About the Owner

My husband and I both live in the UK are are actively involved in running our own business. When possible we travel to experience alternative cultures. On one such trip in 2001 we visited Turkey for the first time and immediately fell for its charms, which include not only the scenery and excellent eating out opportunities, but also aspects of everyday life, especially the people. Early visits involved staying at hotels in Kalkan and through speaking to the owner, eventually deciding to purchase one of the small number of properties that he and his architect intended to build which enabled us to seal its prime location and put our own individual stamp on the property. The villa provides excellent accommodation, privacy and easy access to all town amenities.

Villa Magdalen stands out amounst all the villas we have stayed in during past holidays in Kalkan. Well appointed villa, with great outside areas. The team led by Sahin property manager, responded efficiently and courteously to our needs and kept the villa beautifully

I just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our time at your beautiful villa, it was so welcoming and well equipped and the location was just fabulous, not too far away but nice and peaceful. The welcome pack was very thoughtful and useful and the cleaning ladies and gardening chap were wonderful and a real treat. They did such a lovely job and we felt very looked after and for me it was a real treat not to have to clean! Thank you again. Viv

Great Villa and Kalkan is a really nice

  • 5 of 5

Our first time to Turkey and using Owners Direct, and have to say WOW we were blown away with how nice the villa and the view down over Kalkan was.. as well as how friendly the Turkish and especially Kalkan people are! The villa was just as it was in the pics, which I thought might be difficult as it looks perfect.. But it really was. Sue (owner), Sahin (agent) and the people who came to tend to the garden and make the beds helped us with everything in too - thanks folks. There's plenty to do in terms of watersports and activities (we went sea kayaking, gorge walking, horse riding and touring in a hire car to nearby ruins - but there's also boat trips, about 300 repersgarde to choose from and plenty of beaches and places to explore) and the back garden and pool are amazing to just chill in. If you go you need to read the guest book/pack in the villa for good tips!

The only two things we would say is that the pool is perfect apart from being a bit too deep - I'm 5ft 9 and on tip toes I could just stick my nose out the water. The back garden/pool isn't 100% private either as its visable from next doors balcony and garden area, not shown in the pics - but this didn't bother us personally.

All in a fantastic stay and we will definitely be back some time.. Next time with friends to use the full size of the villa! Thanks again Sue :)

Wonderful Holiday

  • 4 of 5

Booking the villa and dealing with the owner, was a pleasure. All queries, answered immediately and all transfers organised and met without any problems. Having visited Kalcan previously for a girly holiday, once again we were not disappointed. The villa was lovely, on the outskirts of town, with amazing views, excellent facilities and a wonderful pool (no shallow end). The only slight draw back was that there are villas on both sides and when occupied, the villa is not quite as secluded as we might have hoped. Having said that, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Kalcan, the restaurants in the town are plentiful and very welcoming, the harbour is alive at night for entertainment and if you get an opportunity please try a hammam/turkish bath - a wonderful experience, don't forget to visit the weekly market, whether shopping in the market or town a fab time was had by all. We can't wait to return.

Wonderful villa magdalen

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I enjoyed a wonderful 10 night break in this lovely villa in Kalkan. The views from the villa are simply stunning! The villa is within walking distance of the town where there are some fantastic restaurants, bars and shops. Also the drive from Kalkan to Kas is a must, the views from the coastal road are fantastic.

The villa itself is beautiful and extremely well equipped. The owners have thought very carefully about every last detail which results in an extremely luxurious stay. We spent many lazy afternoons by the pool enjoying the view! The people that look after the villa do such a great job and are very discrete. We were made to feel very well looked after from start to finish.

I wouldn't hesitate to book villa magdalen again, we cannot wait to go back! Thank you.

Turkish delight (sorry, couldn't resist!)

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Magdalen. The villa was comfortable, clean, spacious and well kept with fantastic views over Kalkan. The price to pay for such great views was quite a strenuous uphill walk to return to the villa after visiting the town, although taxis are readily available if you don't fancy the exercise.

Kalkan itself is a delight, from the profusion of rooftop restaurants (spoilt for choice) to the quaint shops and laid back beach clubs.

Beyond the town, we enjoyed trips to various places, highlights being a gulet cruise including lunch and lots of snorkelling, a walk along Saklikent gorge, and a visit to Patara beach and ruins. All easily accessible with a hire car, otherwise there are several commercial operators in the town offering day trips.

Overall one of the best holidays we've ever had - highly recommended!

From the Owner

After visiting Kalkan on several occasions staying in hotels we were offered an opportunity to buy a piece of land and we made the decision to have a villa built. Villa Magdalen has proved to be such a good decision and we have enjoyed many holidays and know our guests have done the same. The villa is in a quiet location to relax but near enough to stroll into Kalkan with its many restaurants bars and lovely beach and surrounding beach clubs.

Activity and Interests

Car: recommended

Walking distance to the pebble beach of Kalkan is around 25 minutes. The famous Patara beach, part of a national park is a 20 minute dolmus/taxi ride away, is an unspoilt 16km sandy beach. Kaputas beach is a lovely cove at the foot of a mountain gorge and is a 10 minute drive from Kalkan.

We will arrange private transfers for you from the airport direct to the villa with our very reliable local car hire company. Our driver will meet you at the airport with a board displaying your name and the name of the villa. All cars or minibuses (depending on numbers) are fully air-conditioned and your driver will make sure that you reach the villa safe and sound to enjoy your holiday in Kalkan.

Nearest towns are Kas which is a 35 minute scenic drive along the coast, Islamlar village which is famous for trout farms and has some lovely restaurants to sample the trout which have been freshly caught. Berzirgan village another very interesting visit is a 20 minute car ride away.

Further Details:

The nearest large town is Fethiye, approx. 1 hour drive from Kalkan. It has a large harbour, restaurants and shops. In the daily fish market you can choose your fish and have it cooked by the restaurants surrounding the market. Near to Fethiye is a deserted village, vacated in 1920, worth a visit. Kas is a smaller harbourside town 30km. east of Kalkan. From the harbour in Kalkan you can join a day trip around the islands and coves of the bay, and enjoy excellent food and drink along with some snorkeling, swimming and sunbathing. A folder can be found in the villa with details of local places on interest and information on restaurants, shopping, banks etc. The post office in the town will change money for you along with the banks and also some of the local shops have a policy for changing money.
