those available to choose from:

- 12 Island boat trip from nearby Gocek,

- Various other boat trips from Dalyan itself taking in the beautiful bays along the coastline (ekincik, bacardi), crab fishing and /or koycegiz lake.

- The ancient ruins and rock tombs of Kaunos.

- The famous mud baths and thermal springs.

- iztuzu beach and turtle hospital

- Saklikent Gorge.

- Butterfly Valley.

- Yuvarlak Cay

- Turkish baths with massage and turkish shave for the gents.

- Trekking, walking, mountain biking,

- white water rafting or jeep safari for the more adventurous

- Paragliding from Oludeniz.

- Snorkeling and scuba diving.

- Microlight flying.

- Bustling market days either in Dalyan itself (saturdays) or at one of the nearby towns such as Ortaca and Koycegiz,

-Various 2 day trips to famous sites including: Ephesus, Pammukale, and Cappadocia, amongst others.

From the Owner

The villa is in a fabulous, peaceful location which is perfect for lazy days by the pool. At the same time, it is only a short stroll to the town and the views of the mountains on all sides of the villa are, simply, stunning. Turtle beach is easily accessible from the riverside and, for those wanting to do something a bit different on their holiday, there are a variety of trips available from the town ranging from a day out at the mud baths to white water rafting (great fun). Nearby Kaunos is also well worth a visit for any history fans. The villa is fully equipped for nights in, with a barbecue and a good selection of CDs and DVDs, or is ideally located for an evening out with only a short walk back at the end of the night.
